Theyre designed for a 29er to put your wrists/hands in just the right spot, and to my mind do the job brilliantly.

Wouldnt fancy bar ends tho

    Right folks, an apology.

I wouldnt normally recommend anything without a link or at least a name, but it was sooo late last night when I got round to posting and I was a tad excited that I could actually still use my fingers to type.

As oddjob syas, theyre the Pearl Izumi Barriers. I got em about 2 weeks ago from Wiggle. Ive just looked and it seems like theyve stopped making 'em :( What a pi$$er!

Theres a few pairs on ebay USA but they work out at around £57 delivered 8O

Though theyre still on the Pearl Izumi site.

Ideally your Merlin Malt 1 needs to be handbuilt by a bloke in a yak in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Its a fantastic hub, I just didnt get on with the bolts.

I had them on my SS Inbred 29er and thought they were dead simple to pop the rear wheel out. My SS Ti 29er with slot dropouts is much more of a faff (imo).

    Slideys everytime.

I was using the bolt in method on my SS with the pro 2 trial/singlespeed hubs. I cant say they ever loosened on me though.

The reason I changed back to a QR system (popped in some Hope inserts) was cos the bolt heads started to round off too easily when I removed the rear wheel.

That doesnt really help you much, but Im a sociable geezer so I thought Id chime in :-)

"so, you've already got a shedfull of skinny twangy 29'ers, and want to know if you should buy another skinny twangy 29'er?

no, you're an idiot with too many bikes"

ahwiles – normally that sort of provoking response could offend but in fact its just what I want to hear :D

Blimey Charlie, theres some nice bikes there tho.

Thanks everyone for talking me out of getting one

Yeah, cynic-al youre right. Bugger me I cant even be arsed to change pedals from one bike to another to save buying another set.

Two things are certain whatever I do. Its gonna keep its steel fork, and its never gonna have gears.

As the weather is lashing it down & cold I think the Stealths (not lites) maybe the way to go.
