I’m amazed they have taken so long. You can’t allow a leader to kill their own people. You have to smack them down to send a message to all the other despotic regimes out there.

Be interesting to see what planes UK commit to this and what its going to do for the airframe life. You’ll be needing those harriers back soon.

Air defence variant was scrapped in 2006.

We might have a few up-armoured Chipmunks available.

Issey Miyake ‘L’eau d’Issey’ seems to go down well.

Paul Smith ‘Extreme’ has a similar fresh scent.

Hugo Boss ‘Boss’ is an old standby too.

Here we go again, I know a fair few ‘drug dealers’ and used to be one once upon a time myself. Regardless of people’s chosen vocation, they are still human beings. And whilst middle England may find the notion of ‘drug dealing’ abhorrent, those of us who grew up in places like Liverpool, London & Glasgow etc, know that it’s a fact of life and just a job, a way to get out of having nothing in a place where deprivation and criminality is generational and endemic. I was all too familiar with that world, as was Smiley, no shame in that where we come from, just doing what is necessary…

    Something smells fishy…

I’ve witnessed plenty of bullying over the years, but never someone that weedy taking on someone that big. The big guy doesn’t need to fight back, just sit on the kid. I think the little punk was set up. Still, deserved everything he got.

His much bigger mate appeared to be acting in a stand-off role, even he seemed taken aback by the response though.

No sympathy for that little git.

not trying to be funny and I couldn’t hear/understand the voices but how/why is it attempted bullying by the little kid?

    Did you actually watch that?

Once again I’m calling for a new sub-forum for the exclusive use of people who just want to reply to stuff, but without reading/watching the OP’s post!

I use PIKE 454 Coil U-Turn, never found them that heavy.

I think a lot of this weight obsession stuff is just getting out of hand now. My hardtail weighs a little over 30lbs all told, never had any trouble riding it up hills. It’s always amusing when you hear 15/16 stone guys chatting about the latest ultra lightweight components when the same effect could be achieved by foregoing that second doughnut!

Unless you’re competing in XC races at a high level it just doesn’t matter.

    Here’s a tip: BOOK CLUB!

There’ll be at least one in your area. I’ve just joined one, only one other chap attends and you know as a given that all of the ladies gathered there can read…which if internet dating has taught me anything, is an increasingly rare commodity these days.

I’ve saved money on expensive ipods by simply thinking of a tune and humming it. If I want to switch tracks, I simply think of another song I like and hum that instead

I find that drinking replicates the ‘shuffle’ effect.

Troll….. I assume as many on here will be facing an uncertain future ?

I’ve been on a ‘zero hours’ contract for the past two years and have to reapply for my position on an annual basis, whilst my income has remained fairly static I’ve long since forgotten what job security is actually like!

On the plus side, I’ve really managed to get it together in terms of saving money. The knowledge that each pay cheque could be my last has turned me into an avid ISA topper-upper.

I know kids in Warrington had to make do with bare feet and the only excitement that came to the town was when the IRA held a fireworks display

It wasn’t particularly exciting for three year old Johnathan Ball or twelve year old Tim Parry.

I was berated by a deranged woman in a New York bar once who heard my accent and decided that I must have been in some way responsible for Bloody Sunday. She was one of those tiresome Yanks who’ve convinced themselves that they are Irish or ‘Eye-Errrrr-Ish’ as she put it.

It soon became apparent that she knew nothing about Ireland and that her main qualification for co-opting somebody else’s cultural heritage was that she was ginger. I asked her what she thought of My Lai.

    ‘My what?’, she replied.

So, I filled her in on the massacre, but it was to no avail. She’d never heard of it, neither had her friends and all of them refused to believe that the event had ever occurred.

No expensive public enquiry at My Lai village hall, no drama on CBS about it etc etc

Scrappy performance by England and the Irish must fancy their chances now.

As an aside, is Scottish rugby doomed in the long term?

Edinburgh and Glasgow their only two professional teams and the traditional Scottish rugby hearltands in the borders now marginalsied.
Player pool down from 24,000 to 12,000 in barely over a decade, it doesn’t look promising.

These massive news events do bring out the very worst kind of inane reportage, particularly on rolling news channels.

There was some incredible stuff on Sky News the other day…

‘We’re seeing footage of some buildings. They appear to be…well, as I’m sure you can see…they are damaged. I imagine the reconstruction will take some time etc etc’

Further to my last, just been reading about the somewhat complex issues surrounding the use of anthems at Ireland internationals…

For the benefit of any other puzzled English types like me:

The Irish rugby union team is one of a few national sporting teams on the island that draws widespread support in both Northern Ireland and the Republic, and from both nationalist and unionist communities. As Ireland represents players from different sovereign territories, there has been controversy over the flags and anthems. When Irish internationals were played alternately in Belfast and Dublin, the British national anthem “God Save the Queen” was played for matches in Belfast and the national anthem of the Republic of Ireland “Amhrán na bhFiann” was played for matches in Dublin. No anthem was played at away games.

Since April 1995, a specially composed anthem, “Ireland’s Call” has been used by the Irish team in away games.[15] This has prompted some players and supporters from the Republic to complain that “Amhrán na bhFiann” should be played.[16] At games played in Dublin “Ireland’s Call” is always used alongside “Amhrán na bhFiann”.[17] This use of “Amhrán na bhFiann” has caused similar complaints from players and supporters from Northern Ireland.[citation needed] With Ireland’s friendly game against Italy in the run up to the Rugby World Cup scheduled to be held in Belfast, there were calls for “God Save the Queen” to be used alongside “Ireland’s Call” but this was turned down by the IRFU[18] with the explanation given that it was not a ‘home’ match because the team would be playing “outside Ireland”.[19]

Similarly, the Irish tricolour, the official flag of the Republic of Ireland, is flown only when playing in the Republic. A flag with symbols representing the four provinces of Ireland is flown alongside the Irish tricolour in Dublin, and is used exclusively when playing elsewhere.[citation needed] At some matches, the standard of the island’s rugby union governing body, the Irish Rugby Football Union, is displayed on the field during pre-match ceremonies.[citation needed]

    It’s a pretty rousing anthem, isn’t it?

Is it the actual national anthem that they use? I see to recall that they use a different one for the rugby given that the team are representing the ‘island of Ireland’ rather than Eire alone.

and quite a few squaddies sadly get killed,or injured, we then have to pay out millions to build an airport and infrastructure, and keeep 1000 troops there to defend a few puffins and a load of burnt out vehicles, oh and it allowed thatcher to win an election, while destroying the miners and steel workers with a good helping hand to the car industry along the way to destroy it as well.

IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CHEAPER TO JUST PUT ALL THE conservative VOTERS ON A BOAT AND LET THEM DEFEND THE DAMM ISLAND, AND LET PEOPLE WHO CARE RUN THE COUNTRY.

    So easy in hindsight,

Listen, there are people who can help you.

Your post brings to mind a Tory decision that genuinely was a mistake, Care in the Community.

    Impossible to enforce.

Once they cross the threshold the school has no control over them and helmets aren’t cool in the eyes of some youth.
