Desk job = back pain, especially when using a computer. Everyone knows that you should maintain proper posture, but the reality is that most of us do not do it consistently.

My back pain is alleviated by cycling and exercise in general. I have found that when it’s particularly bad, a sports massage helps unlock tight spots, but regular daily stretching of the affected areas is the key for me (along with riding of course!)

    Alternatively, take a holiday. 😉

I think it would be a great shame if the LW trails are turned into (or easy-ficated) a glorified pump track like Ashton Court has been. I guess we’ll just have to forge some new, more interesting trails instead.

I realise this goes against most of the posts on this thread. I’ve watched the these local trails evolve over the last 20 years and in my opinion their character will be forever lost to the current vogue for flowy-pumpy-smoothy bmx tracks.

Still, give it 2 or 3 winters and I’m sure the lovely mud and roots will be making a reappearance.

Er, not sure what your LBS is on about with the comments about spoke tension. I’ve just built a Flow rim onto a 2nd hand CK ISO hub without any such issues.

Another cracked frame by seat tube slot. Spotted today. Frame 18 months old. Already spoken to LBS and will be dropping off frame at the weekend. Hope the replacement is the beefed up version. This frame has been used mostly for commuting and has been off-road less than 20 times.

My head size is also 59cm and I wear a Large Giro. Allows room for more hair and/or a skull cap underneath.

The quarry path is no longer a trail. It’s a miniature bike park for the terminally unimaginative.

AC has always been an all year round trail. It just seems that people don’t like to ride in mud. Pah.

    Si,

It’s difficult to single the frame out as I’ve only ever ridden it with the set-up as it is now. The fork was also new. What I can say is that the bike as a whole likes to go fast.

It has a stiff back-end compared to a previous Ti frame, but then that was a super-springy Cotic Soda. I may consider a more forgiving seatpost but then again, I’m stood up over the rougher stuff anyway. When I first received the frame, the initial impression was that this was a more robust than your ‘standard’ Ti hardtail. All in all, a nicely made frame that was easy to build up; I had no issues with cable-routing or brake caliper alignment.

My regular rides consist of around 3 hours of squirmy, rooty singletrack with some steeper switchbacks and rocky chutes. I’ve now ridden the same trails on a steel bike with 100m forks, alu/Ti bikes with 120mm forks and now a Ti bike with a 140mm fork. The Holeshot is the slackest bike I’ve ridden and I’m happy to take it downhill and know that it will go where it’s pointed. Given the stiffer rear triangle, I don’t feel beaten up after my usual rides. I’m yet to do an all day ride on it though.

Sorry I can’t be more specific at this stage.

@ boxfish… you’ve raped that frame. and not good rape, but bad rape – in a darkened alley. wow.

    OK…

I don’t really appreciate the sexual violence metaphor but horses for courses, eh?

It rides well. It pleases me. Job done. If it makes you feel sick, look away! 😆

1 x Alu hardtail & 1 x Ti hardtail broken. Neither were ragged or jumped.

Why doesn’t Tox tag his own corneas using a laser? It would save him a fortune on aerosols and would mean he (and he alone) would see his ‘work’ everywhere, permanently.

Does your company utilise MS SQL Server, MS Access or both?

Personally, I’d start with learning to write SQL queries. This can be applied to both applications, and indeed is relevant to other database vendor’s products.

SQL Server is a suite of database applications and there are umpteen ways to go if you start down this road. Basic database administration courses can be useful but usually have a pre-requisite of at least some SQL.

I stopped buying Endura baggies a few years ago. They just don’t seem to be as robustly made as they used to be.

Have a search for Safe-T-Seat. Little-un loves it. Very quick to install/uninstall. I’ve had no trouble whatsoever when riding with it. Used on daiy commute without incident for 9 months or so.

Good question. I’ve been clearing all the usual obstacles and have also had no pedal strikes. It must be a similar height, I suppose.
