Yep, hello Ben! Gower’s riding really well at the moment, the stuff nearer Mumbles is going through a short lived period of not being a swamp.

Two loops I’d say, one east and one west. Or one really really big loop. There’s a real difference in the character of the riding split N-S around Penmaen.

180cm (5 ft 11) and 65kg. I’d also struggle to eat any more cake and pies even if tried 😀

Someone posted on here recommending using a quick release and some sockets. It really does work incredibly well.

Out of interest is your second viva with the original examiners?

Most are a 2:1 maltodextrin:fructose mix. You can buy maltodextrin in large quantities for bugger all on body building sites e.g. myprotein.com

If we were offered AV, PR and FPTP, what voting system would be used? If FPTP was used, and 40% voted for FPTP, 30% for AV and 30% for PR, we’d still have FPTP even though 60% voted for reform.

FPTP is fundamentally flawed as soon as more than two options are available. This sums it up for me very well: http://youtu.be/TtW3QkX8Xa0

There’s a LOT of diversions about at Afan at the moment 🙁

I use electrolyte powder from myprotein.com. Cheap as chips, but postage is quite pricy. I get maltodextrin and fructose from there too, mixed up 2:1 with a bit of electrolyte powder and some squash (not the vegetable) and you’ve got the same thing as the SIS and Torq carbohydrate drinks for peanuts.

I’d be tempted to stay further east than Gower etc. Gower is slow to get off and the riding isn’t that good (although it is stunning). I’d go for somewhere more Abergavenny way, you can ride Cwm Carn if you want, then you’re well placed for the main Black Mountains riding, and evening stuff like the Blorenge. Not too far to head west to the Gap etc.

Brechfa and Afan are fine, but in July you really want to be doing most of your riding around the Black Mountains I’d have thought.

I discovered that derek_starship = blackgem. What this means and how it will influence my day has yet to emerge.

I also discovered the Egyptian president’s mother-in-law is from Pontypridd.

Meet her, but do it somewhere public, and have an escape plan. Perhaps a mate scheduled to turn up after an hour for example. You’ll feel shitty for not hearing her out if she dies.

Heel lifts work for people with Achilles tendinitis IIRC, so they might be worth checking out.

Might be worth getting a foam roller, that way you can work on them more often than you’ll be able to afford sports massage.

A bit odd going on holiday to Swansea as well. Gower – hell yes. Swansea – I’m not so sure.

Gower – http://www.the-gower.com/self-catering/middletonhall/middletonhall.htm. Stayed in the Old Byre, was very nice.

http://www.qualitycottages.co.uk/ref1086.htm this near Dolgellau/Cader Idris/Coed-y-Brenin etc. Really nice cottage.

No eating within 3 hours of the race, no drinking within 1 hour. Some people can get away with closer, others can’t. I suggest not experimenting this time as the results can be messy 😯

Wouldn’t go for anything but a Myo XP (if you’ve got the cash) or an alpkit gamma (if you haven’t). Tikkas are simply not bright enough to run fast at night. Essentially if it’s got a 1 watt plus lensed led you should be ok. Only downside of the gamma is it takes aaa batteries, which are a bit w****. Myo is aa FWIW.

Ordered some stuff 8 days ago – still not even processed even though it’s in stock. Won’t be using them again. I don’t mind them offering a two tier service, but that’s taking the Michael.

Definitely re-overtake, especially if their bike looks faster than yours. http://www.itsnotarace.org/

The zip on mine has been bomber, and that's with cramming them over trainers. The stitching has gone after a year though, but I commute in mine. I'd probably get another pair, I treat them as been vaguely disposable I guess.

"If it pi55es you off that much why don't you dump the car get on your bike ride with these people and make some new friends?"

Not that practical if, for example, you regularly need to travel from south to north Wales. Small roads all the way, I regularly get stuck behind clubs. It's a good four hour drive as it is, I think cycling would take rather longer.

Childish banter aside, it does get on my nerves occasionally. Some clubs do as already mentioned ride two abreast and single out when safe, but in my experience they are in the minority. Gives cyclists a bad rep IMO, and for the record I'm in the all round cyclist category.

Ubuntu at home, fedora and centos at work. Prefer Ubuntu for package support/just working. Very little to choose between them though really.
