Not sure what they’re like now, but they used to be full of pupils from
Reeds School wearing Pop Will Eat Itself long sleeve tee shirts and smoking weed!

Not that I’m suggesting it’s the best western of all time, but has anyone seen Open Range?

Bloody good film. Kevin Costner in awesome movie shocker!

The AK47, the M16 (all models) and the SA80 all have the inherent flaw of killing people….

Not for nothing are they known as the Commencal of the assault rifle world. 8)

The bridge that was taken by the Glider landings did a light and sound show in the evenings i seem to remember from 20 years back, there are still floating harbors on the main beaches.

    Pegasus Bridge.

Utter heroics from 2nd Battalion, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry, later reinforced by 7 Para.

Sainte-Mere-Eglise is worth a visit, first town liberated and all that thanks to the 82nd Airbone.

The dummy parachutist hanging from the church tower is there in commemoration of Private John Steele who landed there and got tangled up. He lived through it though. Great pub over the road named for him, Auberge John Steele.

Incredible saucisse-frites in the marketplace too.

Yeah, Solo on the approach road to the cathedral square. Good little shop, part of a West Country/South Coast mini chain as I recall.

Stand Out had a fantastic range of punk and hardcore, as a 14 year old it was also the place to go for purple Doc Martens and Pop Will Eat Itself tee shirts!

As a Salisbury local you must remember Stand Out!

I used to love that place, I’d get the train from Andover a couple of times per month to shop there.

One participating shop near me – ‘Red Rose Records’ Boscombe.

I quite fancy the Superchunk split e.p of Misfits covers.
There’s a Deftones covers LP which looks fun too.

Quite possibly, whilst my rimming is quite passable I didn’t score very well on the Gilbert & Sullivan round.

I was once turned away from a hotel in Amsterdam for NOT being gay!

‘How can you tell?’ I asked.

    ‘Your clothes’ the receptionist replied.

    Tough one!

Back in my skateboarding days I swore by Duffs Strombolies, this was back when the only skate shoe options were Airwalk, Vans, Duffs or Etnies…I still maintain that they were the best skate shoes I ever used (though the Etnies SLB mid-tops came a close second).

I wore nothing but Vans Era/Old Skool for years, but have bought a pair of Vans Lo Pro Era (basically, just slimmed down Era) and they’re superb.

I also have a major soft spot for Puma Suedes for which I blame the Beastie Boys circa Ill Communication/Check Your Head.

New Balance have some nice designs too, particularly the 360, but I primarily associate them with running shoes.

I think running may now be my new addiction…

I’m doing 5K every other day and my ‘relaxation’ days start with that 3 minute brisk walk/2 minute walk/1 minute sprint thing (repeat x5 = 30 mins).

JD Sports are doing a half price deal on snazzy New Balance running gear at the moment so I’ve managed to get all colour coordinated too.

    1) Get yourself a decent set of 15 or 20 KG dumbbells. Argos do decent York ones for about £30 or so. Conventional wisdom has it that you’re supposed to train 1 day on/1 day off with them, but I’ve been using them for 30 mins daily and my arms haven’t fallen off yet.

    2) Press-ups – Free and effective! I try and do 100 each morning and the same again in the evening, but start with whatever you feel comfortable with and build up.

Who was the 2nd English actor in it?

‘Morgan Jones’ the black father, holed up in his house with his young son.

The actor who plays him is called Lennie James and has been in a number of US TV series, including post-apocalyptic survivalist drama Jericho in which he played a deep cover CIA black-ops type.

    It’s just terrible!

Also, it’s amazing how many girls seem to have been skydiving..massed ranks of them. And it would seem that for many, their lives won’t be complete until they’ve tried Zorbing.

I like the profile photographs that are obviously the result of one of those vanity modelling shoots you can buy. The end result always seems to be shots of girls sitting inside what appears to be a giant Polo mint with one leg propped against the sidewall!

    Got it in one!

I’ve also come to realise that girls who claim to love ‘all music’ are more likely to mean Rihanna and Kings of Leon than Ben E King and Slayer.

As a supporter of our reptilian overlords I’ll be voting against it.

But, the anti-AV poster campaign has been utterly absurd. If I was a floating voter I’d be voting in favour of AV, simply on the strength (weakness) of the No campaign.

Not sure this is quite what you’ve asked for, but assuming you haven’t already read it, I bet you’d enjoy ‘World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War’ by Max Brooks.

Read it before the much anticipated film version comes out.

    Truro.

The hustle and bustle, nightmare commutes, gun crime, gang violence, racial tension, AIDS epidemic and stifling heat.

    Oh, actually I meant Torquay.

I worked in the Westbeach shop on West and 4th Avenue in Kitsilano, Vancouver.

    Loved it!

Before that I was working for Mount Norquay resort in Banff as a lift monkey, that was great too.

Best enjoyed on a sunny July day at Lulworth Cove.

Open top bus trip, Royal Crescent, Roman baths/spa, excellent shoppng, excellent restaurants, go for nice tea and cakes in the Bath Tea Rooms.

You can also win points by taking her to the Jane Austen Centre and the Fashion Museum, if she’s into that sort of lark.

If there’s a match on then you can go and watch Bath RFC too.

I prefer to think of it as freelance urban surveillance.

Ahh, remember the old days when you could pass this sort of lark off as ‘people watching’, more innocent times.
