Wow Filthy, £275 is the most expensive one I’ve seen, and the heaviest at 635 grms, second only to the Sette at 650…

Like the neat looking cable exit.

Keep us posted (soz) as to how it goes.

I use a Shimano UN72 113mm BB and I have ran 1×9 and SS and chainline is fine.

I know some folk have chain drop problems with their 1×9 set-ups, but as I said I haven’t. I regularly ride steps, chunk, trail centres, 1-2′ drops. Short cage rear mech and tight chain is all I have done.

I find I can get up (& down) almost everything I ride. The pic is with a 32t Uno, although at the mo I have a 30t fitted (clown size wheels) which has slackened the chain some, but still no drops.

In the two years of riding my SIR 9 1×9 I have NEVER lost the chain. It looks clean, and it’s lighter.

MB’s rock – plus you can go sq taper which is better than many of the other designs

treat them well – torque crank bolts, grease, anti-seize, thread-lock where necessary and they will last a very very long time indeed and you’ll grow to love ’em!

I’ve been running RR’s F&R 2.4’s. They roll like a b*stard, esp in the dry

    When it’s wet I put a Nevegal up F

Having owned the ‘old’ Reba Race – wet noodle, the White Brothers Fluid 135 and now the new Reba Team, the Team is all the fork I need/want.

I have a 5″ travel 29r coming and while I will try the F135 on it, I know I will almost certainly settle with the Reba – stiff, compliant (makes the WB’s feel stiff), samll & large hits taken easily – it rocks!

I think the manufacturer/sponsor’s price of £350 may have a slither of truth. This may be a break even price to the manufacturer, who knows

Got to say i really had to question the figures hence the post

He used to work at a bike shop and knows a sponsered rider whos sponser (frame manufacturer) ‘sold’ him a £1200 RRP bike frame for £350

Can this be true or just more bullshite?

Own a RIP 9 & SIR 9 and have recently demoed a JET

I love the Niners I own and have been riding them for the past 2 years. They have gone through quite a few changes set-up wise, mainly to aliviate twitchy steering.

Niner developed their bikes with a 72deg HA. This was based on a 38mm Reba fork offset. The industry standard has moved across to 44, 48 offset, but Niner have stayed put. I have gone over to a Reba Team with 48?mm os. I’ve tried this on both bikes and have settled on a 50mm (!) stem length. this has stopped ALL twitch.

I demoed the JET at Cannock Chase a few weeks ago and while I thought it characteristically Niner, it was very nervy when pointed downwards. I’m sure this could be brought into line with personal set-up adjustments.

I would say Niner all the way. I can’t speak for the HI-Fi, but with reports of it prone to breakage and alot of flex etc etc whereas the JET has none of those complaints, in fact has pretty much universal praise.

Niner are a very progressive company with unique innovative designs such as their CVA suspension, Ecc BB’s, bike designs from the ground up for ‘big wheels’, it goes on

I went tubeless and was a little disappointed as i couldn’t go as low as i had been using – 19psi on a 29r 2.4 stout

have to run about 30 now

After some searching I’m going Lab-Gear

I’ve got some ground Effect stuff inc one of their merino/nylon mix which is good, if a little tight fitting.

The Lab-gear jersey looks like what I’m after. Also, neat you can custom build your own…

    Cheers

Wear it as a tight fitting skirt – you can vary the length from ‘modest’ to ‘gusset viewing’

Oh I see, in that case I might go for the schoolie girl pelmet stylee 8O

it locked tight and I had to use so much force to unscrew it the lever has gouged itself into the maxle slot and now it’s just a mess

It was quite tight a few times before so i have been tighteneing it less…

wonny – I would have looked on one of the EU sites, but prices are crap with the pound situation

stoner – i’m sure ssstu has them and can tell you how they are (he has all tyres known to the 29r existence)

I have a spare 2.4″ Racing Ralph – let me know if you are interested. It is basically brand new.

They are great tyres in 29″ size. Much grippier than you would think. I have managed with them front and rear on my Scandal 29er all winter although clearly they don’t grip as much as a proper mud tyre. They clear really well though. 2.4″ is a bit too wide for the rear of my Scandal though so I am selling one and keeping one on the front

(I have replaced the rear tyre with an Ardent but have only managed a local pootle on it so far)

Gutted – bit of bad timing there – both the suppliers I ordered from dispatched super quick 8O :(

Can really recommend Krank, apart from knowing the guy whos a bloody good guy, there gears tops and probably a bit unique in the UK.Easily as good if not better than GF stuff and the service is very fast.

Made in Kiwi land too then? Look quite similar in their designs. They like that logo on the clothing though – not sure i’d want that everywhere

Owned a Trance for over a year and have to say it was an excellent bike. The maestro suspension just works really well – as good as any out there. Low’ish BB for stability. Some say rear mud clearance an issue, but I found it to be fine

I’d say you could pick one up for a song
