I've just read an identical thread in weight weenies. He abandoned it in the end. Seems weird though as I've done that combo before.. Its a hardtail. Chainring New

    Stiff Link – What's that.?

Yeah – its a raceface deus single 32t up front. Cassette is a 12-27. Just tried a spare used XT chain and it inproved slightly? I've also just popped off the cassette and it seems fine? I've run this combo before on a diff bike with no problems.

I've had and am now building back up a 06 Enduro, running the same forks I think as you. Personally I don't think the new 180mm fox would work. Although they do look amazing! For me I think it would jack the front end up too much. Maybe you could run loads of sag but its a lot of money to fork out (he he) to try. With them being Talas you can shorten up the travel but I think that's a waste IMO. There is a bloke on here selling a set of new Van's after finding out a similar problem.? If you do go for it let us know how you get on!

Maybe its a bit of both, I've been lucky enough to own two intense, a 6.6 and the new Tracer and have had none of the problems in question.

Cotic's are cheap bikes. Plus far too much bias towards them on here so its not a fair call, imo

Just installed Ralphs and Rockets onto some new alpines. 20 mins total for the pair. Really really easy, installed the tyres on the rims high pressure for a a couple of days with tubes. Bit of soapy water, left half the bead on each tyre, track pump – easy peasy.

foxyrider – that's the trick. Managed with the less glam wood and lump method. With the actual cups only being short it was'nt a prob. For future ref though thats def the way to go.

cheers guys. I'm going to have a 'bash' so to speak. Failing that may look into getting one. Not sure how much use I'd get out of it mind.

andymonty – that's incorrect. Credit Card will/does offer you protection via paypal, I bought some forks from the states. Did'nt arrive paypal got my money back within 3 days – I spoke to the Credit Card people prior to getting that result and they were waiting to act for me if paypal did'nt sort it. Happy Days

pitducy – just for the record if you were that keen on the frame why did you wait 4 hours before contact after your "i'll take it post"? Thought I'd better put that bit in. In Englais "Do we have a deal" tends to mean no deal until your reply issued? People can say one thing and do another and as a seller in this case is'nt that what anyone would have done….No need be so aggressive

Err – don't think so pitduck. "Someone else" being the person who posted their message first and therefore got dibs on the frame. Your "I'll give you full asking simply forced his hand" Many thanks

Thanks for the offer Big-Bud. I've got a few gears now so I'd have been up for it, but my brother is getting married this weekend so I'll have to pass it up, have a good un!

I'm not saying I want an easy life, I love a challenge like the next bloke. When I take a 'hill on' I don't spin like a nutter anyway. But when I get to the top I like to take it on the flat then take on the descent…? maybe not needing all 27 odd gears etc but a middle ground like the 2×10 or the 1×9 people seem to be going down…

Nope – no beard, mrs won't let me. Nope not sat in the saddle. I just think I like to 'put the hammer down' pretty often and the simple lack of gears makes for a slow/er journey??

sure – I liked the simplicity of it, that was the idea. I've seen a few people up and around localy (inc some of the singletrack guys) Mr cozy gears are back

Ive almost finished my build. Almost identical to what your going with Dave. Got some 150mm All Mountains up front.
I'm going to run it singlespeed also with 18/32 gearing, using the Fire Eye singlespeed setup with a Gussett tensioner. Oh and yeah go for 16 plenty of scope to adapt riding as and when.

They keep my mate (a lbs mechanic) ticking over nicely. Always one in "not working properly"… Think I'll give it a couple of years till they make a proper one. +1 with BoardinBob

I've still got mine 1995 – 1996. Blue with the original logo, moved out 'n' left it, my brother used it for a few years, got it back off him and its still mint! Its probably by far the best jacket I've ever owned!!!

Could'nt agree more – my brother went out on his new sx trail a few years ago with a respected member of this said forum and his pals. He built it exactly how he wanted it, big and burly..which is totally how he rides.. the opinion was it was only suitable for the 'alps' nothing else… He had much more fun on his bike than those muppets.
