What is the appropriate karma for an uppity black these days? Same as it was in the seventies?

You assume , incorrectly , that my comment applies to , or is aimed at , only persons of colour or ethnic minority , it doesnt so stop being a drama queen looking to create your hysterical  racist accusation

Terrible turn of events there Benv , sorry to hear of the shoddy handling of the incident by your employers..

I may have taken external advice of this situation before quitting but if youre happier walking then good luck.

In the real world no-one likes a trouble maker at work whom sets out to lose someone their job so hopefully a bit of karma is coming the way of the complainant.

In actual real world practical terms , the role of a business analyst could be compared to that of the string quartet playing on the deck of the Titanic as it plunges to the bottom of the Atlantic…

I’m going continental with my fav take-away and putting forward the French Americana sandwich

burger meat cut up into chunks plus chips plus mayo , served in a french stick / baguette.

    Its epic.

But when the OP starts talking about other people agreeing with him, it starts to sound like harassment of the complainant.

It sounds like nothing of the sort to me ,  to go from words of support from workmates who  agree you did nothing wrong and somehow interpret that as harassment towards the person who made the complaint shows some very muddled thinking on your part…..

they won’t brake into houses and steal stuff to fund another hit. But then part of me thinks they will anyway.

They will , and do , that you can be assured….

But then again, prescribing heroin from an already overstretched NHS, is it a good idea? Will it help society as well as the individual?

helping the inflicted indulge in their poison only prolongs the problem , it doesnt help anyone

What do unions do when both the perpetrator and the victim are members? They can’t advocate for both sides?

Only the accused requires representation , the complainants case is handled  by the company / organisation itself

pffft , not impressed with the lack of hammer in the pro-kit , how you supposed to beat the crap out of stuff in time honoured fettler fashion ?

its all well and good using such fancy kit in Cali where the nearest thing to dirt you’ll find is a pine cone on the floor , but after a season of post race repairs at Gisburn during winter that kit will resemble a shopping trolley pulled out the bottom of a canal.

    liking SirHC’s effort though

So the lesson here is to never use the word jungle in any context ever just in case a person of colour is offended in some way. – maybe use “tropical undergrowth” as a suitable alternative word

and dont offer an apology of any sort out of politeness in an attempt to de-escalate the situation just in case he’s offended by that also –  instead just tell him to piss off and mind his own business rather than butting into a conversation that doesnt concern him

    ok got it.

    Yep this country’s f****d.

I typed  jungle drums into google and rather worryingly the first result was an article in the daily mail regarding a racism investigation.

If your employer is a very PC operation , like a local authority , then its prob best that the others involved in the conversation are prepped to confirm that no racism was intended on your part just in case a complaint is made at a later date

very shit i know , but we live in a world where being offended is a full time occupation for many

We had a CEO who judged everybody by how much they were paid / charged, no matter how good / useless they were.

A common outlook from those continually preoccupied with money & their own personal wealth…..

The worst thing you can do as a self-employed tradesman is work directly to the public – they know the price of everything & the value of nothing.

And if you must , then at least try and build a small portfolio of “high end” clients whom happily pay extra for a quality service – trying to earn a living from your average joe bloggs in his office job whom spends all day researching on the internet , squeezing every penny out of your labour & materials estimates is just a tedious suckfest.

been there , got the t-shirt , moved on

my current business plan is to be expensive as fk in the hope that those who aren’t put off initially from a high quote think ” ooh he must be top notch at those prices…”

    and I am.

the rest of the budget barry’s looking for a bargain basement job can piss off , they’re usually shit payers anyway.

Didnt the hospital conduct blood tests in order to check for poisoning ?

And then release him a few hours later when results returned negative ?

The young lad involved in this minor work place incident would benefit more from objective words of reassurrance from an older & wiser adult putting things into perspective and getting him back to work asap – before his employers label him a bit of a liability and fire him off at the earliest opportunity..

