BA do a Business Class only flight out of London City to New York that stops in Shannon for US immigration (and truth be told to refuel as the little plane can’t make it all the way on one stop).

You land at NYC as a ‘domestic’ passenger to all intents and purpose so straight out onto the streets.

Pricey though being only Club class.

And reunions normally confirm the three or four things you often wondered about:
    a) no, she wasn’t that fit
    b) oh yes, she was, still is and you would…
    c) the idiots never did much with their lives
    d) the clever ones mostly did

Whilst I’ve enjoyed travelling, trying new hobbies, getting out on the bike etc. since school it was nice to have one guy I vaguely knew join our little ‘group’ chatting about old times because the school crowd he used to hang out with just repeating tales of how drunk they still got on weekend and what Marbella was like last year and he wanted to talk to people who had done something with their lives.

At our reunion last year one girl I was talking to did ask me how old I was. Err, the same age as you seeing as I was in your class at school….

The Vauxhall union guy I saw been interviewed on telly had a somewhat different attitude, more “they had us over a barrel, how dare they play this terrible game with peoples jobs, forcing terrible things on our brothers , it’s a outrage” kinda thing.

The workers themselves seemed to have been a bit more pragmatic and voted overwhelmingly for the 2 year payfreeze and other concessions in place of being made redundant…

gave me neutral feedback which was totally uncalled for.

Maybe in his mind you’d flogged him some shonky gear and he wanted to warn other people? Not that I’m not believing your version of events.

To the OP – I’d suggest (like everyone else) just offering a return, add the buyer to your blocked list and relist them.

Thisisnotaspoon – For the landlord figures you need to subtract £2000 for payment off capital (I.e. He’s payed off a portion of the mortgage). Eventually the landlord will stop paying the mortgage whereas you will continue paying rent and he/she will have a 100k asset (even assuming no growth in house price).

Short term rental ‘view’ against long term houseowner view. That’s probably the difference, and depends on your outlook.

Almost seems as though Miliband was voted in as a caretaker on the assumption Cameron would last a decent length of time but now it feels like he might actually outlast him, which’d be dismal.

Yeah, I got the impression Ed was there to be a buffoon for a while, then when elections were looming he’d get the boot and someone votable would be elected Lab leader.

Someone on here once told me buying a house and getting a mortgage was a crazy notion

And also a person who was telling everyone a few years ago he’d sold his house because the bubble was going to burst and he would rebuy in a few years time when prices were half what they were then. He must have spent an awful lot of money on rent for absolutely no reason.

To the OP – never a ‘perfect’ time to buy but if you’ve the deposit and the funds then go for it. Even in 5 years time when you sell for no profit, remember how much five years worth of rent is that you’ve not spent.

If its got a decent sized garage you could fit a tank, or even a armoured personnel carrier then even better 😛

Going controversial here but I prefer the Madison Flux to the Spoon, and its basically the same saddle with slightly (softer) padding. And, cheaper 😛

How about some reflective decals for the times you use them for the late night commute? 😉

I thought cantis were supposed to be more powerful than mini Vs

Nah, the CX riders use cantis to slow themselves down a bit, not to stop like you might, say, on a commute!!!

I’d never go back to cantis. Certainly not on the front after a lot of judder issues. Refresh the ones you’ve got with a new set of pads.

Certainly changing the rules so that things the referees don’t spot/act on can be punished after the fact. Drogba going down like a sack of spuds after being ‘hit’ in the face when he clearly wasn’t touched, for instance.

Now go through all your online accounts with those websites you use and change your details/email addresses before you lose the BT email address and lose all those useful emails confirming your orders, telling you payments ahve been made etc!

Whats your plans for the future?

What will happen is you use your old car as deposit, pay the 36 months or whatever, and when it’s time to renew you’ll get nothing above the guaranteed rate for the car, i.e. you’ll have no deposit for a new car. You can’t get a loan to pay for the deposit as you’ll be paying that plus the finance for the next car together.

If you keep it you’ll still be financing on a 2nd hand car paying top book price for the priviledge.

Oh, and if you hand it back like I did then make sure they contact the finance section to tell them you’ve handed it back – I ended up with a black mark on my credit record for nonpayment of loan I never realised about until I remortgaged. Quickly resolved once they realised I was a one page article in one of the car magazines expressing my plight that month!

