    It has to be Bergerac.

I particularly liked the way that despite Jersey being about the same size as the park at the end of my road Jim was constantly finding villages that he’d never been to before. I thought that showed a surprising lack of imagination on his part.

    Loved it.

Brilliant soundtrack and Gosling even manages to make double denim a viable option once again for the devastatingly handsome thirty-something man. And me.

I’ll always have a soft spot for Rockhoppers. I remember when my cousin bought one many years ago, he let me borrow it and it was a revelation to me. I’d never ridden a ‘proper’ MTB before and couldn’t get over how good it was.

Ilfracombe isn’t that bad really, though I wouldn’t want to live there (or indeed any small coastal resort) on a permanent basis.

I quite like the tunnels and imagine it’d be a decent enough place to take the kids for a week. Plus easy access to Croyde and Woolacombe etc etc

I stayed there once with an awful ex-girlfriend. She wanted to laze about watching soaps, meanwhile I went surfing and met loads of lovely people.

Fair enough, but this dog wasn’t provoked in any way. I was walking past it, didn’t even look at it.
Yes, any breed can turn, but given the choice I’d rather be attacked by a little yappy thing that can be easily booted over the cross bar, rather than by some 12 stone beast that could quite easily kill an adult.

I’m surprised that the owner hasn’t been round. A mark of the man?

Somehow I didn’t really expect him to come round, I just don’t really expect people to do the right thing these days, it’s always a nice surprise when people do actually do the honourable thing.

When I was knocked off my bike on a roundabout (my priority, lights, Hi-Vis jacket blah blah blah) , the driver who witnessed the incident drove off explaining ‘Sorry, late for the cinema!’…some people just seem to have have warped priorities these days

I’ve kept the jacket, so maybe they’ll send some sort of canine CSI team round (glamorous, clad in Armani, driving a Hummer) :-)

Re: ‘Yappy’ breeds, they often seem to come in pairs too. That way they can wind each other up all day long so as to ensure that the yapping never ends! On the plus side, best burglar alarms going.

I’m still waiting for a member of the wildfowl community to congratulate the Rottweiler on doing the right thing by attacking me, maybe it just took exception to my down jacket? :P

ETA: I like dogs, so much so that I even own one of my very own! I included ‘Rottweiler’ in the thread title for that is what it was, in much the same way that if I was seeking information about VW Golfs I would specify that rather than ‘Tell me about cars!’ or suchlike.

I know Rotties get a bad press, but that happened to be the breed on this occasion. I’ll be sure to report back with any sightings of renegade King Charles Cavalier Spaniels too :-)

    RA RA SHOUTY SHOUT.

Not really sure of the relevance of including the breed of the dog in the title. Probably wouldn’t be as provocative if the thread was titled ‘Attacked by a dog outside my home’. Either way if it was a Pug or a Mastif an attack by a dog should be reported and you’re going to have to deal with the consequences.

Or you could just shy away for an easy life and do nothing about it.

You know the thing you should be doing you just seem to want the internet to tell you it would be ok to do the easy thing.

Sit on it Cunningham and take the outrage bus back to the depot

I’ve reported it to the police (on the non-emergency number, obviously) and will now wait for them to do whatever it is they do about this type of thing. Bugger the jacket, no chance of getting any money back for that (and better that than a ‘child’s face’ etc etc). I like dogs, but if this one ends up getting put-down it may be for the best.

Not had any trouble with the mobile side of things, but the broadband was hideously bad, then they kept charging me long after I’d cancelled my contract in writing (post-expiry). In the end i had to cancel my direct debit and it took me 4 months to get my money back.

I for one am sick and tired of seeing tax payers money wasted on Sting and his self-indulgent life of tantric sex, bad acting and weekend breaks in the rainforest.

I’ve been, but only to attend ATP (All Tomorrow’s Parties) and there aren’t any err…’normal’ people there whilst those are on.

It’s always amusing observing the workers looking perplexed at the sight of thousands of scrawny bearded men (and a few girls in spectacles) watching the likes of Slint and Broken Social Scene, then asking ‘Are these bands famous?’

They need to narrow the aisles in supermarkets that contain the cakes, biscuits, choc, crisps etc.

Anyone over 12 stone wouldn’t be able to fit down them.

    Alternatively, treadmills at the tills?

A fun idea I had a while back (probably entirely unworkable, but…) was a pasty kiosk in a ski resort. The humble pasty strikes me as quite possibly the perfect ski resort snack. You can keep your crepes and your 25 Euro saucisson et frites, I reckon it could work.
Then you could expand across the Alps, there must be more than enough Brits in the likes of Meribel, Les Arcs and Chamonix to make it work.

In light of their incredibly cooperative handling of a multitude of PIRA suspects during the 80’s and 90’s, I think we should carefully consider every single extradition request they make.

And then, do absolutely nothing about it.

Dragon DXS are the smaller version of the Dragon DX.

For what it’s worth (not a lot), I’ve used three different pairs of Dragon DX over the past 16 years and they’ve been great. All three pairs still 100% intact too.

I believe the official conspiracy theory is that a civilian jumbo painted in the colours of the Chilean national airline will fake an emergency landing (in spite of the fact that there are no unscheduled flights that go anywhere near the islands and it would be easy to check with the Chileans whether it was one of theirs). Then quite inexplicably, said jumbo will be permitted to land. The moment it lands Argentine ‘special forces’ (no combat experience ever) will leap out and seize the base. Obviously, the RIC will all be hillwalking or counting penguins at the time and the RAF Regiment wouldn’t be the least bit curious about what was going on. Then everyone files out onto the runway, lines up and surrenders.

    Simple.

Without a UK aircraft carrier capability they could walk in tomorrow and we’d be able to do squat anyway.

What, with their non-existent amphibious capability and the same Skyhawks they had last time?

You better inform the Governor so he can prepare to surrender the islands.

Every single American in Afghanistan, from the Ambassador right down to Shonikwaa who operates the milkshake machine at the Bagram Airbase Dairy Queen lined up and confiscated a koran from an Afghan detainee before throwing them onto a giant fiery pit. All around them flaming crucifixes illuminated the night sky whilst Slayer played a cover version of Disco Inferno.

Later on everyone gathered around to sing ‘America, **** Yeah’ in an utterly non-ironic way before pissing themselves laughing as they imagined you crying yourself to sleep under a pile of soggy Guardian editorials.

It’s nothing personal believe me, that’s just what ALL Americans are like. All of them. Except Cher, she’s lovely.

At the risk of sounding unfeeling and uncaring, she did know what she was letting herself in for.

I hate it when people trot this hackneyed old line out…

I’m imagining a world where everyone shared your viewpoint and we had no emergency services, coastguards, military, RNLI/mountain rescue volunteers, adventurers/explorers, anyone involved in any remotely dangerous sports and everyone worked on one massive IT support team, all repeatedly asking each other for their job number until the end of time.

Have had my Manhattan Portage Europa for 6 years now, daily use and not a mark on it.

However, I note that they’re £89 now. I ordered mine direct from MH (before they had a UK webstore) and only paid £50!
