I drive on blue lights am not police but am a repsonse driver and probably do more miles in one shift on blues than your average PC.
The days ( if they ever existed ) of that behaviour are long gone.

Every car is black boxed and its not worth the risk !

What regulary happens however is that enroute to an emergency we get ‘stood down’ from emergency calls ( nearer vehicle,no longer required, hoax, etc etc ), or we may be diverted to another higher priority call. Ive had a fair bit of abuse from drivers who think Im off home for a brew, off to get chips, or even lost.

I haven’t had an accident in over 20 years of response driving.

Some may say thats luck – I prefer to say it’s experience.

What I have noticed is that the ‘Great British Public’ in the main do not have a bloody clue and are quite happy for US to look after them because quite frankly they need looking after. However these days everybody knows best and I am finding myself fearful of doing my job as there are way too many people out there with nothing better to do than put in a complaint.

How on earth do you know what he/she may/ could be doing ? And more importantly why should you know ?

He could be tailing a suspect…have been told to be somewhere asap but has chosen not to blues and toos it on a common sense basis.

Too many people with too much time on their hands, worrying about what everyone else is doing !

Leave them alone – they do a bloody good job ( most of the time when you aren’t looking ).

Its not the skills that you have been taught that are important its how you react and put those skills into practice that matters.

I regulary attend incidents where the most qualified ‘first aider’ on scene is possibly achieving the least and just complicating issues with their demeanour and misplaced eagerness.

I urge people to become more confident in looking after themselves and others.

Knowing what I know about the ambulance cutbacks I genuinely worry for you all.

Just had a long walk with my partner…she lost her mum 5 years ago and I lost mine in April.

Long walks do bugger all to help….we seem to be doing lots of long walks at the momment…

But its a distraction until time softens.

Crazy-legs…yep thats the one. I lost my dear mother this year ( suddenly to aggressive Ca) and she died in a hospice in Shrewsbury.
I would lie to include a visit to the hospice if possible.

So yep that part of the country is a must.

I remember cycling through that part of the world during my JOGLE in 2007…will try and avoid the busier roads this time.

I have always wanted to cycle from N to S wales along some of the less travelled roads…and this is niggling away in my brain. Its a bit of a detour away from Mcr though (?train to Rhyl) then would mean a train the end from Cardiff … which might be a bit too tight on time?

I’ve just bought a uk sourced retro industrial lampshade ( metal ) which has been rewired with new cable the 3 strand variety.

Replacing the original lamp at the ceiling rose I noticed that it had only got two wires…?

My father who was with me at the time ( yep blaming him ) said just don’t use the 3rd wire… Is this correct?

Light works fine just worried now after Reading above comments ???
