JP Weigle Frame Saver is the way to go.

Waxoyl is a compromise because of its thick consisteancy, although it can be bought in a spray can with a plastic pipe like WD40 so it can be directed deep down the tubing. But you’re always going to end up putting too much in and it wont run properly to give full coverage – weight could be the deal-braker too

Weigle Framesaver is different, it is a thinner viscosity and runs down the inside of the tubes. The frame can then be rotated and turned getting everywhere. You end up with just a thin, effective coating…

With the thin modern design of frames and their tubing, some parts of the tubing can be quite thin indeed. UK riding conditions are predominatly wet and therefore muddy and so require you to hose your bike down alot. Water can collect and… well, you get where I’m going

I paid £650 for my Reynolds 853 frame and yes I have waxoyled it, twice now in 2 years before the onset of winter.

I also hang the bike in a warm south facing porch where I’m sure it drys out

So, if you have a larger dia seat post (eg 30.9) presumably there’s a reducer collar of some kind?

Does this work well, and not effect confidence in stability of the post?

Hmm… nice bash (oh and cranks  )

5 bolt though, wouldn’t fit my CD 5 arm

Sorry GeeTee, are you confusing my Niner with IF frames??

First I’ve heard of IF – look very nice, and worth bearing in mind as I sometimes fantasie about a custom ti frame, based on the Niner SIR9…

Im using the Middleburn 4 arm spider on my silver RS7’s. I could never get more than 3-4 months out of the Uno soft alloy ring, and so Im happy with the stainless On-One chainring.

Your gripe is the only ‘bad’ experience I’ve heard anyone say about Middleburn kit. Otherwise it’s been universally positive.

What application were you using your Uno in, and from your response above it sounds like they were not the hardcoat type chainring?

My hardcoat Uno chainring is still going strong into its second year, with now two winter seasons

Hey BD, were those the hard coat rings?

I’d like all my riding possible on the one front CR is poss (which I suppose I do with the 32t Uno). When the front drops below a single 32 though it does start to look a little strange, esp on an XL 29r
Here’s the 32t which looks clean and simple as well as being light and efficient

Here’s a recent one of the Niner with the 30t MB. Means I can pretty much cover everything where I ride

It didn’t mention warranty replacement on it. I’m not being argumentative, but the only info on it was what I said. Bicycle frame $1.00

    bonesetter

I had a $1600 brand new warranty replacement frame come through without charge. I kept the FedEx waybill and am looking at it now. It describes a bicycle frame with a value for customs of $1.00

It’s the VAT which ultimately is the killer. There’s the handling fee (Parclefarce is the worst) plus the duty (make sure you don’t have the complete bike, it’s less on parts), then the VAT goes on top of all that.

You can ask your seller to mark the value low. This will only get you paying less duty and only a little less VAT.

Or, you can get your seller to mark its value $0.99. That way it will come through with no charges at all. Of course there is risk in this, different couriers more or less. USPS probably the most, FedEx the least.

Otherthing make sure your seller knows what he’s doing. I had some idiot send two Niner frames without custom lables on! You can guess what a balls up that turned out to be.

Oh, MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL. Pay by credit card, and that way youre totally safe if it doesn’t turn up.

what size niner you guys riding? at 5’10" I seem to fall between their med/large

How is your height made up? Are you more leg or body? If you need more reach (longer proportioned body) then go the next size up. Be careful with Niner sizing though – don’t get too focused on ETT’s, as theirs are longer than most, which works for Niners

Blimey Matt! Who’s half done the pointing on your wall!?

Yes, the steel Niners are well worth it… (1/2 price you lucky bug!er)
