Always strikes me as funny that the fire service won’t attend a non injured elderly patient who has pressed their careline button for assistance… an almost daily occurrence

Yet they train and train for the rarer possibilities of large animal rescues

Perhaps there is greater media exposure ?

    Kona’s

Lava dome – from new 1996
    Cindercone from new 1996
Kona Kilaeau used but bought in 1998

Never used anything on them and all are in pretty much constant use.

    My input

    NO

SA yep already put down a coat of that Sovereign preserver.

The battens are just painted with an outdoor paint stain.

Total cost of the project, incl hideaway hut/ fence/ decking…

    Wood screws – £10
    Preserver – 2 x 5 litre tins on offer at £40
Couple of bags of post mix – £10

    Total £60

All the wood was barn finds ( Goodwood nonetheless) or building site left overs.
    Stain was free tester pots

Mainly aimed at slackalice but anyone can chip in

    An update ..

Well as luck would have it I stumbled across an old barn that was being ripped apart. The flooring boards (pine) were going to be burnt so a quick trip with the van and they came home.

The frame is sorted and all the boards are cut to size.

What gap should I leave between the boards considering they have been dry for most of their life, oh and any recommends for a good clear preservative?

Yep did it on my Kaffenback.

Really enjoyed it – despite 2 punctures and no brakes whatsoever on Hardknott/ Wrynose.

A slow and solid time..just enjoying the day.

Was amazed at the number of people suffering early stages of hypothermia…who then got back on their bikes and rode another 28 miles !!

My first sportive and only a few months on the bike – I might treat myself to an upgrade.

Any recommends for a decent jacket ?

Well I’m certainly no bigoted bell end .. I am more than tolerant.

Travellers have arrived – I saw them break in today. Not had any crime in this area for years.. Perhaps coincidence?

Perhaps you could take the phone call from my wife at 2am this morning again ..saying she thinks someone is in the garden.

I’m nights again and would welcome your support.

;@) it’s not the stealing of our baby that concerns us .

It’s just the added stress – at a time when quite frankly our attentions should be on our newborn.

Annoying thing is that we have been highlighting this very concern to the local parish council.. Who in typical upper class fashion have dismissed our concerns with slight of hand.

Now for the price of a clean up , insurance claims, court and policing costs we are all footing the bill for their incompetence.

Our first baby arrives in less than 4 weeks !

    I was given mine !

I cycled from Chichester to Dorset to watch the Olympic sailing last year.. Asked a cafe owner if I could put up my tent in the garden of the cafe.

Turned out to be a top bloke..ex cyclist… We got slozzled on good wine.

He gave me the tandem as he wanted it to go to an enthusiast .

    Yeah great weekend…!

Well done Charlie for bringing together like minded souls for a sunny cider fuelled weekend with great riding !

Mrs Brack only has a few weeks until we have a brackababy so a slightly subdued event for me… But loved it all the same!

It was that hot I almost took my checked shirt off !!

    Thanks SA

That sounds perfect ! And just up the road.

In your learned experience what is the best method of constructing this ?

It’s going on to compact soil .. A frame supported on pads?

Hi Col yeah and there is probably the reason why you kiwis can use floorboards externally…

I’m in West Sussex so Hampshire could be totally doable.

I know this is pretty out there but Ive seen old floorboards used as decking out in NZ…

An option or would they just warp?

Following this thread with interest… As I’m about to become a dad for the first time in July :@)

We are seasoned campers and want to continue with this trend … Currently getting rid of our two person tent and we were looking to buy a bigger replacement.

Initially the hilleberg nallo gt 3

Is this going to be cramped and would we be better with something roomier ie you can stand up in ?

    Just back..

Went with Mrs Brack..and our thoughts in the car on the way back echo the above thoughts of others..I honestly expected to find a bike that I may think of buying..well I really didn’t see any road bikes that entirely floated my boat.

The faggins stand was lovely, as was the Shand and Demon but nothing that saw me reach for my credit card.

    Fantatsic though !

We did it in January this year.. Great ride but hardly a must do.

I wouldn’t give that list much credence ..

Guildford? In the top 30. The place itself is nice enough but my goodness I worked as a Paramedic there for a year…. Had my response car moved 3 times by irate motorists and had more abuse from stressed out locals than in my entire 20 years working all over the South coast.

Quietly understated Chichester, or Midhurst. Now they really do have the lot !

Growing up in the NW Fred Dibnah + 1 ( loved looking at his steam engines parked outside the local pub…while he had a pint inside.

My primary school’s cleaner Mrs Norton who cycled from lands end to John o groats unaided back in the days when it was extraordinary people that did these things and not like today where people have to enter an event in order to be given their adventures.
