According to this: http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2003&Brand=Bianchi&Model=S.I.S.S&Type=bike the BB width is 68mm, but it doesnt tell you a lot else :-(

    Id send Bianchi an email.

I ordered a Phil Wood BB from them a couple of weeks ago THEN asked them if they were road ones and not mtb (didnt know there was a difference) they said they were road only so I canx my order. but they still took the money out.

Ive asked them for a refund, but its not back in the account yet.

They seem OK though, but take a couple of days to answer emails.

Im using the Middleburn 4 arm spider on my silver RS7’s. I could never get more than 3-4 months out of the Uno soft alloy ring, and so Im happy with the stainless On-One chainring.

Sorry, no pics at the mo.

Im not that impressed with my Endura eVent jacket. Hard to say exactly what I dont like about it, but the performance of the fabric hasnt amazed me to the tune of the £140 I paid for it. Maybe I find the arms a little short for my baboony frame?

I may try the Endura MT500, but the arms would probably be the same cut.

I may flog the eVent on here. Its black XL.

The reason I ask is that Id normally go for steel for longevity, but the PW website says "alloy cups are Teflon impregnated providing compatibility with aluminum and titanium BB shells."

Good to read a ‘real world’ review.

I must confess reading the blurb has me convinced its the way to go, but like I say, there are very few punter comments about.

    Cheers

The tapers are shot. Either by me not keeping the nuts tight enough (on one ride the ND side came loose) or by keeping them too tight and the tapers compressing. Dunno exactly, but Ive lost confidence in square taper and I know that isis bb’s dont seem as reliable, but the SKF ‘seems’ better.

“unless you have very slightly distorted the crank taper hole”

Thats what I thought Id done to be honest, and was just about to buy another set of cranks from RCJ Extreme (£76 – bargain), but as I say, my LBS reckons I dont need to.

Sorry, didnt mention. Its a new UN54 in there, and Ive got a couple spare. What happens is that the crank just sits all the way down the taper, whereas on the Hope that we tried, it just seemed a ‘precision’ fit.

Tried calling Middleburn too to see what they recommend but its an answer machine until next Monday.

If youre sticking with square taper, AFAIK, to reduce weight, you need to go into Ti territory, so the possible answer to your question is no. – But I could be wrong :-)
