Caravan site at Keswick closed due to flooding, got a place at Staveley site, now working out the logistics of still riding and keeping the family happy as I’ve been reminded it’s their holiday too, a pre ride drink looks unlikely now.

Checked, both routes go up round Lattrigg, oh what joy.

Just checked the routes for the Full Massif, the web page and GPX agree and go up round Lattrigg, its the Mini Massif that the differences occur.
Rich I always thought you had a pint and arf not a singular pint !!!
Saving money (4 for the price of 3) is that your Yorkshire heritage shining through :-)

I’ll be using my trusty 26″ Cotic Rocket only bike I’ve got, though I might regret it if the Website map route of the start is correct as it goes up round Lattrig to Threlkeld, but the route on the GPS file shows it going on the coast to coast road route past the stone circle to Threlkeld and I hope it’s this that’s correct.

I’m going, taking the caravan up for the week like I did for the Jennride, have you got the pub list for the route Rich, though I’m looking forward to cow pie at the George Hotel afterwards.

I’ve been trying Igus W300 bushes as they are manufactured from tougher material, been on for 3 months now and no noticeable play yet, a bit pricier at a cost of £22 for 10

Yorkshire Stoves did ours and whilst they did a good job on the supply and installation we had a couple of issues. After a full pre installation check and pricing, when the actual work began we were told before they would only continue if we had an air vent installed in the adjacent room external wall at additional cost of £50, when they were packing up the stove was set up for wood burning we bought a multi burner after much stamping of feet they converted it. As they went through the door all the excess bricks plaster and rubbish was in the front garden when asked to remove it i was told it would cost £75, all this time I had my arm in a sling recovering from a rotor cuff op so being expected to do do this work or pay up after already paying over £2000, left a bit of a sour taste. Use them with care and only finally pay when satisfied they have done all you expect

The two that stand out for me

First Light from Rain Dances by Camel and
Funeral for a Friend from Goodbye Yellow brick Road by Elton John

Whilst I’m sure there’re many others these really did impress at the time I even saw Camel doing First Light live at Manchester Free Trade Hall even better

Yes time to dust off the 1971 PL12D and start playing some of the 1000 plus albums hidden away, streaming isn’t that what you get with a cold or man flu ?

Many thanks for all the advice really appreciated, I was hoping that someone already had this combination of CD player and amp and could advise, but I am leaning towards the Tannoy Eclipse 3 and the Q acoustics 3050, will ring around the stores and see who will be able to give a demo hopefully with the same CD and amp units. I have noticed though the issues seem to be with older CD’s my later ones sound quite good and I’m wondering if the new CD player and amp are showing up issues with music recordings not really mastered for digital world, in which case I could be on a fools errand so will take a selection of CDs for the demo. I understand the question was very open for Hi Fi choice and my budget ideally would be sub £500 but for an eye opening sound could go up to £1000

I notice the Rhea only travels at 20mph which would be a tad slow for MNPR these days so you all should be safe

Took part in the Overgate Hospice MBC on Sunday morning, a great day, great course and well organised. A great charity to support, as I get older it unfortunately seems more and more people I know are having to make use of it.

Rich did you not have good company with your pint and arf, after your Fairfield round. Here’s a photo from round my neck of the woods Gaddings Dam Todmorden, Friday, plenty swimming in distance.

That’s brilliant, I was one of the early starters so missed all the photos, apart from the ones you too at the end, I’m the guy who wondered if he was the oldest participant.

Ah one of the problems with an early start is you miss the photos, but without the early start I’d never have completed the ride. Now recognise many of the faces as they caught me up and enjoyed a bit of banter. Nice to see a few familiar faces, a couple from sporting JMC jerseys who I rode with a couple of weeks ago on a Monday Night Pub Ride round Cragg Quarry. a big hand to Rich and his many helpers, Rich is still working I had a walk into Staveley yesterday he was taking down the signage.

I don’t often post on the forum, but after reading what you are going through strikes a chord. I too had difficulty regaining fitness after surgery over 18 months ago, after much frustration over the last year I realised I was never going to be at my previous level ever and have now accepted to enjoy the ride whatever the speed and of late just started to improve a little. Three months ago I decided to retire (62 today) and after reading yours and others posts, set my self a goal to train (Todmorden / Hebden Bridge areas) and do the South Lakes 100, the one I assume you refer to in May, I just want to complete it and enjoy the days and I hope you will be able to do so also, just be realistic, we will never be racing snakes again.

HtS I assume you are involved in the HTN next week, have you enough helpers, I can help if needed, as long as I leave before 4-00pm as I have another 1 in 50 year event to attend, class of 66 reunion, sorry for hi jacking the pub Ride thread.

I had same problem with Bell sb2 helmet changed to a Montaro and have had no issues since, I did however with the Bell have some success with an icebreaker merino cap but was a bit warm for summer.

I was absolutely positive I’d never taken out PPI, but due to Mrs B’s pestering I filled out Find My. Claim that dropped through the letter box, they found a credit card from years ago that had PPI on, I got last month a 5 figure sum compensation, wish I’d used the template from Martin Lewis web page as FMC took 30% but I still got a good wedge.

postierich, the Whyte seems to have a dropper post with seat bag, what model of Alpkit is it and can you use the drop function with it and any tips on fitting, I’m new to backpacking and am trying to kit the bike I have (26″ Cotic Rocket) for the 100 Jenn Ride.

I still use mine to make phone calls, send and receive messages, take photos, send and receive emails, with memory map use it as a gps, in fact the only thing I can’t run is the singletrack app, but you can’t have everything.
