My 29s have 2.4 on but I’ve got 120mm travel, I’m thinking of 3.0 with a rigid fork.
    Will look in to Alpkit.

Invisiframe kit if they do one for your bike. And get it fitted by a pro, not worth messing it up yourself.

If this is a stealth ad, dibs on the fork. 🙂

So….. if the van was parked fully on the road….outside your house ….then you wouldn’t have a problem ?

Well it would be annoying but nothing I can do, I’ve parked outside other people’s houses many times but I don’t block the pavement. The fact it is a commercial vehicle rather than a car is also a source of annoyance but nothing I can do about that.

    Wow, that filled up quickly!
OK, some answers and a bit more background.

Was he driving across the corner of your grass verge too?

    No

At risk of a flaming here, but what are you upset about ? The van being parked on the pavement or because it’s outside your house ? I.e if he was parked like this further up the road , would you still be upset about it ?

    Because it’s my house, obvs.

If the van was completely on the road what room would there be for cars?

    Yes.

    How wide is the road?

    Wide enough.

I live in a medium sized village, not a town, 1 pub, 1 shop, a primary school. My house is next door to the village hall and opposite the school, it is the hall carpark overflowing that you can see just beyond the white van.
The hall isn’t used every night of the week but is used regularly on Sundays and Tuesdays and this is when the parking is annoying. This van isn’t the only offender, there are frequently 3 or 4 parked like this.
Before I challenge anyone or speak to the hall committee I wanted to know what the law says about such parking AND see if others agree it is inconsiderate.

Thanks for your input, especially the amusing ones. Have the kettles boiled yet? 😀

The Tarn is steel and the Scandal is alu so they will feel different, regardless of wheel size and geometery. I’m pretty sure the Scandal is an alloy version of the steel Inbred, I have one of those and they are superb.

I keep adding +1. 26er FS, 26er Ti hardcore HT, 26er steel SS, 29er/27.5+ (when I buy the wheels) steel SS was supposed to replace the 26er but can’t bring myself to sell it. Plan was to break it, sell the frame and build Mrs BOB a nice HT but haven’t found the right frame and think I need to keep it (an Inbred) for really muddy days when I don’t want to spoil the new bike (a Sherpa).
There is no right answer, so long as you have storage let the fleet grow I say.

tempted by one of these. But worried it might be a bit short in the tt. I’m 6’4″ with quite long arms – anyone riding an XL, of similar freakish proportions, care to comment?

I’m the exact freakish proportions:) and ride a 21″Sherpa next gen. I love it and currently have it set up singlespeed with 29″ wheels, it’s a massive improvement on my 26er On One Inbred and not remotely unwieldy. Though it does take up more space in the boot of the car!

I guess that explains the price, they don’t fit most frames yet 🙁

@cp Stop press. Yes there is a zoom feature 🙂 I’ve found it now. Once turned on a 3 finger double tab (didn’t even know that was a thing) zooms the whole screen and you can drag it around with 3 fingers. Problem solved, but I preferred the old way.

@bensales it’s an early ipad, pretty old now, slow but still functional (mostly). Does n+1 apply to tablets?

@nickjb using Safari but it’s the same in Chrome and Firefox

@Cougar thanks for the link. 15 pages!!! and yes it has been reported, not sure I understand the response though, something to do with Google and SEO but the ebay site zooms just fine so they don’t see a need to disable it.

    @cp I can’t in iOS 🙁

Paid 100 quid fitted at Two Wheels Cycles in Stourbridge for my Stanton and delighted with the result. I’ll do most jobs on a bike but wouldn’t attempt fitting invisiframe myself.

Depends from person to person doesn’t it.
Using myself as an example, I take bike to work then drop it in the shop on the way home – costs me a max of 15 mins. I then get to ride another bike and dinner is just a bit later.
And as for the wet afternoon – i’d rather be staring at a wall bored out of my skull on the turbo, taking a nap, reading a book, playing the computer, doing the hoovering – pretty much anything than cleaning/fixing bikes.

It certainly does, personally I’d rather be cleaning/fixing than pretty much anything. Each to their own I guess.

Makes all the difference on a single speed

Second that. I got an AB 32t oval for my Sherpa and it really does make climbing smoother, which is a must with SS. Right now I’m running a 19t sprocket but will probably switch to 18 when the trails dry out.

Is it built up Paul? how does it ride?

I’m running 120 Rebas on my SS Sherpa but still thinking of going for rigid for this time of year.

“Threw his bike!!” Just wondering what the horse rider did to get that response. Surely that was at the top end of the escalation.

Sektor DPC on my 456, sometimes feel a little flexi but generally pretty good if I’m not too aggressive, though I do weigh 14st

I’ve heard great things about the Stooge but it’s too small for me so two sizes sounds good if one is bigger than the current single size.
However I’ve just bought a Stanton Sherpa so not in the market for n+1 for a while.

Is anyone tallying the answers? Could do a little chart 😉

Carbon or steel? Both very different rides. My mate has a superfly and loves it but I don’t really trust carbon off road. If you like the Genesis take a look at a Stanton and support a small independent British company. I just got a Sherpa and it’s awesome.

Thanks for the input, price is always a factor but isn’t my primary concern although those Roval’s deffinitely look too steep. It doesn’t sound like anybody has come across the Rydes yet though.
