Wtb HTZ rims are crazy strong, not the easiest to get in the UK atm all the usual EU shops send to the UK.

“i don’t know enough about UDH to know if it’s compatible or not but I’m sure it’d be easy to find out if you didn’t know already”

Quick and easy answer is nope.

Identiti have a proprietary sliding dropout arrangement so no UDH there.

I love the ease of use of Dynaplug but availability of refills is awful.

Currently showing as out of stock everywhere including the Dynaplug UK site and no due date.

Both links in the article above are out of stock as well btw

I could spend £25 on a pack of 5 on Amazon but that’s more than a complete entry level kit (if you can find one that is in stock in the UK)

I know, I know,  not enough capitals and spellings for a singletrack standard whinge. 😅

I did the binning mor switchbacks as an out and back a few years ago, was super fun and you could ride a reasonable amount of the path after you leave the land rover track.

The Scotty laughland series of you tube videos had a route that gives a different way to the top of the ridge between binning mor and sgor elide beag which it sounds like your mate is proposing.

Video from 4.55ish if the link doesn’t go straight to that

Tweed valley local here, I put an enduro xynotal on the back of my bike about a month ago having worn out the last kryptotal and have been hating it.

Yes it rolls faster on the climbs but it’s got way less grip for braking/cornering on anything loose/loamy/rooty.

So much so that I have just bought a kryptotal enduro to stick back on.

Your experience may be different because I also hated the trail kryptotal I tried, the harder compound just didn’t cut the mustard for me.

I’d also say that the 2.4 is better than the 2.6 which is a little bit too fat for the muddy stuff and ends up floating across the top.

“I think that is down to hotlines the distributor. Hopefully Hayes/manitou will get better UK representation as an outcome of Signas collapse.”

Hotlines dropped distribution of Hayes bike group at the end of April this year.

Since then no other UK distributor has taken the option to add them to their portfolio so anything Hayes/Manitou/SunRingle/Protaper comes from the Hayes Europe location in Germany.

I was surprised that Upgrade didn’t take them on as they already distribute Reynolds who are the other brand in the Hayes group.

On the MezZer front I would like to see a coil version as I have never got my forks set to a level of small bump sensitivity that I want without sacrifices in mind stroke support.

Just need to find someone with lathe skills who can make an air piston replacement so I can jam a z1 coil in them.

My experience is that the tracks over glengaber are just vague lines across boggy ground.
As mentioned by thenorthwind there is a track up through lewenshope that is useful, it goes up to the house at the end and then curves round the hillside to a walking path along a firebreak that cuts through to the forestry road that then takes you up to the SUW.

worth noting that there is forestry activity along there at the moment with the track up to the woods looking to have been improved for machine access but this may mean the short path through is less viable.

Also the farmer at the start of the track where you leave the yarrow road is pretty keen on having a go at you about private land even though it’s a road to a house and nothing to do with him.

There is now a new farm track that goes up to SUW at  Brown knowe from the same point as the minchmoor drove road that is mainly pleasant, has a steep kick at the end.

There is also the broadmeadows way up to the 3 brethren that takes you past the old youth hostel from yarrow and also the Corbie linn way up to the brethren.

Easy enough to combine those with the various duchess drive at bowhill/black Andrew/whitchy knowe tracks along to the swire to get a lollipop loop based on the SUW.

It’s a fairly wide range for sure. The breakdown goes something like this.

    6.5/5.5/4.5 have double skin lens

5.0/4.0 have single skin MTB specific lens

6.5 has quick change lens, outriggers and a 50mm strap

    5.5 has outriggers and a 45mm strap

    4.5 has a 40mm strap

5.0 is MTB with a iriz tinted and ventilated lens

4.0 is MTB with a ventilated strap as well as the ventilated lens.

Double and single lenses are all the same size so interchangeable between all the models.

Most people would be best with the 4.0 or 4.5 and with a spare clear lens.

Feel free to ask any other Leatt based questions.

    Cheers, cirdan.

Bargain price, just be aware that they don’t come with the usual spare pads and the olive is already fitted to the hose.

Maybe treat yourself to a nicer set of nukeproof pedals, the sam hill enduro are £59.99 at the moment and come in a polished silver option that would match the trek logo nicely.

