I’m off to Cyprus in a couple of weeks so this topic was topical, so to say.

I’ll drop Paul a line but I’ll be at the other end of the island staying in Aiya Napa! Does anyone have any contacts for this side of the Island, or at least the East side?

    TIA

Have you used the GPSies website, there’s a few good trails listed on there and you can download the gpx files to follow?

Any links to the local companies? I’d prefer to join a guided tour if possible?

Looks like the lifts will be closed when I go so I’ll be looking for long open XC loops and less DH hardcore stuff.

Do you have any GPX files for the area or similar?

Good question, sorry I can’t help answer but will be interested to see any replies, I’m planning to be there myself the first week of October and will also be trying to get out and ride.

Have you found a bike hire place yet? What type of riding you looking for?

Just bought my son the MX24, he’s 8 in August and 130cm tall, rides with the post quite far down. I’d say with your daugthers height I’d definately buy 24″ wheels now, especially coming from the 20″ as the jump to 26″ would be huge for her.

Have a slim PS wallet myself, nice and soft leather with no sharp edges, currently wearing/ageing well at 5 years old.

It’s defintately going to be your fault…..

You are clearly a terrible husband who only thinks of himself! A proper man would clearly offer to share his clean license and take some points for her!

Thanks for the replies, went for a pair of those Wellgos from China, should work well with the new Salomon trainers he’s got for Orienteering as well.

Natrix, yes he has the Bolanoy but our local riding is quite easy on bikes with generally low wear so we’ve not seen the same issues as you have.

Big shout out to Edelmann Bikes in Kassel, I rocked up and they went out the way to help me out and get me riding. Ended up riding out on a retro Yeti and toured the forest area west of Kassel, beautiful ride, warm and sunny.

Swish is bloody brilliant here in Sweden, everyone has it, honestly haven’t used cash to buy anything for more than 2 years now. Swish is an instant, free and secure way to pay for things, both in shops and private.

Glad you got it fixed, just be prepared for it to lose pressure after a couple of hours riding if not! Lol, bad joke.

Think my SRAM syringes fitted better in the lever port, so when I pulled out the oil from the caliper it pulled down the oil/syringe from the lever. Creates quite a high vacuum doing it this way as you’re pulling the oil through rather than pushing it through, but this was what solved my problem.

I had weeks of similar issues bleeding my MT8s over an over again, could even get it clear only to lose pressure half way through a marathon race. Got to the point I was looking to scrap them and buy a different set!

In the end I solved it by not using the Magura bleed kit and instructions as on Youtube, but instead using my SRAM bleed kit parts. My problem was as mentioned above, sucking in air from the lever syringe under vaccum. To properly bleed it I had to use a lot of vacuum pressure to pull the air out and I could do that once the lever leak was solved.

So decent syringes with tight fittings and high vacuum seems to be the solution.

Ängelholm has been my home town for over 11 years now so it’s funny to hear people on STW talking about it.

Some good options listed, there’s a lot on offer in Southern Sweden in the summer so you really need to decide where you want to stop between drives and what you want to do. Camp site at Mölle offers a nice location for access to Kullaberg national park. Söderåsen nationial park is raw beauty for those who like to roam free.

Båstad is a nice location but it’s full of Stockholmers around the summer/tennis week so best avoided at all costs, unless you’re a tennis nut. Next to here is Hallandåsen ridge where there’s some great riding or hiking, there’s even a DH park there is you’re into that, more enduro than proper DH but still fun (I built some of the origional trails there).

The South East corner of Skåne is also beautiful, normally quiter and has some beautiful beaches like Ängelholm. I’ve camped at a nice place called Kivik, famed for its cider.

Up at Gothenberg you have the archipelago which are very popular and very beautify, and the city is quite nice as well.

Billund is a must for kids and parents alike, been every year for the last 5 lol, and La Landia water park, my recommendation would be 1 day at LaLandia and 1.5/2 at Lego land to really get the most from it.

Fantastic city, I thought it was like a cultural mini San Fransico, absolutely loved it.

There’s also fantastic cycling locally, I had the owner of Funbike at Sintra pick me up from my hotel in Lisbon at 12:00 and was out in the hills riding by 13:00 with a local guide, 3hr tour in the hills and back at the hotel for 17:00, flippin brilliant ride out.

45NRTH Japanthers here in Sweden, very impressed with them, doing 4+ hours MTB rides in sub zero temps and feet wam. Also did a recent 3 hours MTB ride in +2 degrees, almost worst than minus temps because all the water wasn’t frozen so up to axles in water at points but feet stayed dry and warm.

Strangely the only time my feet have started to get cold was from a build up of sweat in the socks over the hours that inside the boot makes your feet cold given the outside air temp is below zero. Not sure how to avoid this yet but been trying a few different pairs of sock to see if it helps.

The Stiga snow racer is a good option for controlled fast sledging, you can also get a version with proper bars on lol.

Me last weekend at the old local ski slope at the top of their gnarliest hill, you’re never too old….

You guys get an early race season start, here in Southern Sweden we have to wait until the very end of April for the season start.

My focus this year is on the largest Southern Sweden race series called the X-Cup, normally 7 rounds of XC racing at different venues. It’s the most popular series in Sweden and has a good selection or courses. Open racing and hour long with minimal classes.

Then I’ll do the Mitsubishi MTB Challenge rounds that are within a 4 hour drive from my house, XC Marathon racing.

Keeping the S-Works Epic WC for another season at least, was tempted to change but blown all my funds on the new Parlee road build. Just need to get the dampers serviced, seem ok but they’re 2 yeasr old now so I guess I need to be certain everythings ok.

Stick at it weeksy, you have a plan!

I have stopped racing Zwift now since Xmas, took 5 days of with a cold over Xmas and then back to it. I’ve now switch to TrainerRoad fully and have a 20 week plan before the first XC race of 2018.

Talking of which, I have a 1 month free trail for TrainerRoad if anyone would like to try it for free, just drop me a line with your e-mail.

Thanks for the replies, the PcW park looks a bit too corporate for my liking. JMBC have some great download maps on their site that look spot on, but I need a bike hire also! I’ve been given a tip for Hunter Cycles in Melville, so I’ll see what they say.

Parlee Z1 under construction, mainly black carbon everything but had the forks and seat post custom air brushed with some colour then clearcoated so you can still see the carbon weave underneath, very happy with the results.

Will a will have Vittoria Corsa G+ tans fitted soon also.

So you can! Actually the person in question was 2 in front of me, and his weight is stated as 65kg, apparently. So either he’s 16kg lighter than me or he’s lying!
