I was there a couple of weeks ago. The trails were like streams. Did the W2 and had a blast. So what if some sections are closed? Make the most of it!

This was my local when I lived there. Down by the canal. Looks like they’ve gone a bit more upmarket…

Good luck with your ride.

Please no! Using Excel as a database in this sort of context is just a recipe for disaster.

😀

It is however much more of a working/shopping/drinking town that a tourist spot or a cultural highlight.

Which was my point, sort of.

Maybe one way to go is for you to do a training course or two so that you can exploit what’s available in Excel?

Oh, and back up your spreadsheets. 😉

Whatever you implement as your database, BACK IT UP, REGULARLY.

Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard Edition for Small Business will provide the functionality you need. It retails for around £500. If your total budget is <£10k, you’ll need to learn to use it yourself (unless you know a particularly generous/cheap developer).

EDIT: Although that may not fit the remit of simple and cheap.

Been riding hardtails since 1992. Had a single-pivot full sus (Marin Riftzone) for a couple of years (about 10 years ago). Didn’t really get on with the boing. Found it all a bit wallowy. Plus, there’s all those pivots and bushings to faff. CBA really!

I was over there doing the W2 last Friday and whilst it didn’t actually rain, there was so much surface water that many of the steeper trails were streams. There were also a few trees down across the link road up top.

I was bitten on the ankle by a False Widow spider a few weeks ago. My garage is full of them. If only I could train them to attack burglars.

EDIT: Ankle swelled up a bit for 3 or 4 days. No other effects….apart from the 6 extra eyes growing out of my head.

Knocked half a slice of fruitcake off the terrace wall outside Glyncorrwg cafe on Friday. Not happy.

Isn’t pedalling over bumpy, rooty trails the whole point of it all?

Nah. The point is to enjoy yourself.

I run a 1×10 with a basic Blackspire stinger device. I’ve only had the chain drop once and that was when pedaling over a very bumpy, rooty section of trail.

3 sunny hours trundling around Leigh Woods/50 Acre Wood/Ashton Court this morning. Most of the muddy puddles from Sunday had disappeared. 😀

Enve AM/DT 240s/Sapim wheels for the trail bike
Enve 45/CK R45/Sapim wheels for the road bike

It won’t happen though. I’ll settle for lunch from Falafel King instead.

A few MTB forum threads mention issues with some Haven rear hubs losing their bearing preload.

Looking at the Easton website (point 13 on the following link) they offer an
alternative preload adjuster for some wheels, but do not directly specify the Havens.

It’s a cliche, but I’ve always found a packet of chocolate digestives goes down very well when asking my LBS for a bike box or two.

Price aside (if you can ignore £1000…), I’m really put off by the reported hub issues. Having had a bad experience with another proprietary wheel set before (Crank Bros), I wonder, how do these products make it through the product testing phase? Or are the tests simply not rigorous enough?