You could go wild and get a matching polished nukeproof stem as well and that would be job done, no need for anything else to be anything other than black.

In a similar vein of lights that are well designed, don’t have “china” power claims and come with everything that you need in the box including spare optics to change the beam pattern the Gloworm XSV is currently on a great deal on Wiggle at £189.

Yes it’s a separate battery pack but easy to strap it to your top tube using the short cable and the wireless remote means easy changing of power levels.

Also Wiggle so no hassle returns if any issues. Mine needed a software update when I first got them and have been rock solid since.

I’m 6’3″ and usually wear a large in leatt pants and just live with the “cool” gap between cuff and ankle.
The waterproof pant material is a bit less stretchy so I had to go to an XL and then use the adjusters.

Slightly wishing I had gone for the onesie tbh. Don’t often wear waterproof pants or a fully waterproof jacket unless it’s Baltic/lashing down at which point the no waist gap would be nice.

All good information, especially that the drivers compartment might be cramped given that I’m tall.
Wasn’t planning on standing up in the back being a definite need, more that I had a T4 and found it annoying when being used for trips of more than a couple of nights particularly when the finest Scottish weather kicks in.
We have vivaro/traffic at work and they also feel lacking in height for me.

Also interesting that the custom sounds like it’s crashy on lesser roads, the jumbo transit at work is pretty good and hasn’t rusted so far.

Sounds like some test drives required.

Annoying autocorrect. Should have been nissan nv400, there are a few close to me in the smaller h1l1 or h2l2 sizes which look to have pretty similar internal sizes to the transit custom.
Looking at the H2 in the custom, beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that. 🤣

The Ducato was where I started looking but advice from mates was that it’s worse to drive than the nissan as an even older base platform.

Slightly different form factor but the gloworm Alpha is a great deal on wiggle at the mo as part of the black Friday binge.

1200 actual measured lumens, 4 hours run time on max, millions of spares in the box and completely rebuildable. Even has a wireless remote in there, all reduced to £80.

On the gore infinium front gore themselves make the lupra which fulfills the windproof/almost waterproof/breathes well and MTB fit at a price way more palatable than the Rapha one.
Currently reduced a bit on wiggle at £144
    https://www.wiggle.co.uk/gore-wear-womens-lupra-cycling-jacket

I have the gore endure which is the fully waterproof version and it’s super nice on the bike.

Have you used the app to make sure the firmware on the lights is up to date.

You could try changing from 2 button mode to single button mode on the remote and then back again.

In theory that should move the lights to a single button control and then going back to 2 buttons should resync.

The other option is just to fit Schrader tubeless valves, options include Nutrak, Stans, Joe’s etc etc.

Easy to run a drill through the valve hole I. The rim if it is presta only. Carbon excluded obvs.

As an alternative view on the Luxe hexapeak v4 I’m 6’3″ and get on with it fine but I always sleep in a fetal position.

It even managed a 10 day tour of Slovenia with both me and my girlfriend with no worries but she is only 5’5″ so is pretty easy to fit anywhere.

If it’s just swapping onto a frame with the same hose length do you need to fit new olives?
When ever I swapped hoses, admittedly on Shimano brakes, because I run them right hand rear I just leave the olive in.
As long as the barrel nut is snugged up I have never had any issues with them sealing properly.

Medium is way too short, don’t you feel like you are being rotated over the front on the steeps.

6’3″ on an XL. 150 airshaft in the forks, removed the spacer in the shock for that vital extra 7mm of rear wheel travel 🤣
Live in the tweed valley and it copes with everything happily.

Are you sure it’s not a freewheel, loads of cheap hub drive e bikes use 8 speed ones and depending on the brand of freewheel they often have what looks like a lockring spline on the outer cog that holds it together, there is a standard freewheel spline deeper in.

This one at sjs is a good example

the eagle mech and 11 speed shifter combo will never index properly, the ratio are different. the confusion arises because sram say that you can use the 11 speed chain with eagle.

sram 10 and 11 speed components are interchangeable.

In a totally contradictory way that is to be expected from stw i also have a saxon cross and a couple of years ago fitted the wheels from a whyte 603 into it with no problem.
They were fitted with wtb nano tyre in a 2.1 size. It should be noted that they are a narrow tyre for the quoted size.
    Cheers.
