I’ve noticed in a few threads Orange owners seem to be singled out for abuse i have only seen given to BMW drivers.

    I’m operating under a pseudonym…

PS Is that not a Patriot JB’s riding on Ben A’an, not a Five.

Jesus that guy was a tool.

There’s nothing better than sitting at the end of the quali/Mega eating your little pack lunch and shooting the breeze with your mates as well as complete strangers who are all as buzzing/kanckered as you; and then that d1ck appeared on the scene. Totally unnecessary.

seconded buy the guy from yorkshire who had a shouting session at the french guy after the race

Was that the guy with the beard in Huez, that really was an embarrassment? That bloke was a complete and utter to55er.

Second Mega and enjoyed it as much if not more than last year (and that was a lot). Vastly improved quali but still missed main race by 14 places which was disappointing. Next year…

Lost tyre in the Challenger at Oz and rode the rest on the rim. Big up to Mavic and Hope, as although rim was a write off, the wheel was straight as a die despite several km of roots, rocks, drops and tarmac.

Can’t wait until 2012. If you have never done this race, do it, it is amazing.

I’m fairly sure if you dig deep enough in to the Commencal website they’ve got everything. I got some if those funny shielded washers for my DH.

This used to be a no-brainer for me and I went down the allowance route for a number of years for all the reasons described above. I’ve recently gone back on to a company car however as if you choose the right car (ironically for STW many of the lowest emissions in each class are BMWs) which has the right engine (and therefore tax) it doesn’t need to be as expensive as you might think.

What swung it for me was a bad month when a major service that included water pump and cambelt (budgeted), coincided with a couple of tyre-writing-off punctures (not budgeted), added up to a big bill. My mileage also increased due to a new role and despite an increase in c/a I could see the car that I owned and was my problem becoming worth less and less and having more and more potential issues.

I get in “my” company car now and if there is a service light on, phone Lex and don’t give it another thought.

While there are good points about watching the (top notch) BBC coverage from the comfort of my living room, it’s a dagger through the heart every year I’m not there.

The other festivals can’t touch it when it comes to all the madness that goes on up the back after hours. IMO.

Dogtag here, £31 for 10 days cover specifically including the Mega/downhill racing.

    Evening Gav.

Do you venture up there much? I rediscovered the place on Saturday after not being there for a year or so; bloody loving it. Twenty five minutes from the house and ideal for a quick blast after work. I reckon they’ve done a sterling job considering what they had to work with.

Some classic quotes from last night,
“I speak a little French, petit pois (small peas).” Jim
“I drew a picture of a teapot, that was my contribution.” Leon

Melody also said something fairly derogatory about “The North” at one point I didn’t quite catch, among all her other smug comments.

Bunch of fannies as usual, although quite entertaining. I wish the one with the harsh face that worked with Tom would stop saying “Yeah” after every sentence.

It seems to vary wildly from doc to doc. My doctor gave me the quick once over (so to speak) and then printed the letter out on his desk there and then, asking me what he was to write. I asked about paying (daft I know) and he said there was no charge. I have heard of others getting totally stung though.

As far as I’m aware it’s either or; so either phone up BC or make an appointment with your doc. I’m going next week.

“Dropping” it when riding on technical terrain; as I wasn’t at that point, I didn’t bother. I’m sorry it’s upset you so much…

Yeah, they ask for it at sign on. I’m getting one next week as my doc doesn’t charge, but my mates all went down the cut and paste route.

I’d second that. We stayed in the Allemond campsite for a bit last year and it’s a nice place to be among the trees. Friendly wee man, piscine along the road, a couple of cafes and a bus up the hill. What more do you need!!!

Joe Barnes was racing one in the Inners Winter Series with Fox 40s on the front. Very nice little bike.

Does anyone know if there is any truth in the annual rumour that the qualifying track is signifcantly different?

    Brycey

Ah, fair point. Better chance of qualifying at least!!!

I would say Hill managed both these

“As far as I can see he’s a super talented and very modest guy on a bike and let’s face it, at least one of those qualities has so far been desperately lacking on the DH scene thus far.”

There’s gotta be a few doesn’t there! CRC will presumably be on them.

I’d agree with Shindiggy. Not my bag doing it on a HT, but if you’re used to it then don’t see it being an issue, it’s not really a hugely technical track.

    None taken Coyote!

Once the bike’s built I’m going to get the missus to drive me to the Snowzone thing at the Trafford Centre at 6am. I’m going to hang about outside for a few hours, occasionally going for craps behind the bins, then once it opens go up to the top and slither down barging kids out the way shouting “Allez”.

That should recreate the experience nicely…

Not the norm in my case Coyote! I was “lucky” in that I just got the frame back from a repair and paint, so it seemed cruel not to tidy it up a bit and buy a few treats – just so happened the Mega is approaching.
