Will do, counting down the hours (minutes) until I get away from the office and head north bound. Looking forward to it!

As others have said it's a wild track, but once you get in to your stride great fun. There are no drops as such, however there is scope for some fairly flamboyant (and sore) tumbles if you got a line or two wrong. One area where the track is a country mile ahead of anywhere else is the ease of uplift, and friendlieness and helpfulness of the staff. It's got a quality feel to the place.

Racing this weekend and praying it's not a wash out!

Not what? I'm not actually suggesting you're in the BNP, simply that they'd welcome you based on your posts.

There's I live in the Home Counties and everything's lovely right wing; and then there's,

"Tron……they're from Chile, they came over here because they thought they could ge a better life by milking our benefits system."

I'd put you (and Griffin) in the latter category.

TMB At least you gave your Nick-Griffin-esque pish clout by posting the Daily Mail link….

"Unlikely, there's no Walls to speak of on the course really. Possibly charity lane, or maybe the chute down to the road near the church? Either way it's just an unfortunate accident"

There's a wall half way down with a drop is there not?

I reckon the response to this is absolute pish, whether it's a dangerous not (and it's not for most) a spinal injury is no fun whatsoever. It sounds like it may be the story from a while back re-told though.

On the DH track does anyone know?

I'm 31 so not down with the kids enough in relation to YouTube etc, however I reckon this whole saga is one of these viral adverts. STW, Descent World and Southern DH; as well as probably plenty of other forums I don't visit are wasting miles of threads wittering on about all this pish. It's got to be the most elaborate advertising campaign ever to hit mountain biking.

Not sure what it's for though – bearings?

I've had a lot of hassle with the Thule bars scratching my mk5 roof, anyone know if VW ones are any better (presume it's the same anchor system)?

Got mine as an ex-demo direct from Halifax, all went very smoothly, can't knock them.

I may swap the rear mech as well although I change my mind daily. I'm not sure if it's because of the dodgy cable routing at the shock, but the X9 shifting starts out well, then goes to pot as ride progresses. Thinking of re-routing under BB and/or switching to XT (or maybe Saint) though there's no real logic to do either.

Anyone heard the old wives tale that a Saint mech runs better with a XT/XTR shifter? Got Saint/Saint on my DH bike and it's a very firm shift action.

'09 17"- air shock (RP23), 36 Floats, yellow. I bought it partly for the Mega so it's about to get an adjustable seatpost and potentially a brake upgrade (though the Hayes Strokers have been better than I thought they'd be.

I'm 6'3 with a 17" and it's fine with a high seat (although that 27.2 post does look spindly!), and plenty long enough on the top tube. Have to agree that a 37lb one seems pointless, as if it's not going to be ridden along or up a decent mini-DH-type bike could easily be built with the same cash and be equal to or below that weight (in my opinion of course!).

Yes 32t on the front, a bit small for faster decents. There's a 34 going on shortly.

It's fair to say a big day on one is not quite as easy as a Five, however there really isn't much in it, and the fun you have when you're not climbing more than makes up for it. I run 1×9 on mine no problem at all, and have done big 40km+ days the last few weekends in the Highlands without regretting selling the Five for a minute.

Whats the opinion on non-remote? No front mech so keen not to clutter the bars if it's not strictly necessary.

Not sure if you're slagging my spelling or making a poor Gravity Dropper themed joke? I thought since the post is about a year old there might be an update on what's "decent" out there?

Resurecting an ancient thread here, but anyone any further forward with a decent 27.2mm asjustable post? Wanting one for my Blood for the Mega.

    Cheers

His line over the ski jump at the bombhole at the end was unreal, genuinly thought he'd jumped out the track. Lew Buchanan and Mark Scott's runs took the biscuit though, juniors beating the rest of the field bodes well for the future!

As the above says it's a hybrid, with the bulk of the new stuff on the top half of the course. The big jump is the drop on the Matador, and from there down the track was fairly conventional. Nothing to stop you going up and giving it a crack as it's well worn after two days racing. Bloody good fun.

Anyone got a photo of a fitted MRP 1x?

I had the same uphill concerns about a Blood and swithered about just replacing my 5 with a newer one. In the end I took the plunge, and I'm glad I did, awesome bike! Not a chore on the ups (doesn't need two chainrings), and is a hoot everywhere else. I've been grinning like a loon since I got it.

I see the boys and girls over at Descent World are being a bit more open minded about Katec bikes. Front page spread about his bearing kits.

I take it the chain keeper is like the e13 and MRP1X and clamps between the BB and BB shell; in fact is that how they mount?

Got it in my Golf. Love the paddles in manual for spirited driving; virtually instant upshifts with a satisfying exhaust pop, and a blip of the throttle on the downs. Good to have the auto option in town, but not as smooth as a pure auto, and can be a bit jerky during manouvering.

The helpful fellas from Halifax got back to me today; up to 150mm fork '05 and older, 160mm from then on.

It's on '05 so fairly long in the tooth. I presume I'd need a new swingarm to have a bolt through back wheel, do the newer ones have removable dropouts?

Which begs the fateful STW question; wots it worth mate?

2005 Orange Five Pro: Forks and shock just TF Tuned, Spank wheels, Thomson stem, Easton bars and XT Shadow mech – the rest bog standard.

My missus's Clio Sport has extra lights that looks round corners; they're braw. She's not as modern in relation to the other issue.
