Spesh Fast trak LK are very fast, grippy enough and "2bliss" so work well with sealant. Also only about £22 for the S-works.

    See that green light sabre?

That flashes green all the time and is very close to traffic lights on a busy, multi-lane one way system. Genius!

    It cost us £60,000…

I had this dilemma a couple of months ago. Ended up getting Magura Durins and haven't regretted it for a moment.

    Final Bump!

We are cutting a new trail, so if you come along, probably best to avoid shorts and t-shirts!

I'm using one with Shimano XT, one with Magura and one with Ashima with no problems. So I would say not fussy…

I have a Durin on my Hardtail and a Thor on my FS. Both are significantly better than the Fox/RS I had before. Stiffer, better small bump response, better damping, and lower maintenance.

    Highly recommended.

Superstart sintered for me. And all Shimano brakes from the last 4 or 5 years use the same pads apart from the new Saint ones.

Do the Southern English really hate the Scots then?

Only on Calcutta Cup day! :D

Given that where I live France is 85km away and Scotland is 500km away I think most people are more interested in Europe than Scotland. My partner is from NE Scotland though and we go up there regularly to see the outlaws. I've always found the Scots to be friendly and welcoming so I certainly don't hate them.

    Hi Glenn,

Try what Dibbs says. It can take a bit of patience, but I've never not been able to resurrect one yet! If you want any help, give me a shout.

I use one of the Deuter hydration packs with built in CE certified baqck protection. It's very comfortable and feels just like any other hydration pack. I haven't tried out it's protection levels yet though (touches wood)!

However if you have some non Canon lenses (ie Sigma) then some older ones won't work – they just throw up an error on the camera. It's worth googling the lens first to see if there are any problems.

/pedant mode/ The Ti used in bike frames is an alloy as it is a mixture of other metals. Did you mean "titanium alloy vs Aluminium Alloy"

Mojo REALLY p1ss me off with their "you are buying a Ferrari not a Ford" argument. Unless you can prove you have serviced them every 15 hours and changed the seals every 3 months they won't warranty them. My Specialized E100 forks and Magura Durins are arguably much more Ferrari than my old Talas, but just require a basic service once a year. And from the demo bikes I tried over the weekend, work much better as well.

Senna had special engines from Honda and Prost's ire was partially due to not getting a fair crack.

Well that's bollox. Prost alleged that, so Honda put all the engines in front of him and let him choose whichever one he wanted. IIRRC Prost had to make an apology for that one.

The answer to "when will it become the SE Premier destination" etc etc is simple. When more than the usual half dozen people turn up to help with trail builds. Not being in Scotland or Wales and not having large bike manufacturers on the doorstep means we don't get EU money or any other come to that. Last year around £25k was spent on repairing the trails which had deteriorated badly. This year the budget is likely to be less than half of that – virtually all raised by the bike club. So we NEED volunteers to help out and make the money go further.

So, sorry it's a slightly depressing answer, but if even 1% of the people who ride there, or 10% of the bike club members turned up to each build day, there really would be a noticeable difference.

See you all on the 13th then!

Check the load bearing capacity of the floor of the room you want to put it in. A friend of a colleague got one, filled it with water and it went through the floor in to her kitchen…

The '10 Thors have much better small bump sensitivity than Talas. Much stiffer to.

Nickc – is that with the '09's or '10's? I only ask as I'v just got some of the '10's and the small bump absorption is brilliant.

All Shimano levers are compatible with all Shimano callipers. Just make sure your hoses have the right fitting on the ends – straight or banjo.

They are crap. Heavy, take ages to inflate and you have to stand on them and stoop to work them. So they get covered in mud and you get a sore back and arm. Get a Mountain Morph.

Yes! Boarsonbikes do a night ride on a Wednesday evening, starting in the car park by the bike shop at 6.30. We lock the gates to keep your car safe, so make sure you get there before 6.30 or you will be locked out. Keep an eye on the forum at http://www.boarsonbikes.co.uk though as sometimes we have to cancel due to weather or lack of leaders.

Be good to see you there.

What the hell are you guys doing? I used to commute 40 miles a day on tight and twisty B roads in a 2 ltr Toyota Carina and after 100k miles the brake pads were about a third worn. No signs of wear on the discs at all. Tyres lasted 50k miles. Keep it smooth and anticipate, and it saves you shed loads of money to spend on bikes…

I run a PA with a Marzocchi AM1 set at 150mm. I don't know what the head angle is, but it handles superbly. I would imagine that it is longer than 1 150 Revelation, so go for it!
