Lolz @ bruneep 😂. More likely to find a geo-political expert on here than a cyclist 😂😂

Here’s a thought. Perhaps if the hundreds of thousands (maybe million plus) deluded souls paying their respects were to pop a quid each in a tin (metaphorically) would soothe the savage breast of tj et al as a donation to homeless charities or hospice care? Not too late to organise it I’d expect and some good would come out of it for all.

I’ve not much to add except I was lucky enough to go to Baku for the F1 Grand Prix last year. Fascinating place outside of the bubble and I do intend to go back there for a longer mooch around. Struck by the overwhelming friendliness and inclusive atmosphere. Lovely place. I know it’s a long way from the conflict area but folks are folks aren’t they?

    I totally agree with ton.
Maybe the handful on here who don’t quite get it need to just open their hearts a little? Or is it because they can’t makes them feel somehow excluded? So feeling the need to lash out? I’mean no forelock tugger but I do reckon our monarch and the pageantry attached is the envy of most of the world.RIP Queenie and God Save the King.

2 weeks ago 83p per litre. Today we were quoted 92p.I still have about 300ltrs of a 1200ltr tank left, so I’ll probably wait it out and keep an eye on things.HaRd to tell, even our friendly oil company can’t advise.

I think many kids across the world will struggle to atone for the “sins of their fathers”. Hearteningly I reckon most of them understand, empathise and have generous enough hearts to forgive and rebuild. Pity we can’t have an upper age limit on autocrats directly involved in humanitarian decisions including declarations of hostilities ( looking at you as well UK) and keep the oldies for the technical stuff.
Looking at the world through rose tints having just spent a few wonderful hours with my lovely 19yr old grand daughter.

But the UK and the US are a vital part of NATO. As far as I’m aware the EU don”t have a united military force yet? I stand to be corrected on this. I agree that a tipping point will be reached soon, and I’m confident that our country will be at the forefront.

Lolz at binners. I wandered on to this thread cos I’ve had enough of the COD strategists on the Ukraine thread and the tory bashers on the Boris one; hoping perhaps for an epiphany from “the second coming” heralded by the new labour outfit.
Nah…just an illustration of how pathetic our chances are of finding a viable alternative worthy of a vote.

    Lolz #flying monkey corps.
Just did virtually the same. Bought a replacement cartridge and stylus for my SLQ202 from MAG for 30 odd quid and its shocking. Can’t sort the sibilant, toppy sound of it out even with an equaliser. Can’t be arsed to send it back, so hunting for recommendations for a decent one. I did buy a genuine replacement mat as well; initially thought that was a wrong ‘un as well until I realised my original one had gone rigid with age.

Newcastleton is closed. Looks like it’ll take them ages to clear, having to focus on the commercially viable timber first. Shame, it’s a lovely quiet place with trails as gnarly as you are fast.

Depends what you’re prepared to invest in it. If it’s only about you then you’re only going to be disappointed. Raise your perspective a bit and see how bad life could really be. I’m fed up with the media and selected vox pops with an agenda running my country down. I love my life and everything in it.

Well that’s me doomed. A boomer with a(admittedly old) BMW and a white van. Voted for a pro Europe candidate, actually ride a mountain bike regularly, and have no qualms about people aspiring to nice cars. Oh, and have often voted for a damn good Tory candidate.
I feel like a vulnerable minority on here…

Immigration and Customs Enforcement. An agency set up in the USA to do precisely that. It’s powers have gradually been ramped up until carte blanche was given under the Trump administration to stop and interrogate people or raid properties where a suspicion of possible illegal immigration exists. Deportations which split families and even deported ex American service personell.

Let’s have a bit less of “the young subsidising the old”. The “old” have paid for their care throughout their working lives via NI contributions, the young are simply being asked to pay for their own; because yes, they will be old one day.
Successive misuse of the funds raised are not the fault of the old, maybe if some of the young got off their backsides and voted for change and accountability things could improve.

