Nice bike overshadowed in my opinion by Chakaping’s class…..

Frankenstein – I’ll never sell the full suss – never.
Proper winter ride now having fitted some cool crud race guards2 from Pete at Vale, brilliant. Still working out the gear ratio’s but I’m having so much fun. Riding MTB’s for about 20 years and loving it, just got that kick again!! come on….might even go again in the morning

Ok – Cool. Thanks for that guys. I’m thinking of running them as “soft/low” as fox recomend then seeing if they become more supple, which in experience does happen. I think bike setup is also in question as its very slack too, so my weight wont ever be really over the front end. So setting sag could be an issue – maybe.

World Class bike – then blows it with bad ass sid’s!!(on his face) shocking. Does’nt matter how fast he is, they will knock off 10mph off his top speed………….

I think your being very harsh. Everybody has to start somewhere posting threads on here. If I contacted the guy and he seemed sound then why not?

I agree with Kaesae – Just built one very similar that still had original bearings. They were shot, worth checking it out which is a pain now since you’ve just built…but one worth doing mate

Alpine’s for me. I’m exactly the same weight and have had no problems in the 4 months I’ve used them on similar riding terrain too.. Seal and inflate first time, very very easily with Schwalbe’s and some yellow tape. I ride pretty light and quick. Best rims I’ve used…..

Bored of the normal so went for them, best tyres I’ve used in a long time. Running the AM ones and very happy with them, roll fast and have lots of grip.

druidh – in context of ordering the Ibis, a job like swapping a crown race for a tenner is poor.

customer service is key – for me its the difference.. Don’t think i’d take up the behind the counter thing mind. I don’t know one fit bike mechanic – ???

psychle – I agree with you 100% – its all about having and using a little bit of common sense!! It seems my LBS is the same, spend quiet a bit in there and refer lots of mate etc, went in the other day to press a bearing in and had exactly the same response. It took them about 30 seconds and I had to leave it with them……£10…

I think it was done when the lights were put. Think its just that stretch of the trail, it was done for the horse access with the crossing etc.

Thanks for the big ups guys, first bike I’ve posted up, thought it deserved it.

Ruminant – got the spray done at a local spray centre. Asked for a unique colour and they came up with that, its got white and silver like a pearl effect.

I_Ache – My fox forks have been spot on and had no probs in the past.? Run rockshox and magura on my other bikes so not biased.

Epic – that is a classic but never thought they rode that well to be honest. Very iconic though!

Joe@brooks – its a kcnc i had as a spare. Love the toupes, fits my ass perfectly.?.

Well impressed with the tyres, they have had good reviews and I’d back that up. Fancied something different and well happy with them. roll really quick for a big tyre. Super grip too!

Thats a smashing looking bike – I think you should swap the rims for some of those chocolate spank's… That would finish off nicely matching a treat…

I'm a fan of the 12-27 ratio which is the main reason I went for it.
Ah well stuck a nice XT cassette on for time being and guess what it works a treat!! Looks like my spesh project bike has a new completely over the top uber trick cassette to go with the SLX !! he he he

I've used one before on a hardtail I used to have and it was really impressive. I ride pretty light so I kinda can manage. I've heard some about shockers too.

Little update for anyone who still may need info.
Swapped the back wheel for a pals
My Bike – XT cassette – KMC Chain – XTR rear mech – It worked perfectly..
Put my wheel on his bike – KCNC cassette – XT Chain – XT rear mech – It worked perfectly..

Trying to work out what the crack is. Maybe its just my frame/dropouts/gearing that does'nt like what I'm trying to do.

One last attempt I'm going to put a XT Cassette onto my bike insted of the KCNC, if it works I'll keep and worry about the extra weight when I'm finally riding the bloody thing!!!

I'm norm a 2 day delivery for pretty much everything which makes it a bit strange. I'm not in a mad hurry because I'd have paid for the quicker delivery, its just after a week its poor….

foxyrider – Todmorden. STW Towers probably bagging all the RM quota's for the area. Or maybe the fact that Prince Charles is coming to our smashing town tomorrow, sorting office may have 'lost focus'…..

RMG seem to take a beating on STW, but to be honest this is my first blip. Final bits on my new build so I was hoping to get out before summer goes till next year….

I did it a couple of years back – then it was clockwise. Great stuff especially since all the gates are open! YeeHaaa. However it is tough, not a usual 48 mile ride, but very rewarding! Can't say I'd do it again mind.

Nope – Not stiff at all.??? Just need a stiff drink now. Have another go in the morning! Luckily on my cancer research charity ride my pal leant me one of his or I'd be still pushing around now!
