I’m lucky in that I’ve never had any problems sleeping, but maybe that makes me a good control. I’ve recently been doing a lot of late evening (9/10pm), hour long interval sessions and it has impacted my ability to get to sleep, and then restlessness during the night. So sometimes I don’t go to bed until 1/2am and have to make it up with a nap the next day. Rehydration tabs help, as well as a shower.

apart from their general demeanour, what makes them horrible was their attitude that if he builds something and they hurt themselves then he is culpable, but if they build something and he hurts himself then he is still culpable – that’s just nasty.

Replacement driveshafts for my FTX Mini 2.0s still haven’t turned up after 4 weeks….
I spent an hour making a replacement cross journal from two bent brass pins, dental floss wrapped round and superglue.
Hope the replacement parts turn up soon as I’m not making another one!

My parents denied me a Tamiya RC car when I was younger, so now I am 42

snap! I bought a couple of mini crawlers to play with whilst on lockdown with the kids, but already got my eyes on something bigger for when we’re released…
not too bothered about building kits at the moment but do enjoy fixing them – the driveshafts on these are cheese so I’ve ordered some new metal ones and fixed these ones to get them back on the road.

    Broken UJ

Drilled through UJ cross journal and inserted a section of nail

had to do that 6 times!

I forgot to update everyone on this….

mrs bakes had a go at fixing it…

I built a “jig” – clamps were too short… so I improvised. Wasn’t great but it worked.

silkaflexed it to some thick ply

    resined the crack

It’s definitely strong. The finish isn’t great, so I might put some more resin in and maybe try and touch up the crack another way. You can’t see the ply unless you look underneath. I might grind out the crack and make it a “feature”, but I probably won’t. The cat will probably break it again before then.
I also drilled out the legs and replaced the threaded inserts with bolts right through.

    Pretty pleased with the results.

Technical question: I have a PC laptop with Android OS on it (X86) but Zwift won’t work (Google Play says it isn’t compatible). Does anyone know of a workaround?

There is however symbolism in wearing a mask and an unspoken message that might influence other behaviours. It shows the herd that there is danger, and that others are taking it seriously and choosing to protect themselves. Hopefully that message will get through to other people and they will change their behaviours – stay at home, wash your hands, etc.

can someone give me some battery charging advice?
I’ve just made a lockdown purchase of a couple of FTX Outback Mini 2.0 cars for some small garden fun, and ordered some spare batteries. They are 600mAh 1s LiPos. The kit comes with a USB charger but I wondered if there is a way of mains charging them, and if it’s worth it over USB. I’ve tried Googling it but it’s a minefield and most balance chargers seem to be for 2S and higher.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

Me: You can’t put that in the recycling bin – our council have made it clear they can’t process it.
Her: Well it’s about time they did.

    So in it went………

    I do this!

I panicked a bit this morning as I had a tickly cough that persisted for about 10 minutes. I then coughed up a bit of crust from some toast I had at breakfast and the cough disappeared….

I had a few – a stegosaurus, a spider and I think maybe a t-rex (but that could have been some other kit toy). All small and with a little gold fella sat in their heads.
Were they wind-up? I seem to remember them walking and falling to bits a lot. Little rubber grommets that would always get lost.

I posted on this 4 years ago: https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/dehumidifier/#post-7643021
Still have the same machine, used daily now for clothes drying. Still going strong 8 years on.

other unrelated things that happened today…
we had a new 3-seater sofa delivered that I had to carry through the house into the living room where it now sits proudly atop a lovely heavy weave rug

    I quickly realised the following:
    – I wasn’t going to ever be able to fix it so it was like new
    – I wasn’t going to ever be able to fix it in any shape of form in 2 hours
    – The cat (Carlos) is the King of the house and so it would still be my fault if he had been to blame, and worse as I had endangered the King*
    – The table leg had been broken before…. AHAH….

….. yes, the boy had jumped on the table about 6 months ago when it was new and ripped one of the insert nuts out of the legs. So there was a weak point and I just gently moved the table, the leg collapsed, tipped over and the top snapped (your honour) /case closed.
The boy, bless him, added to his guilt by smashing a glass on the kitchen floor shortly before mrs brakes came through the door.

I’ve still got to fix the crappy thing temporarily until we can get a replacement so thanks for the suggestions above. I’ll see what I can cobble together.

*case in point being that he regularly vomits on the expensive rug (not carpet – see picture earlier) and I get blamed for not removing him from rug quickly enough.

    cars
    – they kill and maim far too many people
    – they dictate the shape of, and dominate our landscapes
    – they make people lazy and fat
    – they and their industry are barriers to progression
    – they are too expensive to provide infrastructure for
    – people don’t realise quite how much their cars have power over them

but fun to watch though right?

I watched it, thought it was really good for an action movie. Basically just a lot of set pieces stitched together. It won’t win any awards for editing though and the ending overdosed on the cheese. Also a bit too Transformers in parts, I guess that’s the Michael Bay effect.
What I liked was the Deadpool approach with similar humour and gore.

Who’s taken Friday off so that they can stay up and watch the results come in? Fess up… who’s as sad and tragic as me?

This could prove to be deeply ironic. I am off on Friday as it is the 10th day of my 9 day fortnight. Whether I stay up may depend on the results from the exit polls at 10pm on Thursday and how many beers I sink to drown my sorrows.

After the injuries he sustained in 2015, I expect everyone (including him) is nervous that any soft crash will snap something that will disable him. They’re not too bothered about him cracking his head on the bars as his brain is already mostly porridge.
Mind you, he was worried about snapping his Rourke hardtail going off a little ramp.

I have a similar debate going on in my head. I want one, but I don’t need one.
I don’t have one because of the 1984/Big Brother risks/paranoia.

I buy online from Frazers in Sheffield. Usually buy the Full Monty espresso blend for daily coffee as it’s a good all-rounder for espresso, long black and milky drinks.
Plus the guy is nice and deals direct with growers.

away from the boshing, attritional way of doing things.

But that’s how you manage teams like NZ and Japan. Teams need to be tactically dynamic to manage the style and tactics of their opposition.

You’d hope for either speed or torque. It doesn’t really have either. It’s a heavy truck. I do wonder if smaller tyres would help too.