Worth getting a dinky little chain tool separately and a little microtool? The Park and Topeak chain tools I have a pretty small and a lot easier to use than the ones on other multitools I’ve tried.

Cons won’t care. Mid terms are just ‘protest’ votes. Come the real crunch at General Election time people will abandon UKIP back to Cons, and some of those who voted Labour will sit down beforehand and think, mmm, do I really really want Ed Milliband running the country?

Expect hand wringing from Cons saying things have to get worse before they get better (hey, maybe conveniently in time for the next election? Tax breaks anyone?)

Though Lib Dems must be worried. They could be wiped out at a General if they lose much more of the vote to the main parties.

I remember people in 2000 thinking prices were too high, hope they eventually took the plunge.

I remember a guy on here a few years ago proudly declaring he’d sold his house because there was going to be a massive crash in prices and everyone else was frankly an idiot as he’d be picking up our (repossessed) houses for a fraction of our mortagages. Don’t think that risk paid off.

And yes, I remember struggling for my first house many years ago.

I can’t be the only person that see’s the fact that they did not even both interviewing ‘arry is a deliberate snub and an implication that those in the know realise he “got away with it” and was not proven to be guilty rather than actually proven to be innocent.

Just give them a ring and ask for it to be reduced.

I’d rather do that than do as slowoldgit does – I’d personally rather have the £200 in my account earning money for me (albeit tiny amounts) than adding any more profit for elec company etc.

I think the example that Miller sends is more useful than a lifetime ban – it’s either ‘drugs are bad mmmmkay’ or ‘drugs are bad, I know because it cost me etc etc etc’. Would someone with a lifetime ban be bothered about trying to stop younger athletes being tempted to dope?

Is it a better example? Millar riding along in the TdF (or the World Champs, or even the Olympics) telling impressionable young riders his tales of woe. How he never rode for a top team again, competed in his dream of the Olympics, earned loads of money after been caught etc. etc. – yes, if he was riding the Barnsley 50km sportif as it was the only ride he is allowed to do, then yes.

Like some ex/caught drug dealer leaning out of his blinged up Range Rover telling kids on the street not to deal drugs as ‘look what happened to me’.

I’ve not read Millars book (or commonly called my version of events ), he does come across a bit too Born Again Christian to me.

I’m really not decided on how I feel about Millar (for some reason I can’t stand Chambers) at the Olympics. If he was the one cheat I’d say no, but kinda assuming there’ll be others there is blurring the lines. Which is actually a sad indictment of sport isn’t it?

Arcam do one as well called the rCube, think that’s getting better reviews than the Zep.

Portable too – you use it as a dock, or plug the rWand dongle into your iProduct. Not Airplay mind, but means you can buy a USB dongle too and play music from PC. And it’ll handle multiroom if wallets are deeper in the future.

Phillips do an Airplay thingy called the Fidellio Soundring. Anything called Soundring must be worth checking out. IIRC there is a portable version as well as a mains only.

Aren’t you meant to automatically get the specified school for your catchment area?

(Have all this to come so don’t know what the real situation is).

Nope, there isn’t really a ‘catchment’ area per se. If 50 kids live 10 metres form the school then that’s the catchment area they’ll use. Kids with siblings already at the school will get higher priority regardless of distance than you and special needs are normally top of the list. After that (and any other criteria) is a straight a-b distance to the school from your house. Last year, 22 slots were filled out of 40 with siblings in our ‘local’ school which didn’t leave much room for anyone else.

And as a tip, always fill in all three choices. Don’t just think I’ll fill in School ‘A’ as that’s the one I want and if I don’t give any other alternative that’s what I’ll get. If you don’t get that school you’ll just be given a spare place at a less popular school once everyone else 2nd and 3rd choices are filled. That’s when you start driving a distance to a shabby school that feeds into an even shabbier secondary school.

Certainly ask to be put on the waiting list, it’s not rare to have kids go off to Private Schools, I can’t remember the exact date in the year to have to confirm you are definitely taking the school place.

To be honest, not sure if ‘it’s too far to walk’ is a valid excuse to appeal.

Think there was a BBC article on this recently.

Issues also with house insurance as well as mortgages.

And IIRC they were reducing the rates you would get for the energy as well.

If you do have a partner/wife, consider getting two single policies to cover your and them seperately – it works out pretty close to the same cost, but you get a payout on each death rather than just first one.

Useful for kids – first one pays off house, second allows them to afford live there 🙂
