Cheers honourablegeorge – Reverb has just been serviced, my new jacket arrived two weeks ago, as did my waterproof 3/4’s (great minds think alike 😉 ) and thanks for suggestions. Any more?

I have thought of maybe a slightly lighter weight jacket and possibly a new shifter. Maybe some M4 Hopes to replace my X2’s?

Drac, wouldn’t mind having a blast on 650b, but not in such a hurry to hop on a fatbike!

    I have never:

Watched any Star Wars film (Thank God)
Watched any Star Trek episode (Thank God)

Personally, I think it’s the biggest load of drivel to ever grace this planet.

I got engaged last month OP, I know your pain. Trust me, go and choose one together. Make your proposal and then go to the jewellers with each other. It’s what we ended up doing and to be honest it saves the possibility of getting something she really doesn’t like, and also I think it’s quite a nice experience and quite exciting to do it together.

I wish you all the best, and congrats! (As long as she says yes 😉 )

Lovely, PaulEvans. And Marcus7, my cousin has the Milgauss and absolutely loves it. It is a stunning watch and the second hand is really different. Go on, treat yourself 😉

MountainMutant, that Tag is stunning. And so is your choice in cars.

GMT II with blue/black is a gorgeous looking piece as well. My next choice is either one of those or a Submariner date. Just something about the Sub date that does it for me.

Cheshire Cat is right. Tights. Not gonna lie, they’re awesome. Get yourself some waterproof shoes as well. I did and they’re the best running thing I’ve bought.

The smallest thing you will probably find will be something like a Peugeot Expert, Citroen Berlingo or Fiat Scudo. After that you’re getting into SWB Ford Transit and Vauxhall Vivaro territory. Why not go for one of them anyway and have the extra space in the back for kit, helmets, shoes etc.

    Lovely looking watch nicko74.

Don’t have an actual picture of mine, however Google supplied one.

Breitling Montbrillant Datora. Also have a brown croc strap with deployant clasp which is due to go back on.

I know you’ve already counted out Berlin, but I’ve heard from a few people who have been that it is absolutely stunning so I’d possibly look into it a little more.

Anyway, if all else fails, Manchester Christmas markets are pretty fun!

    😉

Just received 4.5 stars in a recent test and the battery lasts for a daft long time. Ordered mine around an hour ago

    Hi Tom

I’m not too sure if you’ve got the right one… I remember one of the songs from Crank it Up and it wasn’t the same artist. Thank you, though.

Sorry Organic… your post actually made me laugh. Things happen mate… good days and bad days. You should be happy you’ve got a child on your way. Laugh it all off and appreciate it’s just going to be one of those days.

I play badminton with a group of mates on Wednesday evenings in winter. Good and fun way to keep fit when its a bit too miserable to climb on the bike for a night ride. Ask your riding mates if they fancy giving it a go… you’ll enjoy the rivalry!

140mm Floats and a 1×10 setup on mine. Short stem and wide bars (50mm and 780mm). The 1×10 can be hard on some climbs, but not pushed anywhere yet and I like the simplicity. Also I personally find a dropper post to be possibly the most valuable thing on the bike. Ride mostly in the Peak District. I think anything more than 150mm up front on a Five may jeopardise its climbing ability.

I found the 2.2 small Hora, if I bought them again I’d be going for 2.4.

My head hurts from reading all that tech stuff, I’m useless with it all!

Same problem as the OP, Floats not using all of travel so I wouldn’t mind seeing how much fluid is in them to see if we’ve got 5ml in there or more… how do I do this please folks? Sorry for the daft question.

    Hi James
Last Christmas I got myself a pair of Adidas Kandia 4 Gore-Tex trail running shoes and they are faultless. Comfy, warm, and waterproof and the sole is remarkable. You can pick them up for a steal now (around the £59 mark) as the Kandia 5 has been released so the 4’s are ‘last years’.
    Hope this helps.

Please excuse the plug but my cosuin is selling a Cube road bike, absolutely like new, 25 miles old. Have a look at the advert I’ve posted for him as he doesn’t use STW and get in touch if you’d like pictures. He’s after £1,100 and is your exact height and leg length.

I don’t have any of these, nor have I ridden them but when I had a look at them with the interest that you currently have of buying one a couple of months ago, all the reviews I read said go for the Whyte.

Trail bike of the year etc., Reverb on a bike under £2k etc. Whyte would be the one I’d go for. Check out BikeRadar’s review – it sounds a pretty awesome bike for £2k.

Thanks for your comment WonderChump – great bike but just doesn’t get used.

A well capable and all rounded hardtail that takes everything you throw at it and is still very comfortable for all-dayers.

I think Lofty would love it!

They look really smart, would love one. Problem is, Mrs Bowie278 just bought me a Mulberry one for my birthday and I’d be castrated if I got one. Wooopssss.

Vauxhall Combo. Cracking little 1.3 CDTI engine and bags of room in the back. Ford’s can ocassionally run into engine trouble while the Combo is pretty bulletproof. If not that then again another Vauxhall, the Astra van. Although in the Astra bikes can be a struggle to stand upright and need to go on their side.

Been following this post OldGit, really sad to hear the news my friend. My thoughts are with you as I know exactly how it feels. Chin up bud, he wouldn’t want you upset. Take the happy memories and cherish them!

Know how you feel oldgit, it’s such a miserable feeling. Happened to my dog Fred, last year. Absolutely fine one minute, then went downhill, to the stage where he would fall over and have horrendous nose bleeds etc. Took the poor chap to the vets and they said if he stays around much longer he’ll start to be in pain and so that made the decision for us. Poor old boy was put down that evening but he died with dignity still intact, and left us with plenty of amazing memories.

Take him to the vets, and see what they say. If it’s looking not so good, then don’t be selfish and let him go peacefully and painlessly. I’m pretty sure you don’t want your Toby in pain. Thoughts are with you bud.
