I’d just like to state that anyone that puts ketchup on a roast dinner is Northern scum, regardless of whether they actually come from the North.

I don’t really enjoy any MTB magazines these days, I don’t really like any snowboarding ones either.

Thrasher was always great, but I don’t skate anymore. Hmm…actually, Surfer’s Path is usually a good read.

im astonished that anyone would pay a record company 15 quid for an album

Me too, but that’s what I used to do in the early/mid 90’s and £15 was equivalent to 6 hours pay (before stoppages) to me then.

Most chart/new release albums are £8-10 now and you can get pretty much whatever back catalogue you like from Amazon, typically for £5 or so (with free postage).

FWIW, I tend to agree. I wonder though whether if, say, Col. Jorge Mendonca…blah blah blah

Colonel Jorge Mendonca was cleared of all charges.

Why are you seeking to blacken the name of a man that you will never come close to matching up to?

More ‘Yank’ bashing (not that the good people of North Carolina would appreciate being referred to as Yanks).

If you are under 35 you are going to be forced to share a house. No flat no mater how modest. You will only be allowed the rent of a single room.

When I moved to London most of my peers, even on fairly good salaries had to house-share. Thats what working people do, why shouldn’t the our of work?
    Posted 47 seconds ago # Report-Post

    Hear hear!

All of my London friends (aged between 28-33) are in house shares/flat shares. They include several solicitors, a barrister, two teachers, three social workers, a police officer, an architect, an accountant, an IT consultant and various civil servant types. All of them are on fairly decent incomes, some very good…but they all live in house shares/flat shares.

Nice bit of social cleansing going here if some of you had your way.
    Posted 7 seconds ago # Report-Post

    WTF?

I (and I’m guessing you) along with 95% of those that will read this have already been ‘socially cleansed’ from swish London boroughs. Similarly,
we’ve been ‘socially cleansed’ from Maserati dealerships, 7 star Dubai hotels and Patek Philippe showrooms. Personally, i don’t lose any sleep over that, but £1,600 is more than many working people (remember them?) take home in a month. Indeed, it’s more than many gross in a month.

Don’t you think it’s time we all got real?

    bravohotel9er

Holy Mary Mother of God, so people are ONLY going to be given up to £1,600 (per month!) of tax payers’ money to spend on rent and not a penny more?

Won’t somebody please think of the children?

All this talk of people having to move out of wealthy areas is bollocks. Move into cheaper accommodation or move somewhere you can afford to live.
I can’t afford to live in Kensington and Chelsea, Alderley Edge or Sandbanks, so I don’t.

I can’t afford a BMW M5 either, but if somebody wants to give me £1,600 per month, I think I could make it happen.

If Howies has gone from niche (we like niche here don’t we?) skate/bike inspired gear to w@nk designer gear aimed at the kind of people who buy jack Wills, then who are the new Howies?

    Finisterre.

It’s not cheap either, but the quality is second to none.

I actually have four of these.

One in use, one in repairs, one being built up ready for deployment and a fourth held back in reserve.

It’s all proving prohibitively expensive though, so I’m going to get a fleet of nuclear submarines instead.

    Nothing wrong with down jackets/vests.

Just about everyone in Canada wears them. I lived in my Penfield down vest out there.

Ha ha …have a Nixon jib Fest vid with Jp walker and the forum boys…..its unwatchable. same trick , then switch, the 180 in , cab in ….then same again on a kinked rail , then a curved rail…all to hip hop with loads of back slappin and super baggy gear.

When I was younger I was quite into the whole Forum thing, but years later I was in a bar in Chamonix and ran into JP Walker and his entourage…

Never have I met such an industrial strength, ocean going, top of the class, weapons grade prick in all my life…..and I’m a frequent user of South West Trains! Really nasty guy, he was being really off-hand with some quite young fans who wanted stuff signed and making derogatory comments about the bar staff and so on.

I see he rides for/co-owns Stepchild now…it’s almost enough to make me sell my Simon Chamberlain 157!

I tend to have my iPod with me for long lifts/cable cars, but don’t tend to ride with music as you lose the ability to sense people cutting across you/overtaking etc.

I make an exception for the park though, sometimes a little Municipal Waste can provide the encouragement you need to try something silly.

The original DC MTN Lab video had a good soundtrack.

Quite like the Frou Frou track at the beginning/title sequence, very atmospheric.

I’m glad snowboard videos have moved on a bit from the days of relentless hip-hop and rail sections!

    Because it would be barbaric.

I work for the probation service and we get asked this question every now and again. Personally, for repeat offenders I’d favour life without the possibility of parole, but this is the UK and even that is deemed a little too draconian.

    Dorset certainly won’t be cheaper.

Biggest gap between local incomes and property prices in the country I believe. As we say, it’s where people come to die, then don’t!
