    Stubai glacier – guaranteed snow.
Stay in Innsbruck – guaranteed to find decent hotels and food/drink

Going back for second winter in a row. Can’t wait 🙂

Perhaps this will sound like a silly question, but having not used a turbo before I don’t know how loud they are? I saw zwift on the cycleshow and like the look of it, but could I use it in my living room with the gf around? Also live in a flat so worried about vibrations disturbing downstairs. Cheers

I can double check map but fairly certain that’s the route. Once crossed the bridge pictured, took the track which heads round to the right* rather than heading left toward Culra and Ben Alder. River crossing, then through the saddle before dropping back down at end of the lochan, camped halfway along it then continued heading back towards Ardveckie.
*apologies for the rights and lefts, would also need to confirm with map which direction that was on a compass 😐

I will need to double check though, memory may be getting bits of the two days jumbled together.

I had 2×9 SLX on mine. Was good as far as ratios etc went but chainsuck was an issue as mentioned. Slightly warped outer ring was a possible suspect though.

Its currently stripped in shed, but if I was rebuilding I would go 1×10 with clutch mech no question

Aye the heli pad was pretty sweet. Looked like there was a decent gatehouse/guardhouse too. We detoured slightly into the grounds but very loud scary sounding dogs sent us out again 😕

Surely The Expendables…. As far as action/shoot em up/not much plot/bad pun type films go its up there! A lot of big names.

Yeah I wasn’t impressed by that. He quit, that should be him gone.

I have the same problem, not built to fit cycle clothing apparently. I use general outdoors stuff for both soft shell and waterproof. Rab and Mountain Equipment are current choices. Fits perfectly, only thing possibly missing is rear pocket but mainly wear a rucksack anyway so no real issue there.

Great thanks for that. I had a feeling + size might be a tough one if there isn’t much room for a 2.4 29er

I generally used to use strava on phone in pocket to record my runs and check distance/time. Good for that but I wanted to start keeping an eye on my pacing etc during a run and found a garmin forerunner pretty ideal for that. I didn’t want to use heart rate, pace is a better tool for me.

couple of pictures of my last bikepacking trips and equipment in Scotland

Trip up Glen Tilt on 26″ Cove hartail. Worked well for strapping most kit onto.

Latest trip was on 26″ orange five, far harder to attach everything too so ended up with rucksack too which I had hoped to avoid.

both trips have used a tent, I have recently bought a bivy bag and tarp to try, my biggest concern is midges though…

Planning more trips for next year, have purchased a 29″ On-one inbred to build into a rigid off road bikepacking machine. And also the Genesis Croix de fer below, for more road/canal path focused trip. N+1 right 🙄

Waterproof gloves got to be Sealskins for me. hands can get a bit sweaty when its warmer but definitely keep the water out. Sure they do different thickness as well so maybe a thin pair and thicker pair depending on temperature would be ideal. No issues with grip/control for me

Out of interest, how many people leave promptly from work?

I do 90% of the time. My day should end at 16:45. My laptop lid normally gets closed at 45 on the dot! I have no issue with doing overtime if required and if I’m getting paid, but theres no way I’m sitting faffing around at the end of the day for no reason.

I got the Genesis Croix De Fer 10 for this reason, think it was about £800 or so, money left over in the grand for some new shoes and pedals. Excellent bike for almost everything I do if I ride to work (or anywhere else), roads, gravels, canal path, some singletrack etc.

Audi A6 circa 99-02 age. Amazing cars and I think the interior is nicer than the newer ones.

I had a Specialized sectuer as a first road bike and found it excellent! Triple chainset helped with the hills and a comfier position than some racier bikes. Also has shock absorber things in forks and rear triangle, may have helped or maybe just a gimmick but the lbs sold me on them!

I’d be keen for some pentlands riding! I would struggle to commit to every week but a few evenings a month would be manageable.
I’d be heading out along canal/water of leith to get there.

Many thanks for the suggestions so far! Planning to get the OS maps/google out for a few hours and try do some planning but great to get some hints first.

If anyone has any of these gpx files that I can put into my garmin that I’ve recently bought (and need to start using!) that would be pretty sweet!