Filling his head with thoughts of compo claims  and taking several weeks off on the sick is poor handling of the issue to be perfectly blunt.

Hes putting his own job in jeopardy following such advice ……

    +1 for shimano

i find their drivetrains slicker & smoother in operation.

I also prefer the asthetic of their brake products – for example , slx levers have a quality machined / cnc’d build to them as opposed to srams cheaper die-cast look.

the latest generation of ratchet spanners have gearless mechanisms , i.e. no “click” when rotating the tool so you have an infinite angle of engagement for working in ultra tight spaces.

i would have thought a worx hydro shot would be better as a bike cleaner as not requiring a mains power supply means you can put in the car  with a small water container and take it with you for post ride cleaning………..

    basically alot more versatile

If you can get a gas supply into your garage ……….

you’ve got to be kidding right ? sorry but thats just ridiculous.

getting a gas mains to what maybe a detached building , under whats probably a concrete pad is unlikely to cost less than a grand before even buying the appliance.

or maybe just use an existing socket that has zero installation costs ?

    good grief.

No real point buying the usually more expensive condenser dryer if it lives in the garage , vented will be fine.

Maybe avoid whirlpool , they were the last brand to do a major recall due to fire risk.

just remember to clear fluff / lint tray after every use.

and make sure the socket used for the dryer is rcd protected as its left unattended whilst in use

Rain X is quite a mild compound as far as rain repellents go.

much more potent products are available such as the previously mentioned H2go and Gtechniq G5 which i use..

Halfords duxback treatment that was asked about earlier is a semi permanent compound that should last around 6 months before effectiveness drops off

    Problems arising from using these products nearly always comes down to  the same 3 issues ;

applying too much product – use the absolute bare minimum

    pre clean not thorough enough

    wiper blades worn

anyone wanting to remove a failed treatment should  try scrubbing the glass with fine wire wool dipped in white spirits – guaranteed to strip back to naked glass.

    HTH.

you could do the same job with a file so not really worth while buying a specific tool

and to be honest having a sharp inner edge of a steerer tube is going to do no harm anyway.

Im amazed no-ones mentioned the carbon footprint / environmental impact of flying many people to central Europe for something that could be done within 30 mins drive what with this being the most virtuous forum in existence.

I shall report this wanton pollution to Greta Thunburg and watch her online army crush this company into oblivion with a tsunami of social media hate…

some of his new music was previewed on the johnathan ross show couple of weeks back as iggy was a guest.

yeah , the new releases were crap , sounded real half-assed tbh.

but i cant believe how small the dude is !!  he looked barely 5ft tall / 7 stones in weight on tv.

granted he’s in good shape for 70 odd year old heavy partying rockstar tho. – outlived most of his contemporaries lol

points of interest in the techno blurb……..

uses same casing / fitment as shimanos step ebike motors

designed to be removable for service / repair

2 inverted cassettes providing 13 gear ratios , shifting by electronic actuator

will be developed for both road & mtbs

drag reduced by low friction coatings on cogs

a variable transmission version with stepless gears” feasible” for the fututre

it looks immense , makes pinions offerings / design on a gearbox look “basic”

Trying to talk a non electrician through fault finding steps is akin to wading through treacle and not recommended from a safety point of view.

Next time it happens dont touch anything and call out a professional to have a look.

Never ceases to amaze me what the public think can be sorted out via internet chit chat alone.

Amazing how many overpriced private sellers have 100% positive feedback

Being able to get above market price for goods your selling doesnt make the seller a crook

its also easy to have 100% from mainly buying stuff so its no guarantee.

its easy to get 100% feed back as a buyer , all you have to do is pay promptly , though this is of no relevence for a perspective buyer so i dont see your point

Stick to buying from shops if you find the ebay marketplace too risky.

Agree with the sentiment expressed by others , its a dumb question that cant be answered in any meaningful way if you dont want to rely on seller feedback
