Switched from the torq flavoured ones to precision hydration neutral flavoured ones. Was a bit unsure about them being unflavoured but actually much prefer it, especially for longer stuff

That’s great thanks. In terms of level of survey, is a home buyers report/level 2 about right?

Already checked for leasehold/service charge BS fortunately.

This is all great info, thanks everyone! I’m planning to work up there for a week soon and have a look round places in the evenings so this has given me a hit list of places to check out.

Sugar Loaf if you want something smaller. Fan Brycheiniog is pretty cool for something bigger. Lord Hereford’s Knob just because

Edit: going out to worm’s head as above is ace

Just to +1 everything said really. One my favourite places I’ve been road cycling, would love to go back and do some hiking. I went slightly off season (early sept) and everything was really quiet. I camped at Domaine du Lac Chambon in Murol which was pretty decent from memory.

I’ve got a NAO+ which is pretty good. Recently got a fenix hp25 (link) though and it make the NAO+ seem pretty rubbish. Pretty hefty if you’re carrying it but feels light on the head as it’s so well balanced. Kicks out a huge amount of light and it’s properly regulated unlike the NAO+ which dims noticeably.

We’ve got a Lamona (Howden’s own brand?). Boils water really fast which is great but it has heat settings from 1-9 and I never use 1-5, and for most cooking I find 6 too low and 7 too high. If it had a 6.5 it would be great but as it is it’s really annoying. Definitely get one which allows a bit more fine control.

Satellite lock for a modern GPS watch should be very fast regardless as it syncs a catalogue of satellite positions. If it takes a long time with decent sky view it’s likely that’s out of date.

For accuracy especially with limited sky view you’ll want to use one of the latter two. My understanding is the result might depend on the device, I’ve seen dcrainmaker saying he get the best results he’s ever had from a GPS watch using a garmin 935 with GPS+Galileo but with the 945 GPS+GLONASS worked better.

If battery life is an issue you’ll get longer run times with just GPS.

I’ve got these in super rubber, https://simplycarmats.co.uk/peugeot-partner-car-mats-12119.htm

    Really rate them.

When it’s dry (or maybe when it’s wet on a fat bike?) can also go up past Ditsworthy Warren and up the stone row to Higher Har Tor, possibly with a run over Ringmoor Down. Personally I think it’s a more interesting climb. With a bit of cheek can also ride round the leat from crazywell pool, along the stone row to near down tor then drop down to Deancombe.

Favourite bit of trail for me is Bennett’s Cross down to Headland Warren. Can link it in from Postbridge – Soussons Farm – around the east side of Challacombe Down.

Can also do vaguely blue standard loops out of Avon Dam or the Lydford area.

If you want a very mellow out and back into the high moor Ivybridge to Red Lake up the old railway is good, basically a gravel track. Likewise Okehampton up around the old military road, that’s maybe a cx job.

Also got a flavourly order stuck with Hermes and haven’t been able to get in touch with them. Interestingly ordered something from Kirkby Lonsdale a while ago that hasn’t turned up, got in touch with them yesterday and got an almost instant response. Turns out that is also stuck with Hermes.

Kirkby Lonsdale gets a thumbs up for responsiveness. Hermes gets a double thumbs down, though we’ve had a few amazon packages come through with them fine so wonder if they’re being leant on by the big players

Burrator reservoir to Princetown up the old railway line is very mellow but scenic, and good cafe in Princetown. At the ish end of localish though.

I normally park here (in a car): https://goo.gl/maps/UTkR1guj2NQ2

Might be ok if you’re discrete.

Same problem for me. Took me ages to work out why! For me the nose clip sorts it out though so can’t really recommend another solution…

Plymouth here too. Lived in quite a few bits of the uk; the city is much the same as others of the same size but the setting is really nice. Plympton and Plymstock have nice bits as mentioned above, in the city Mannamead and Peverell are pretty decent with apparently good schools. My only criticism is that it’s a mission to go to the Lakes or Scotland.

My default for that budget has been the best condition Focus I could find. Next time though think I’m going to try a Berlingo, they look so much easier for loading with large amounts of sport related junk!

Kryton57: If it’s basing its stress scores on heart rate then it will under estimate the intensity of interval sessions due to heart rate lagging behind effort so much.

Climbers shop and above and beyond both claim to have stock. I really like mine, though like all lightweight waterproof stuff they’re past their best after a couple of years.

You need to talk to the makers of the Proclaimers 500 miles map. http://www.citylab.com/commute/2014/06/the-corrected-geography-of-the-proclaimers-500-miles/372476/

Have one on my mountain bike and it’s great. Had one on my road bike and it made my “junk” go numb for hours after a long ride, switched to a Specialized Romin which fixed it. I guess I move around a lot more on the MTB which helps keep the blood flowing?

Llangors and Bwlch is great but will be very muddy, the Gap is probably the most all-weather of the three. The gap itself will be fine, the descent to the reservoir on the same ride will be muddy.

Ah nice one, would be great if you could have a look at your tracer. Pumping grease in seems to have stopped working for me! I’ve been doing something similar to what you described with no joy so might need to get a bit more inventive…
