Built a set of Light-Bicycle rims on DT 240 hubs for 2/3 the price of 1 ENVE rim. They didn’t explode going down the Rangers Path on Saturday, and I don’t exactly ride with finesse. You pays your money and takes your choice!

I can see an end to my off-road riding but I sincerely hope I’ll always be able to swing a leg over/through a bike/trike/recumbent for a gentle pootle along country lanes

My nachos arrived on the cafe table yesterday covered with a formless mass of orange, rubbery, tasteless goo.

I must confess that I ate the lot. I’m sorry. I realise that such behaviour does not help your cause.

We did it yesterday- Telegraph, llanberis up down Rangers.

We started at 12ish finished at 4?

We were up there at the same time and also took the Rangers most of the way back. Did 2 of your group puncture on the trail back into Llanberis? If so, you were shouting at me to “keep pedalling” as we passed you on the descent while you waited for your mates.

It was a great day. Snowdon lessons learned for me are:

    1. A granny ring would be very welcome on the way up the Llanberis. 32t x 11:36 was a struggle.
    2. I was very glad of big tyres (Hans Dampfs) on the way down, especially on the loose rocky stuff
    3. Next time I would plan to go on a weekday, weather permitting. It was like Piccadilly Circus up there.

Top weekend, all in all. Spent a few hours around the Cli-machx trail yesterday, followed by a spin down Sustrans route 8 to Barmouth and back from our base in Dolgellau.

Always. In 5 years, I’ve had a few punctures but no need to use the tube. I’ll probably get 3 flats on my next ride now.

    What scaredypants said.

If you have time, pop a tube in, put washing-up liquid on the bead, inflate to the max psi for the tyre and leave for 24 hours before removing the tube, adding the valve & jizz and pumping up.

Stans yellow tape, valves and sealant should be all you need.

Edit: you can get away with electrical tape or gorilla tape, both of which are cheaper.

I have a 5-spot. It’s not pretty but then I’m riding it, not looking at it.

I immediately inform such callers that we have a policy of not signing up to anything on the doorstep. Perhaps my body language also suggests that their efforts are futile. And the fact that I’m naked.

Is it doable on a tail of the hard variety?

I hope so as, weather permitting, I’ll be doing this on Sunday.

Have just put a pair of Trailstars on my hardtail. Off to Wales for 4 days on Friday. Weather permitting, I’ll be testing the HDs on Snowdon. 😀

I had very warty hands when I was 11/12/13. I had around 40 of them mostly on fingers and thumbs. Tried all sorts of potions and lotions to make them go away. Nothing worked. Then they all disappeared within a fortnight.

Just popped out for tea with my daughter. She had the teacake, I had the wafer. If I’d had a second coffee, I’d have gone for another wafer. The teacakes are an occasional thing for me. They are just too insubstantial to be satisfying (and too sweet to eat more than one two three.

Get something that can take 2″ tyres – they provide an extra bit of suspension for the baby seat. Cheap, 2nd hand hardtail or rigid would be my choice.

Recently put a 2.25 NN on the front. Have found it wishy-washy and not confidence inspiring at all. The Racing Ralph it replaced was better.

Well, a combination of good industry connections allied to the fact that our development is part of a larger project meant that we got lucky and saved a few quid. An unusual set of circumstances, granted.

If your only paying £800 all in the architect is either desperate or it was done by the work experience student.

How little you know of the circumstances surrounding our building work. Well done, anyway.

We paid £800 plus VAT for initial drawings, building regs drawings and subsequent tweaks. Plus another £150 for steel calculations from another company. This was for a ground floor extension (35 sq m) and knock-through. Total cost of our build is ~ £50k

EDIT: We agreed architrave fees up front 😉

5-spot owner here. I have that very grease gun but I’m not convinced it’s very effective. The grease just seems to splurge out all over the zerk, rather then into it.

I have 4 bottles of my late grandfather’s rhubarb wine at the back of a kitchen cupboard….it was his last ever batch and was made in 1989. Still drinkable, too. Hic.
