‘scaredy’I reckon Hoy must have quads of those dimensions as they are true pistons…..ie tapered.

    Slight pause

Talk amongst yourselves whilst drawers are emptied in search of that pesky cloth tape measure, non shatterproof rulers are pushed to their max, builders are seen wandering round looking for the tape measure that ‘was there a minute ago’

If the raving about old school rides baffle you so much…..then why has the trend for steel bikes come back round again?

I have ridden my 96 killy almost every day from new…its ridden over the himalayas, lejog, ireland end to end, been welded on a tibetan plateau, sees me into work every day…..and do you know what she still kicks arse on the trails.

Guess you are right though….old school baffles me too….or is it just about finding something that works for you and sticking with it?

Nice… though I have to confess to always having a soft spot for the white killy.

I think the 95/ 96 Konas were the best !

I adore riding my 96 killy….its sch a sweet ride. Its been welded twice and still going strong ( I hope ).

At 5ft 9 I hovver between the 17 and 18” frames. The explosif is a 19 and so will give a totally different ride….hence the shortened stem.

Noooo none of its obvious! I need all the help I can get….well it all sounds positive so far!

Shes a gorgeous bike and the ‘ping’ factor on the frame is sexxxxy…lol.

Ive ridden a 96 kilauea from new.. and love the old stuff!

Zedsdead you star! I thought of doing exactly the same thing when he first posted..then got distracted.

I lived in the back of a van for a year so now all about hardships in life.

I too will donate a pound.

But I don’t normally give handouts so…..when you are more solvent promise me that the cash you generate here is donated back to a worthy cause of the majorities preference.

    So a £1 and RNLI

Thats bad news buddy….Im not in a position to loan you that cash. But don’t go selling what’s dear to you just yet….

The bike might be the only thing that will keep you sane over the next few months.

    Good luck.

    Chichester…..

I windsurf/ kitesurf…and most wind directions can be covered around here.

The South Downs are right on my door step….and Im still not bored of them!

Ive lost count of how many days I can be out on the Downs in the morning and then sailing in the afternoon.

All topped off with a great summer season of festivities and live music/ real ale. Good access to London should I ever feel the desire….for culture.

Oh and something happens at Goodwood every so often…. :^)

Do you know what I would do….?

Get a second opinion via another doc…to ease any worries you may/maynot have.If all is fine….

    …forget about it.

tsk home bp kits….the bain of my life!

Yeah the bend in the elbow is where they will listen for the blood pressure…but if having found an odd heart beat or any abnormalities then I would have thought that any doc worth their salt ( if they were concerned about any arrythmia) would have either done an ecg or had a listen in specific places on the chest.

Did doc place aforementioned steth to your chest?

If its a No – I doubt that they will have heard bugger all conclusive just via a brachial pulse.

Now I know this is going to sound a tad paranoid…but is anyone else suspecting that this gruesome scene has undertones of a conspiracy theory?

Far too many variables too pin the cause down to any one person…and far too many shady suspects within the vicinity.

Could the chap in the background ( walking down the hill) be a ‘wiggle secret agent’? It certainly looks like a small surface to air missile that he is conveniently carrying….with an arrogant check over his shoulder to make sure his mission is complete.

The skate boarder is a decoy, a second sniper is located top right in the picture.

    Question is….

Would they have had time to reload??

Well i thought it was a myth.

Took the bikes to Ireland with Ryanair….tyres fine inflated en route.

Coming back they made us deflate the tyres which was a **** pain as they were well and truly packed!!

Exactly…. molgrips has a good point! Speaking as someone who’s work colleagues seem to be emigrating ( and returning) at a sheep like rate of knots??? (not too sure about that quote?).

I find it amazing that so many ‘couch dwellers’ think that just by relocating to the other side of the world that they will suddenly fall into a new way of life and become adrenaline sports junkies and bbq socialites overnight.

Most of those that have left have chosen to live in crappy areas of the UK and live their lives in a very mundane way…..if I lived in Slough I would be chomping at the bit to emigrate….but wouldn’t have got myself there in the first place and would consider moving elsewhere in the UK first.

I wonder how many people have comitted themselves to the big overseas move and have been to embarrased to back down for the worry of losing face?

NZ Col how long have you had that DB?

LOL good to know Im not the only unsettled soul…

I have pretty much always been on the move since I can remember, I’ve recently returned from a 2 year overseas trip that took me to some of the worlds most beautiful and often dangerous places.

    My family live in NZ.

I live here in the UK, granted I live in a beautiful part of this ere island and within great mtb routes and windsurfing spots….but I still occasionally wonder what life would be like ‘over the fence’.

As my ex girlfriend once said to me ‘Richard, I don’t think you will ever be truly happy’ … and I guess she is right. Im just one of those people who is always searching, looking over the fence to see what else is out there.

It’s not a bad thing as long as you realise that ‘is what you are’.

Im renovating a place at the momment and its really exciting, I have a sense of place, and I am surrounded by things and people that are important to me.

However I do miss my family and would love to see my nieces growing up…..but hey ho.

You really cannot have everything in life!

    Q. Is the hosp in the centre of town?

If so then that’s half the problem……people parking there simply to be nearer to the centre of town. I totally agree though it is way out of line charging extortionate rates to genuinely ill patients/ relatives.

Tell you what also really p’s me off.

Pay and display machines that don’t give change.

    1hr 70p
    2hrs £1.65 and a friggin half

Id agree with the above but would add a flat bar rather than drops and go for a slightly forgiving tyre rather than an ultra slimline race shoe. A comfy sadddle but not too big as it will simply chaff and become counter productive.

There are some steep hills which if wet could catch a novice out.

Good on her….try a LBS as well by the way.

I drive one at work…emergency care practitioner.

Lovely to drive, quick and hasn’t let us down yet depite getting thrashed 24 hrs a day.

Ours is obviously converted though still has the rear seats and seems to have a fair bit of space.

If the seats in the back fold away allowing the rear to be fully utilised then I would say its a great car/van compromise.

And thats from a VW transporter owner.

A great thread this one ! Thought it was just me!!

Im known at work as the wuss who is scared of the dark…

Ive just recently moved to a house that is in 20 mins out of the nearest town…quite a rural location but with a perfect xc farm track commute….unfortunately my route takes me past a rather isolated farm building that I was called to by the police 10 yrs ago ( Im a paramedic)…inside was the badly decaying body of a recluse.

Imagine my delight at cycling past this still derelict property at night with the haunting images still vivd in my brain!
