The V6 Sharans use an horrendous amount of fuel. Diesels are good. I think we had a 2.3? petrol Galaxy and that was wallet crushing to fill up too. My brother has had 2 diesels Sharans now as well and is happy with his. Seat Alhambra is the same car also.

Put some masking tape where you are going to cut and chop it with a chisel. It’s how we do our braided hoses at work.

I quite fancied the name Merlin but my wife decided not. He is now called Ben, our daughter made an appearance and was given the name Eve, which was nowhere near anything we had on a list at the time. Make sure it doesn’t spell anything stupid when all the initials are written.

I have the traversee and some 4.2 rims. The 4.2 rims bend and dent seemingly every time I go out and the traversee’s seem pretty good at the moment. The 4.2’s are on a hardtail and the roval’s are on my Heckler.

I’m not a great fan of the 4.2’s. For a slow non jumpy type rider both rims have damage.

Make the room very dark then open a window and curtains, if it is not dead or dying it will make for the light and escape into the jaws of a cat. (probably)

Does the compression damping make it slower if you turn it up or does it stay the same. If it stays the same it may be a broken bit inside.

Why not try a couple of demo bikes out and see if biking is for her, You could use a couple of bike shops and see what happens from there?

my ss pads are fine and went in ok. Sometimes pushing the pistons back and letting a little fluid out helps. If you replace the pistons can I have the old ones :-)? Good luck

mine have the rim tape and that is all bar a little sealant. No horrendous experiences yet, bar buggering a spoke on the first outing.

A bigger rotor has more leverage than a smaller rotor. Think about stopping the rotor with your fingers (carefully, don’t try this at home), if you could squeeze a large rotor at the outside edge it would be easier and if you stopped it at the hub you need more effort on the hub sized rotor, it is the same as spinning a wheel up. If you spin from the hub you need more effort to get it going. You can probably tell I’m not a teacher.

I went the wrong way at Cymcarn once.. :? All I could think was that I was even more rubbish than I had thought before and that the Welsh riders were hard as nails. (never been before and there was a van in front of the start. Mid week and didn’t meet anyone anyway/fortunately. Did it the right way afterwards when a mate turned up and realised what had happened. duh

Have a word with Fisher, I got my Pike’s rebuilt for nothing when I had a problem with them. (My fault entirely) I was really really impressed. Might have their number somewhere?

<http://www.frenchtimberdirect.co.uk/> depending on where you are, it’s about £40 m2 and you have to pick up. I’m just about to lay a second room. The first one is a walkway as well, down for 3 or so years and not real wear. I sealed mine with liberon sealer then waxed over to make it lethal. Where are you, if you are near Reading come and have a look.

Could you possibly be wrong about your idea of set up and have “luckly” now found the correct “tune” for you? Just an idea.

get some sintered pads, get them hot by braking on the road, do it again. Job done. Report back with your findings. Superstar sintered seem fine and cheap, if you wear them out too quick you should get your money back. I’m on my second set this winter which I think is fine.

I used to live down there and there were frequently oil exploration surveys. Not really worth worrying about.

I’d say that in the great scheme of things bike rotors are punched/cut out of a sheet of cheapish metal don’t get left to “age” and then the heat in / heat out relieves these stresses by warping the disc. Like only using a used enging block to build a tuned engine. I’m sure many will disagree though
