Yep definitely on the increase. And to be honest with you I am surprised at how few make it to the press – perhaps that shows how regular an occurance it is for the ambos ?

Personally speaking I have had quite a few close calls this year including a man threatening to drive his van through the front of the house ( I was treating his partner in the front room), a man armed with a sledgehammer wanting to get at his partner, and even today a VERY stressed angry relative who if given half the chance would have ripped my head off…until I managed to calm him down.

A very angry and getting angrier island we live on !

Hmmm the scrote idea is concerning as my partner has had a disagreement with our next door neighbours teenage friends who park at the rear of our property and drop litter. It was my first thought when she sent me the pics to be honest.

Though she seems certain it wasn’t there this morning prior to her long drive to see family. She seems to think it more likely it happened in the supermarket carpark.

Probably to stop me from practicing with my gaelic curling stick out the back of the house…a joke

Were gutted but not wound up?

Friends have lost children and weve lost both our mothers in the last few years!? Its only a car..just intrigued.

    Re the battered car tips…

I drive an old van for this very reason. My partner wanted a nice safe car in which to transport our new born… 🙄

Had it on in background whilst doing something else…

    Was very nearly sick.

Could not watch anymore than the time it took to realise what was on the tv and me turning the tv off.

I’ve seen a lot of that sort of stuff in person,it traumatises me 1000 fold to watch it voluntarily.

A night of nightmares for me tonight now.

    Paramedic here .

Attended a similar incident 14 years ago

Air rifle hit a 4 year old in his chest.

Small indent no bleeding near to left nipple.

Could not find flattened pellet so presumed worst.

Scan revealed pellet had entered left ventricle of the heart.

    He survived..

For 90% of the stuff we get called out to..

A few years delay wouldn’t make much difference let alone 10secs !

Been cycle commuting for 18 yrs .. By far the best option for me is the Alpkit gourdon 20.

Throw your kit in it.. Bombproof, waterproof and at a price easily replaceable.

Oh and a quick wipe and it’s work clean – and it becomes a commuting beacon when you throw in a red flashing light.

General perceptions…. And that’s the fire services general failure, they don’t market what they do very well

    You gotta be kidding

Oh and all those traumatic jobs you attend…you ain’t there on your own fella !

A lone working paramedic on duty here …

It’s funny how the burning building debate gets brought up each time …I respect fire fighters but feel they ought to go and spend some time with either the police or ambulance service to see what the unquantifiable effects of stress and pressure really are.

    So far,

An abusive drunk male w a head injury, a female ( on her own ) with mental health issues, and Im currently being told to stand off for police as a young girl is slashing herself with a knife. And that’s all since 8 pm and the shift has only just started. 12 hours… Lots of blue light driving.. And hardly any contact with colleagues…it’s a lonely old job.

The government expects me to be doing this till I’m 68… Not a chance.

They’ve had it good for far too long!

Lost my sympathy I’m afraid… They should seriously take a look at what they have compared to others and then shut the hell up moaning.

I pulled on to a fire station car park the other day … Jeez it was packed with builders, window cleaner, first aid training vans!!

    Second jobs!!

And before anyone asks how I know they all belonged to firefighters…!?

    They had all been polished!!

    I just don’t get the photo ?

Why are they there ? In suits ? Where have they been checking and why?

Any further away from the tension of the platform where the photographer stands and the two wires would be too unstable.

A staged photo which in today’s apparent H&S cosseting.. Iam sure still goes on today!?

As a father of a newly born baby boy…

I’d take my life at the momment over the drifting any day though.

    I started to go feral…:@))

In fact what am I talking about I was feral… Living out of the back of a van for a year on my return :@))

We are born into this life seeking physical contact

It is my opinion ( and wherever possible ) we should die that way also.

Ok a broad metaphor but one that keeps things simple … In my head at least.

In my experience the GP4000 seemed to attract sharp objects, had more punctures than I would have had my tyres been made of paper… Maybe it’s the roads round here but I binned them after 200miles of use

Very much my experience though I have given them a slightly longer trial period.

Seem to be picking up flint after flint on the roads..

My road riding has not been hugely pleasurable of late what with the problematic rim tape saga as well.

Might try the GP 4 season or the Michelin equiv.

I run schwalbes on a couple of my bikes and yeah they are awesome but not quite what I’m looking for on this particular bike.
