Hope do not make a kit to convert a Pro 5 rear hub to 12x148mm Boost, if you have a Pro 5 rear hub it must be a 12x148mm to use in a 12x148mm frame.

    Hey Jimmy

Yes, it is correct that the qr is a through axle affair but the other options are push in/pull out. You can see all the various options here…  https://www.hopetech.com/_repository/1/documents/ConversionKitChart2023V3.1.pdf

Thanks for the post Freeride and sorry for the minor hijack… I’ve been looking for a pair of riding glasses with the happy lenses, you know the ones, the ones that brighten the day up! I cant find any anywhere though :-/ Anyone?

What did the shop do to the brake bearGrease?

There used to be some good off piste in the forrest but recent storms have wreaked havok and most of them are impassable now. Grisedale pike is well worth the effort though and there are some great ‘day out’ options up that way too, Whiteless pike etc

Traditional bleed is best, see here.. https://vimeo.com/255876176
The Hope Easy Bleed kit makes it easier as it allows you to concentrate on the caliper more.

The V4 caliper is slightly wider but the pistons self adjust so will work with the standard rotor no problem, it’s just the slots at each end of the caliper (that the rotor runs through) are slightly wider on the V4 (and the older V2) so you can run the thicker vented rotor.
P.S, dont forget to use a new copper washer when you swap the calipers over ;-)

Got some photochromic lenses for my Slivers from Galaxy optics. They dont work great but fit the frame well and quality wise are good, bloody cheap too!

This is an interesting subject! I have a Levo SL and since I started riding it I have lost that ‘I have to ride tonight or I’ll lose fitness so wont enjoy riding as much next time’ attitude. Basically, I’ve lost the anxiety I used to have about losing fitness as I know I dont actually need to be as fit as I used to think I did to enjoy riding my bike.
Make no mistake though, you can still retain fitness if you ride Ebikes, maybe not as much as with regular bikes but you can still work hard if you want to, you just go faster.

Really sorry for letting the cat out of the bag, but again, if you dont want to know a result just stay away from anywhere you might seen it until you do maybe?

Oops, TBH though, maybe not the best place to be if youre trying to avoid the result?

    3. Just how clean do you really think the battery in your ebike is? It’s the elephant in the room that nobody wants to talk about. The production of li-ion batteries is resource intensive & then when they are dead recycling them is the last thing the designers thought of. They are (ebikes), at best, an imperfect solution to a problem I know not what they were created for.
Valid point but Ebikes will be the last of your worries once all the Ecars start to die.

141mm QR Boost frames are getting more popular, still rare but more are slowly appearing. It’s not possible to convert a Hope 135/142 to 141 QR Boost but, as Gotbike says, if you fit QR end spacers (spacer kit HUB238) to a Pro 2 Evo or Pro 4 148mm Boost hub it becomes a 141mm QR Boost.

I find a couple of extra clicks of compression damping in the fork helps me mentally sometimes on really steep stuff, it kind of reassures me the front end wont dive and pitch me over the bars. It’s a mental trick but as long as you have the basics skills most tech riding is a mental game isnt it?

setting them up as the design is horrendously complicated to do it right!

Whatever you do make sure you buy it new, from a dealer. Most of the ones I’ve seen have had issues with either the battery or the motor so make sure the warranty cover is good.

You could swap the seals no problem but I’m not sure the caliper would work very well with the different leverage ratio offered by the Shimano lever, give it a go and let us know how you get on ;-)

    Buy British.

If it’s still working ok just carry on using it.

If using a spray just spray it onto a surface (into the lid of the tin?) and use a cotton bud etc to smear it around the pistons. Then push the pistons into the caliper and wipe away any excess.

If you already have a bike you can ride until restrictions are eased then dont go. If you dont have a bike, so the new one means you can get your ‘daily cycle’, then go.

Definitely try before you buy but please buy British. There are still a few quality British mattress makers still, Vi spring, Harrison etc and we should be supporting our own companies where we can, especially with a supposed recession on the way. We just bought a nice locally made pocket spring mattress for £500 and are very happy with it.

I have been pondering exactly the same thing recently, due to the remove fitting between the grip and brake I cant get the lever blade far enough over. I also use the outermost part of the grip no matter how wide I set them. Currently on the lookout for shorter grips and might even try cutting some down.

you will need a new axle (HUB229S), qr non drive side end spacer (HUB461N), 2mm axle spacer (HUB436) and a Pro 2 Evo Microspline freehub (not sure of part number for that). Do make sure you get the correct freehub as it comes with a specific end spacer, your original end spacers will not fit.
Effectively you will be converting your hub to a Pro 2 Evo Microspline.
