Will be interesting to see how far they go as I ordered at 16.14 on the 25th and no despatch email yet.

16:08 for me and nothing yet.

    Ooooh the tension is palpable.

Wow, so it could be a merry Christmas from Garmin.

@househusband.so you got an ‘order shipped’ email just now?

The will it/won’t it anticipation is playing havoc with my nervous system.

I need some kind of device to monitor my heart rate.

How’s dhb sizing these days? I normally hover between L and XL but needed XXL in dhb bibs from a couple of years ago.

    I found that too.

I recommend planning a bit further in advance.

I bought a Blackline about a year ago as replacement for a Sombrio softshell that had put many years faultless service in

It pretty much immediately became my default jacket for cycling, hiking, nipping down to the shops, anything really. And I own quite a few jackets.

It’s absolutely brilliant. The fit is spot on. Its long enough at the back to properly cover your arse while out riding and I love the longer cuffs.

And after a year of getting covered in mud, bunged in the wash, covered in mud, bunged in the wash, covered in mud, bunged in the wash, covered in mud, bunged in the wash, covered in mud, bunged in the wash, covered in mud, bunged in the wash, covered in mud, bunged in the wash, covered in mud, bunged in the wash, covered in mud, bunged in the wash, it still looks as good as the day I bought it.

A top quality bit of kit! I’d happily pay full price for another in a heartbeat, so at the offer price its an absolute bargain

    If it fits you.

I’ve ordered a couple of NP Blackline’s from the link above (the EXMAS10 code is nice sweetener, giving another 10% off an already reduced jacket).

I’m right between X & XL so went with both with option to return.

According to their size guide I’m slap bang in the middle of a L and an XL, alas both will be going back as the L hangs off me like a sack. The quality is great and the sleeve length is bob on but it really needs a waist pull as I could get a cushion up there. I think it’d be ace if I was pregnant, but its unlikely as I’m nearly 60. And I’m a bloke.

Sure they are showing shipped? In my account it says the word ‘Shipped’ but the progress bar hasn’t filled that yet.

Yeah, mine too actually. It’s only ‘order received’ so far.

Mine is showing as shipped too, though it seems unlikely on boxing day

Standard in Tidal Blue ordered for £96.99.
    Thanks OP!

    @Mounty_73
I’d cancel that order and look elsewhere mate. You’ve paid a quid more than the rest of us.

Maybe the sub £100 price will be honoured.

Maybe Garmin gave us all a treat on Christmas day and then hiked the price again today.

Maybe there is a father Christmas after all.

@bonzodog yeah, been struggling with it myself but from what you say, I think the standard will fit your needs. It’s unlikely you would need the added features of the others.

    Cheers mate.

Not exactly sure what I need all this wizardry for, but I’ve ordered a sunburst.

    Thanks @5lab

Camo is the same as standard bar colour.

Surf has timetables and so on added.

Tactical has skydiving features, is geared up for use with night vision and you can turn off the transmitters so you don’t reval your secret HQ on Strava.

Blimey. It’s science fiction to me.

Well, I ride a bike and occaisionaly go for a stroll in the hills, but if I don’t plan on standing on a board in a lumpy sea or leaping out of an aircraft the standard would be a better option for my needs?

    Standard (£96), Camo, Tactical, Surf (- £108).

Would someone be kind enough to explain to this technophobe who needs a watch (but probably only wants to know the time) what the difference is?

There appears to be a few versions of the Nukeproof blackline.

    What’s the difference?

Not Netflix (but Disney+), I’ve spent a good chunk of the weekend binge watching Dopesick.

    It’s totally addictive.

    Cheers.

Watched The Unforgivable (Sandra Bullock) the other night.

Didn’t really fancy it but thought it was a great film.

Hmm, those PX fully loaded are very tempting at that price.

On first click my initial reaction was ‘ooh they look cheap & nasty!’ but from other angles they actually look ok – not that looks matter when they’re caked in shite.

How’s the sizing in real life?

So, is there any reason I shouldn’t order a Whippet frameset for a light but not too serious race bike?

    No reason whatsoever.

    @Andy-R hello me old mate

Well, I recently recommissioned the old SS and had a few great rides on it, and loved it. I just couldn’t walk for 2 days after!

I probably was pretty damn good at it when I was young, fit & stupid. Now I’m only one of those things ;-)

Struggling to get any light at the moment, and so apologies for the pants photo.

First ride out today and I have to say the subtle geo changes over the mk4 work much better for me. I found the 58mm v 80mm fork offset makes it much more manageable for the kinda stuff I get up to. I could be cracking up, but there must be more seat tube on this mk5 as my dropper post marks are buried deeper down in the tube and so along with the ‘less is more’ fork gives the bike a less rangy/gangly look, and this is noticeable in the ride feel. I just think Andy has got this one really dialled in.

I’m on the fence with the 27+ wheels, but I’ll give them time. I like the comfort a plus tyre offers to my aging bones but I feel a bit like I’ve lost my spidey sense without 29 inch wheels.

If you’re interested, I’m a sniff under 6’1″ with a 19.5. 25mm of spacers under a 50mm stem with Stooge moto bars with 10mm lobbed off each end. Absolutely perfect fit. I knew instantly that I’d dropped a spherical when I sold the mk4, but it seems like the planets have aligned once again.

Verdict. If you were lucky enough to get one, don’t let go of it. This is a UK first mono pressing of Sgt Peppers, and just as rare.

if previous form is anything to go by it’ll get carried to a scenic spot for some pictures then carefully carried back, polished and put away again!

    Damn! They’ve sussed me :-)

    How do they size up?

I mean, is it the Italian XXXL = L?

Just be aware, the cassette on my mates GX scandal turned out to be an NX Cassette.

From the On One build spec: “Cassette SRAM PG-1210 Eagle 12 Speed Cassette / 11-50”

Does that denote NX? (I’m a Shimano guy)

Currently £1000 in SX spec or £1300 in GX spec.

Is the GX spec worth £300 more than SX?

I may try them too – though I’d rather cough up the other £15. I’ve never got on with wire beaded tyres.

I spotted the Vittoria Bomboloni at a good price

Just seen these on ebay. £30 with wire bead, £45 (I assume) folding (though the stated weight is the same – 970g??)

Look a good (and cheap) option

    bonzodog

    Cheers for that.

I take it that the higher number is the gnarlier/chunkier tyre?

EDIT* Hmmm. Those XR2’s look suspiciously similar to Chubacubra’s which were my first 29+ experience. They looked great on but they were awful on anything other than a bone dry trail.

Fork mounts only on the Stooge mk4, but the – coming next month – mk5 has frame mounts too. Scrambler has both too (if you can get hold of one).

Mega versatile all in one bikes.

They do an ASX version in 27.2.

Blimey. I struggle to keep up with tech these days. That post would double the value of my Rooster!
