The wiring loom to the injectors can fail, easy to change. Could still be injectors, mail me I may have some. Would need to see if they are compatible.

Why would the wrong spec oil cause a misfire? Although PD’s do need the “proper” oil due to camshaft design with the Injectors. If the engine had been run enough to cause damage it wouldn’t get any better once the cam followers had worn out.

The PD engine isn’t a common rail injection system. It has unit injectors which are given a helping hand with pressure from the camshaft.

I remember that you fill in a returns form, you print it and stick it to the box and away it goes to be replaced with more shiney gear.

I have got the “bicycle buyers bible” from 1985/6 from a chap at work. It has a section on mountain bikes which I quite liked,
“It’s tempting to not even discuss rims because they fail so rarely…………Those that do appear to fail are Champion 650B’s”

I suppose there are no problems with “Gasoline direct injection” and particulate matter that is ejected from them.
IIRC mot testers can’t remove any trays or covers to check items, it’s been a while but that is how it used to be.
[Diesels are for trucks and agriculture.

In a car they just advertise to everyone that you are tight or don’t really like cars.

I bought the Scott recruit flexible armour and have to say it is comfy and not too hot, D3O pads are removable. Available from Tweeks which may put you off, although I had no problems.

Apparently sudocream isn’t so good. After a Gorrick it had turned to glue. Made me smart it did. Had a very smooth bum afterwards! 8O

PD engines need a particular oil, can be expensive. Pretty bulletproof engine though. My PD 100 hp ibiza’s done 125k and has done nothing to moan about. Rest of the car though I guess they still break window regulators. Also have the clutch on the alternator checked as they rattle and give up (mine at 120k) this sounds like and annoying rattle which it sounds like yours has.

I have the 2.25 Nobby Nic Gatestar compound on the front of my bike, fabulous……. they do wear quite fast, I have a proper UST Pacestar one on the rear which is less sticky but I quite like that. That said the standard compounds are awful in comparison.

You need to find out why they came loose. Very easy to change the bearings.

They seem to make you ride flat out everywhere. I am not getting much life out of the front tyre though, and I’ve broken it! Really fun bike imo.

So from my brief skim read here the doctor is always right? Do what they say without thought.

    cough
    Thalidomide

Parents “try” to do the right thing, arguing the MMR case with my wife involved a lot of “what ifs” evenually we had it done.

I have found my family doctor to be pretty poor to be fair.

Measure the depth of the hole on the crank this should let you know what you need. I assume (dangerous) that the inner ring bolts screw into the crank spider rather that screw into a nut, like these.

I’ve got both, and old knackered one and a new one, they work the same but the old one feels nicer. I haven’t snagged the new one as much as the older one. (may be luck)

I think the new stuff looks great. I do hope there is a settling in, rebuild time. Some of the new stuff, (eg off the tank traps) may erode quite quickly. There is, from what I have seen, plenty of opportunity to bin it and land in a crunpled heap. Stuff near the reservoir had my grinning but I am old and slow ()

When m-s paid out on mine they didn’t take the 20% off on the bits they couldn’t source. ie on ones and an identity that was not replaceable. They did take it off stuff they could get though.

I had 3 tonnes delivered and the pile was around 7 to 8 foot high and wide in a triangle about 8 foot long. £150 for that so your 6 t is a great deal.