Find a local solicitor, Open Reach/ Scottish Power are a lucrative target for them at the moment; especially around Wayleave compensation. I had a decent result recently over a pole on my property that they didn’t realise existed.

Best race for ages for me. Certainly no “procession”, look at Alonso and Perez.
It was a great mix of driver talent, team strategy and atmosphere at an iconic track. Plus the inter team shenanigans, Ocon/Alonso, Mazepin/Schumacher and Bottas sticking it to Mercedes. Max leading and ultimately winning only added to the fantastic occasion. Drivers (mostly) showing respect and team principles publicly acknowledging other’s strategic triumphs all contributed to a brilliant spectacle for F1. It all bodes well for the rest of the season for me.

Hold My Hand I’m Dying by John Gordon Davis.
Read it when I was 19 and my heart was breaking. Tale of two loves, Africa and Suzi, reading it again 46yrs later and still resonates.

Definitely. Eldest now 40 has hardly drank alcohol since his daughter was born 18 yrs ago. Younger son hammered it as far as his (and mine) cash would go up to about 30yrs old. 38 now and very rarely hits it. Me?, honestly probably average 4 cans an evening most nights for the last 20yrs. Had a good job in a corporate environment, took VR 12 months ago and now gardening about 30hrs per week. 65 yrs young with no health or mental problems and never ill; cycle around 50 miles a week either road or mtb. No reaction to either Covid jab and looking forward to another bollocking from the nurse at my next 5yr check up. Not particularly ashamed, but don’t consider myself a role model either.

Anyhoo….I get more entertainment from this forum than any other. I’ve just subscribed (out of guilt really) and look forward to seeing my first ever copy of the mag. ST Towers always sound like great people whenever they’re prodded into life; and everything around Jenn really moved me. Meant to do it ages ago.
    Good luck and crack on.

We tend to see too much of the 20-40yr old male “economic migrants” on the rampage in the media, and not enough of the heart-breaking back stories from images like this one. He reminds me of my little grandson when he’s fallen asleep playing. But neither he nor his little brothers and sisters are going to wake up, are they? Kids should not be dying terrified and alone because Europe (including the UK) cannot see beyond begrudging benefit payments to a few less deserving cases. I’m at a loss to know what to do to help; but like the OP, I need to do something.

About 8 yrs ago it cost me around £120 per panel for a 50m run of 1.5m curved pressure treated panels like yours; concrete posts and gravel boards; fitted. Sounds a bit pricey to me, stuff like this hasn’t gone up much since 2007. Pays to get it done well tho.

Newcastlton quick before they shut they first climb out of the village.

Yeah, what’s the crack with this? I was up there on saturday gone and didn’t see anything about closing the start. Are we back up to Dykehead again?

Thanks mate. I’d have thought the shop would have tried to sort it with Madison, and would have got some feedback from them when my issue was raised; but nothing. That’s why I thought I was missing something obvious. Pretty pisspoor service from them if that’s the case. I might try Madison, but the light has a reflective lens anyway, so I don’t suppose much will happen. Bit disappointed really, but heyho.

Had to do plums many moons ago pre vasectomy. Real bugger growing back, it felt like I had a hedgehog in me pants for weeks afterwards; itched like buggery. I’m not really hairy and they go blonde in the sun anyway. But if I did shave cockin’ a snook at my roadie side, then my son and his mates would rip the piss out of me on mtb days. Like to keep “tidy” down there tho’ and keep the pits at bay for stinky reasons.

Dammit. You’re right munrobiker, no tabs. Don’t fancy an adapter or bodge; just builds in a potential weakness imo. I’ll look at 1×10 again and just mtfu. Thanks for your obs lads, appreciated.

Thanks lads. Mine is a pretty light XC, 2008 Epic Marathon 100m travel but suits me and my riding (Whinlatter/Mabie/Ncsltn). I’m quite into faffing about stripping down and cleaning, so the maintenance isn’t an issue. BB clearance sounds good, but I would improve that with 1×10 anyway. Trying to convince myself to give it a try really. Nothing to lose I suppose. I think it’s an itch I’ve got to scratch.
