I’ve got a Chariot “baby sling” I haven’t tried yet but think my daughter has already grown out of. I’ll let you know at the weekend if you like (not sure it will fit your trailer though).

    leb304 + 1 (absolutely exactly)

The guy at the warehouse was the rudest guy I think I have ever spoken to. I was after something fairly niche (baby sling for a Chariot trailer) so was not biothered about having to wait, although it was getting a bit ridiculous at three weeks.

When I said I wanted to cancel the order and get a refund (the item was apparently floating about in courier land) he said
“well sometimes the mail can take a long time, so I’m afraid if we don’t receive your item within 30 days we can’t give you a refund”
    in a very sarcastic tone.

The guy was a total and utter tool and I would rather eat my last shite than ever give them another penny of my money.

What do you call a Scotsman that’s nearly home? Hamish.

The missus wouldn’t relinquish her Tesco points! Don’t know what her beef is, me buggering off to the Alps for a week leaving her holding the baby!!!

Two cars booked for £240 total, can live with that.

    Thanks for advice

You’ll generally get cracking deals on chalets/apartments if you have anyone to share with and are willing to shop about a bit. We paid £90/each/week for a palace in Morzine with hot tub, etc. Paying £100 each for apartment in centre of Ad’H during the Mega.

To me the tunnel is worth the premium for speed, convenience, and lack of plebs; especially as it’s a fairly un-leisurely itinerary we’re planning. Just wondered if there was anything obvious I could do to shave something off it.

Cool, will have a look at that. Thanks.

Cheers. Our travel time means I’m already looking at the cheapest fare (£120) anyway, just wondering if there are any deals lingering anywhere.

I know “what £1000 road bike on cycle to work” has been done to death, but someone guide me towards a review excuse to get a CAAD8 105 rather than a Boardman or Cube. Lovely looking machine.

“People who were mountain bikers before trail centres are more likely understand this.”

    A wee bit patronising no?

Don’t be so bloody patronising. Is this a “who mountain biked first” thread as well as the old anti-trail centre cliche? I get frustrated sometimes by the sanitation, over-biking and over-armouring, then I remember it’s all irrelevant. If people are out enjoying themselves on a single speed rigid or an 8″ DH rather than playing golf or some other sh1te, that’s all that matters.

SBZ, the Internet is a very big place I believe, but you really are wasting it.

In my opinion there are two sorts of “sectarianism” in Scotland; there’s the obvious stuff like last night, or the city centre fights between the neds. That’s not really sectarianism, that’s just an outlet for the extremely poor, unhealthy, and forgotten lowest-class population of West/Central Scotland to take out their agression, frustration and stupidity on.

To me, of more concern is the just-under-the-surface vein that still runs through a large proportion of the community. Like someone above said, I have intelligent, level-headed friends who are extremely biggoted on this issue, and can’t seem to move beyond it. Similarly I have witnessed completely inappropriate comments at work about the recruitment/redundancy/management of colleagues as a result of them being “Tims”. This is passed off at un-PC humour when challenged, but with a minority the undercurrent is always there.

Regarding Lennon; he rubs people up the wrong way with his aggressive and confrontational attitude. I’m not sure retiring five years early from playing for his national side, GBH, bullets-in-the-post, parcel bombs, death threats, or 24hour security and panic buttons in his home where he lives with his children are reasonable sanctions for this.

Mk4 R32, sheet ice on a (very) fast bend. Without doubt the scariest 10 seconds of my life.

Thanks hues, thought it was neon green which I quite fancy.

I’d pretty much echo ed’s comments above. Mine is my do-everything-except-DH bike and it sometimes a bit of a chore on all day outings, especially as it’s 1×9 but it’s a price worth paying IMO. It’s so fast, planted and chuckable once things get a bit more interesting.

Huws, is that Neon Green? Mine’s getting resprayed next week, and I can’t decide on a colour.

SBZ – I’m fairly sure you’re trolling, however re-read the Chariot bumf. It says something like “don’t use in bike-trailer mode below 6 months”. I’d be very wary of head jiggling about on anything but perfect asphalt.

I got one a couple of weeks ago and it’s the best £600 I’ve ever spent on bike kit. Wasn’t half as bad up the hills as I expected with baby, changing bag, and picnic on board. Seems really stable and smooth at speed, and suspension is basic but effective. I’d highly recommend one.

I got the standard issue other-half bolloking rolling mine on Friday right enough.

My MD once accused my team of “running about like blue arsed chickens” during a busy spell. How we chuckled.

    I hate “going forward”.

We once moved a car in Manchester with the Hiab on our wagon. The car owner came out (eventually, following signage, leaflets, concierge hassling him, etc) and started going mental. The Police also happened to be passing and weren’t interested in us and told him to calm down before they lifted him.

We see it every week, smart arses thinking they know better/are too important/are too lazy, ignoring reasonable and timely requests. It costs money (the contractors and eventually the tax payer) and is a total pain. Good on the OP.

Gutted to hear the negative curry comments. I went there for the first time at the end of last summer and have been looking forward to going back (2/3 of the way up the main street away from station on the right).

A bit late in the day, but in case anyone else is considering the Thule Euroclassic/VW T5 option. My mates stumpy handlebars on the inside clears back door no problem, although sometimes bikes with larger bars need a bit of foam or suchlike over the end. This is my mates Transporter, but my Caddy’s exactly the same.

PS I know it’s a white number plate, it’s all I could find.

Lease company aren’t bothered in the slightest, however cheapest quote so far £489! Something to do with rear valance, but I reckon it’s just a Beemer tax being added.

Anyone any specific supplier recommendations in the NW?

    Cheers

I think I can expect to add a few quid for detachable, but even then £300 or so sounds doable. Roof rack and bike carriers going in classifieds shortly!

    Thanks for the info Pedalhead.
