Well it might just be a coincidence, but I became part of a throbbing gang of 20+ cyclists riding into work this morning… overtaking stationary cars. More of a boon than a scourge.

Saw Toy Story 4 with my boy last week, I laughed more than him but not as much as the Mum behind me. Did they concentrate too much on the jokes for the adults? Bo Peep though…. Woody is a lucky guy.
Also saw the Secret Life of Pets 2 recently and thought the same – lots of funny bits for the adults. Maybe I just love kids films.
Speaking of which, really looking forward to Lion King in a couple of weeks.

Sorry, side question: I’m going to France next week for 2 weeks but won’t be anywhere near the Tour route but want to watch at least highlights – what’s French TV coverage like? What channel(s) is it on? Do they broadcast live and have highlights in the evening?

I’m thirsty just looking at that picture.
The absence of tomato-based food lubricant has sent the aridity count into another dimension and the peas have flipped to balance the plate.

I’d like GvA to win this one. Not sure if he has the form though.

sorry, but a stem is not iconic.
yes you stare at it a lot and it needs to look good but it’s just a piece of connecting pipe.

for me it’s the Flite Ti saddle even though I never had one because I couldn’t afford one and knew I wouldn’t get on with the shape. I have the modern version now which still looks great, though not nearly as great as the original, but is more comfortable.

unfortunately with increased tolerance comes increased intolerance.
people need a subgroup of other people to be intolerant of and rail against.
cyclists need something writing into the equality act.

25 mins should be fairly straightforward given your stats but little experience.
24 mins if things go right.

That’s a good point, our cat is a 7 year old rescue and was pretty shy / scratchy to start with but is now pretty soft and only runs away from the scrappiest of kids / toddlers. He even puts his claws away now when batting the kids for being too “affectionate.”

I’ve had a cat for 9 months so I am now obviously an expert (!)
    – Your cat will pick the wet food it likes, give it that brand / flavour but not too much. It will ask for food because it wants food, not because its hungry. Give it more dry food than it wants as it won’t like it as much as wet, but it needs it more. If it doesn’t eat its dry food, don’t give it any wet food.
    – Find the cheapest insurance with the least coverage. It will satisfy your other half that you care about the cat, but when moggy gets splattered or a face tumour, sorry darling, it will have to go to cat hell (no cats get to heaven, am I right?).

    Ha!
A big manufacturer really needs to take it on the chin in the van market, lower their margins (even if they’re negative) and be the first to get the ball rolling on vans with a decent range.
Pollution from cars is not the issue in cities, it’s delivery / trade vans – they’re everywhere, all the time.

I just wish I could find a way to stop the furry vermin from invading my garden

Get some foxes. My cat won’t go in our garden at the moment as there is a fox den down at the bottom. I’m quite glad as it’s nesting season and he was stalking the birds before the foxes turned up.

    Neymar.

I used to love playing football. I still like it.
I used to love watching football. I hate watching it now.

Neymar’s cheating and diving antics typify the aspect of the game that has ruined my love of it – the need to “win” a free-kick or a penalty and the player behaviour that breeds.

    VW Marketing:

The charm of the e-Golf is it has all of the talents of the familiar Golf hatch, with the simple addition of an electric powertrain

funny as that’s what I don’t like about the e-Golf… it’s just another Golf

    134 bhp and 393 lb-ft of torque

not sure about that torque figure

I’m picking up an i3 on Friday! Very excited.
2nd hand seem very popular at the moment, especially for the pre-2017 luxury car tax models and prices are pretty static. I’m a bit worried about depreciation with the new EVs coming on the market over the next couple of years. So I’ll either keep it for a couple of years, or drive it into the ground, which is a bit of an unknown with EVs. Hopefully there will be battery replacement options in the future so I can upgrade the range.

I’ve driven a few of them through Zipcar including brand new ones and agree with the OP to a large extent. With Zipcar you pay more per hour for a Mercedes A-class than a Golf and a Hyundai i30 which seems the wrong way round.
    My list of crap things:
    – The seating position is awful to get right.
    – The dash layout is fine but not very intuitive.
    – I HATE THE HANDBRAKE.
    – It took me about 4 Youtube videos to find the bonnet lever inside.
    – One I drove had a dodgy tyre pressure sensor which kept telling me my tyre was flat and sounding an audible warning.
    – Reverse gear is awkward to get to.
    – Not much space inside for it’s size.
    – Boot is small and awkwardly shaped.
    – Very hard to get out of FM radio; no DAB.
    – Kids didn’t like the smell.

Other than that it drives pretty well.
    Would. Not. Buy.

Am I being a git or is this ” for evil to triumph it only requires good people to do nothing”

The things that you grumble about are a bit gittish, especially when it falls on deaf ears.
By doing good things, you are countering the effects of evil like homelessness, disability and the truly hateful puncture.
    Namaste.

If it’s a ‘status’ allowance then what’s the point? It’s not like it’s taxed differently to salary, just call it salary.

because then it would be pensionable, bonusable, guaranteed i.e. a greater fixed cost

I have a small garden with plants and trees and borders. It’s full of nesting birds and worms and woodlice and bees and flies and slugs and snails and a shed full of spiders.
But I’ve had a plastic lawn for a number of years because I couldn’t grow a proper one (north facing, poor soil and other excuses). It’s currently occupied at night by a team of four fox cubs who like it so much that they run around it in circles and they don’t choose to shit on it. During the day my kids play on it, something they couldn’t / wouldn’t do with a big square of moss like it would otherwise be. My cat also likes it and he’s the boss of the house.
I expect the horrible piece of plastic to last for at least 10 years but hopefully longer.

I forgot the question, but this is my answer.

Top tip – don’t machine wash your gloves too much.

I work near Green Park and saw Marine One landing this morning. That was interesting – it looks like an 80s lego helicopter.
Gridlock outside with a million black cabs and white vans just sat idling in traffic. Sometimes London is shit.

    is he just too nice?
“jab jab hook”, a small head and a long reach is all he’s got isn’t it? no ferocity, not much ring-craft.

massively cynical about the result and AJ’s reaction but wonder if I’ve watched too many films about boxing being manipulated by money, power and betting.
