I second emusic, it’s the indie iTunes (there’s plenty other than indie rock on there though).

Oh, it’s not free either, but it’s good value and very well laid out.

The best illegal site was Audio Galaxy, but that bit the dust many years ago.

I’ve only been to one seated gig and that was Prince at the 02.

We didn’t stay seated for very long, incredible experience and a total contrast to the usual indie rock/hardcore punk in dingy venues that I’m used to.

I couldn’t get over the price of the merchandise though…some of the t shirts were £65 and there was a Prince pillow case for £80!

Loads of 40 something women wearing somewhat ill advised purple outfits too.

    So, how was it then?

Wanted to go see them in Leeds but no one else I know is into them.

It’s okay to go to gigs on your own now and again!

Always loved the Rock/Polzeath/Padstow Triangle (as nobody calls it), stopped going there so frequently from the late 90’s onwards though when half of Radley/Marlborough etc descended on it every summer.

Does anyone else actually wish them well?

I’m not particularly fussed about the royal family and wouldn’t consider myself any sort of staunch monarchist, but republicans often seem so bitter and twisted.

Young helicopter pilot (who in common with you, I and everyone else is a hapless contestant in the genetic lottery) marries young woman. Until the footage emerges of them stabbing kittens for pleasure, I’m happy that they’re happy.

Watched them in Southampton last night, they’re in fine form.

That said, they’ve never been in anything other than fine form on the previous occasions I’ve watched them.

Set was about 90 mins long and spanned all five studio albums.

Surf shops seem to want to throw in a board bag as well as the leash and inevitable block of Mr.Zoggs these days.

You used to expect free grip tape with a new skate deck, snowboard shops don’t usually bother with anything, but a free service seems to be on offer every now and again.

I don’t ask for discounts at my LBS (Primera, Charminster) as they’re good guys with great mechanics who’ve always been really helpful.

I’d be factoring a divorce into it too.

One of my friends recently gave up being a driving instructor after nearly three years.

She said that what really killed it for her was the selfishness of many of her students. They were in the habit of cancelling lessons via text message, often just five minutes or so before the lesson was due to begin. The knock-on effect was that she was left with too much dead time and couldn’t earn enough money to make it worthwhile.

Which one in the question might you festoon?

    Oh, the festooning was great!

The trouble was her constant panic about everything, I tried to be as supportive as possible, but I never knew which evrsion of her was going to show up. She hated her job and I was trying to help her to get into something else, but it was no use in the end.

The final straw was discovering the reason she was always skint (in spite of earning a reasonable salary and living at home with her parents), she owned a house that she had neglected to tell me about. It was in negative equity and she couldn’t sell it. Bit strange not telling your boyfriend something like that after a year, no?

To be fair, I’ve been quite lucky…she’s the only genuine wild card that I’ve ever dated.

Just remembered an incredible single called ‘You Suck’ by the charmingly named Yeastie Girls, it’s a heartbreaking account of the protagonist’s attempts to get her selfish boyfriend to return certain favours.

Also, not strictly industrial, but any love for PWEI here?

That was my first ever gig, Galaxian Patrol Tour 1992 at Guildford Civic Hall. Thanks to my 18 year old cousin for inviting the 12 year old me along!

Carl Crack died of a heroin OD, but ATR’s line-up was always something of a moveable feast with Alec the only constant feature.

They’ve got Nic Endo back now as Hanin Elias backed out of the reunion in spite of the fact that she is alleged to have been the driving force behind it. Nic Endo contributed more vocals to ATR though and is at least as dynamic a performer as her.

CX Kidtonik has joined to perform MC duties and he’s a force of nature. I watched them at Southampton Talking Heads back in November and they were most definitely not just going through the motions….looking forward to hearing the new record as a result.

I know you’re already more than aware of Atari Teenage Riot, but new album out later this year.

Additionally, I think there’s a London show and maybe some others in April.

It can be anywhere from 12-60.

I average around 36 hours per week though. I’m only working 12 hours next week and am dreading it, nothing worse than having too much time to kill.

Silver Sun! Now, there’s a blast from ther past. Lava is one of my favourite singles of all time, for a while it seemed like they were a British Weezer (I’m thinking Blue/Pinkerton era). That debut album is brilliant.

Like: The Afghan Whigs – Sheer emotional intensity. Greg Dulli writes love songs, but not in the conventional sense. Drawing on his seemingly endless experience of deeply dysfunctional relationships Dulli’s explore themes of regret, revenge and hedonism. You can’t go wrong with any of their albums, but for me Gentlemen (the regret album), Black Love (the revenge album) and 1965 (the hedonistic album) represent a holy trinity. Equal parts sinner and sinned against, his lyrcis are sublime.

Dislike: Embrace (the plodding sub-pubrock Huddersfield melody stranglers rather than the awesome Washington DC emo pioneers) – Why? Just listen to them.

There is a FREE bus service from the BSM funicular to BSM railway station so don’t torture yourself by dragging your boardbags/suitcases etc up and down a million and one stairs and across that massive bridge!

It is a bit of an eye opener, but I think a lot of a certain type of ex-pat seems to read it.

I’m thinking of those people who emigrate then like to do the old country down by sniping from afar or those that aren’t really all that happy with their new lives and seek constant validation that Blighty is doomed or something.

They seem to be publishing a lot of US-centric news stories and US celebrity stuff now too.

It’s not very sophisticated, but I wouldn’t call it racist.

It draws on the fact that some of the more traditional names that have long since fallen out of favour in Britain, have maintained their popularity in the Caribbean and amongst the Caribbean diaspora.

A fair proportion of those black Winstons will be named for Winston Churchill.

It really isn’t. Not wanting to do something but doing it all the same – like killing 100 civilians to kill a dozen terrorists – could, perhaps even should, be considered morally inferior.

Perhaps it’s a vanity result. Much like the way in which women’s clothing sizes have been tinkered with in order that Lucy from HR can con herself into thinking she’s a 10, when she looks like a galleon in full sail.

It’s something of a logical leap of faith to draw moral equivalency between people who deliberately murder civilians in an airport and uniformed members of the military who accidentally kill non-combatants.

Whilst the result of the latter is no less serious, it is a deeply unfortunate consequence rather than the hoped for result.
