If I’ve learnt one thing from the STW forum, it’s to avoid buying stuff from Dave Hinde over the internet.

It would depend how much you have been offered for the CK/Flow wheels.

I like that. One day I will try a fattie!

Technology just seems to bring out the worst in humanity, whether that be weapons development or filming and distributing images of murder/torture/abuse. It’s very sad.

The ClimachX trail just outside Machynlleth is pretty good.

    Hello,

I’m interested in running a dynamo light for off-road. I’m partial to a bit of wheel building too, so I might give this hub a go.

What make/model of lamp do you use it with?

Just imagine if all the guff spouted on STW was actually spoken! The CO2 footprint would be enough to doom us all thrice over.

Will they electrify the trail (as opposed to bringing it alive)?

Look upon it as a sort of defibrillator. Bringing back to life previously dead trails…

My salary and that of my manager as I’ve been doing mine and his jobs for the last year anyway. Hmmph.

I have Trailstars front and back on my hardtail. Excellent grip on a recent trip to Snowdonia, but with that comes the inevitable dragginess.

This thread is omphaloskeptical. I’m off to watch MotD instead. And I don’t even like football.

    Disagreement is where its at.

    Oh no it isn’t!

    S’all pantomime, innit.

For me, riding position is important and can help alleviate symptoms, but (and it’s a cliche) there is no substitute for core stability and flexibility.

Edit: there was a time when due to a back injury that I couldn’t bend forward more than about 20 degrees. Conditioning my core muscles has meant that they better support my dodgy spine. When I do have a back spasm, which is luckily an infrequent occurrence these days, the recovery time is definitely shortened by having trained my core.

Edit 2: like wallop says, tight hammies and hips don’t help. Lots of stretching!

    “once it’s gone it’s gone”

I kept searching for a long time: my stuff turned up 18 months after the bike was stolen!

A quick bit of investigation revealed the ID and address of the seller. I provided all information to the 2 relevant police forces. Nothing was done about it for nearly 6 weeks. I remain to be convinced that Avon and Somerset are taking bike theft seriously.

The local cops are quite on the ball

Alas, not my experience. OK, so they visited the scene and looked for evidence but having subsequently spotted parts of my stolen bike for sale, the police reaction was unsatisfactory to say the least.

Will keep my eyes peeled for you, OP, but I believe most high-end stolen bikes are quickly stripped and moved around the country. It pays to personalise as many of your bike components as you can. It helps to ID them if they crop up for sale somewhere.

Be aware that certain medical conditions, for example diabetes, can cause excessive body odour that no deodorant is going to completely mask. Just sayin’ like.

could anyone please enlighten me as to when and where the best time and place to repeatedly shout BOLLOOOOOOOOOCKS!!! at the top of ones lungs might be..?

I have a job interview on Wednesday. Perhaps I should try it then?

Did Snowdon for the first time the weekend before last. Up Llanberis (with some pushing/carrying I might add!), the summit was crowded with walkers. The descent of Rangers was mercifully devoid of pedestrians and I loved it. From the loose surface at the top with grapefruit-sized rocks pinging off my shins, to the rocky steps halfway down (I dabbed, the shame!) it was great fun. We branched off right and pushed a short way up to the saddle point at the top of the adjacent valley (Telegraph?). The smooth, flowing trail back to Llanberis got the juices flowing. Much cake was then eaten.

Interview on Wednesday. Bring it on.

I sold a set if pace rc31s with 1 inch steerer on eBay last week for £100 if that’s any help.

Really? Hmmm, may have to sell my set gathering dust in the garage then!

When I had this I cut out a small square of old inner tube, cut a small nick in it and pushed it onto the base of the valve before putting the valve in the rim.

I have pacri-bolts like those pictured, a Torq ground anchor and a 16mm Pragmasis chain. They just ripped the steel re-inforced, multi-locking garage door off it’s hinges and then sawed through my bike frame instead. 🙁

You can secure the bike as much as you like, but if they’re going to sell it for parts…

Garage and house now fully alarmed, plus I let my pet scorpions have free run of the garage. 😉

You will only ever slow them down. They are a determined bunch of ****s.

I find the Venturi II pretty warm compared to, say, a Pac-lite shell. This time of year, I just wear a long sleeve base layer under it and I’m still cooking after a while.

I feel your pain. Curiousyellow is right, though. You just have to treat their comments as water off a ducks back. I take great enjoyment from arguing with my MiL, and I suspect she does the same. Crafty old witch! 😈
