NZCol..hello mate

Yeah had this tramp lined up for many years…Ive done a few recces in the area, and scared myself stupid on my last visit (spent a long and lonely night in Crosbies hut..having just read a newspaper article about what happened there 😕 )

My plan …and Im no fool ( I will not be setting out alone/ without good prep etc, it may not even happen this year) has been to tramp from Tairua …poss broken hills, or as you say from the Pinnacles hut area across to Tarura. I have spoken with many people who seem to think a route exists, but are not entirely sure.

Thames Tramping club are hopefully going to get back to me with some assistance.

Like I say it might not happen this year but one day I will find a route.

25 miles but compact and bushy…and close to but remote from.

Oh ok – Im a bit less travelled these days – but did travel 5 years ago for a couple of years with a telescopic baton and back country knife but presumed things may have become tighter ?

Tramping with one in a remote area will not be an issue

Superb…I train a lot, as well as commuting. Shift work means that I prob don’t have access to regular meals so was thinking of adding a protein drink into my daily intake.

Confused as to when I should take it – add it to a 1 litre bottle of water and sip throughout the day ?…or should I be using it before and after each session.

AS you can see – totally new to this 😆

I see that wooden handled secateurs are not being recommended so will go with the advice… But … For a present to a garden enthusiast – not professional, with a £25 budget (sorry I should have said) what do you suggest.

Commute every day on my old Specialized Langster – fitted some marathon pros a couple of months ago …and love it !!

My ride is only 7 miles but its non road, a mixture of gravel track (sustrans)…v muddy farm tracks, and rutted canal tow paths.

I extended my ride home last night as I just love riding this bike !

Hmmm the swingometer of opinion now comes back to the neoair 😕

Loving the look of the Downmat ul 7…just not sure I need the added therm qualities it provides.

So may be tempted by the synmat.

The neoair from memory doesnt have the buffered sides and I do tend to jiggle about when asleep.

Alpkit…like some of their stuff, but have hated others…so am reluctant to buy a brand with a 50/50 ‘personal’ track record…and a brand that is difficult to try before you buy.

Struggle to match Stoners sad but miraculous story…but

-Waking up in a sewage ditch after a night of Tequila…in down town Kabul..wake up…mobile phone and passport gone from pockets…blind drunk – hail a taxi.

-Dropping a rear wheel of my car over the edge of a muddy edged cliff in NZ ( drivers side)..during a wild and wet storm on an isolated track, 6 hrs walk from the nearest hunters hut. Meanwhile trees were being uprooted all around with mudslides.

-15 miles from nearest village on a beach in Morocco ( decided to walk/camp the 30 miles), realising being followed, stop and chat to bedraggled stranger who followed me for a couple of miles. Grade A schizophrenic American guy, living rough as he fears that he is being followed by the FBI. After 15 miles of running with pack finally lose him 😥
