Those were the symptoms I was getting too – couldn’t breathe properly doing the most menial stuff – not nice

But, If you’re otherwise fir and healthy…

    Don’t bother with the GP

There’s loads of this around. The one that makes your eyeballs ache

    Takes ages to go

Unless you’re ‘at risk ‘ chest wise, carry on

I do recommend vit D3 though as that is critical to good immune response and we are getting no sunshine

Oh, and any excuse to post this (XL Trek Stache 5 – nice ride)

No, the rider isn’t 7′ tall

I’ve been rigid for a few years after loads of (29er) FS bikes

I found I went less and less travel, then finding myself locking the fork for anything but the knarliset (2% of the ride) so went fully rigid

You need to concentrate harder, pick your line etc, but for the added effort comes more payback when you get it right. Plus has just made the whole experience ten times more fun and condition adjustable

Some great plus compatable rigids now – Krampus, Stooge, Jones Plus…

    Here’s a quote from dRjOn

if it helps anyone who is pondering trying a demo out, if you like messing around in the woods on a bike, a Jones may well be the perfect bike.

it can, of course, be ridden anywhere to do anything – just like any bike. no, it wont let you conquer an enduro or get the most out of the fall line trail at ski hills, but if you want to wind yourself round woodsy trails, Jeff knows a thing or two about getting your weight balanced between the wheels in such a way that you are relaxed and poised, primed to try and take those twists and turns and ups and downs with confidence.

Yes, it is rigid, and that is a *good* thing in certain scenarios. You have to be going at a fair rate to get the adrenalin flowing with 5+ inches of travel on demand, but the sh!t eating grin that is produced when you make a simple bike fly through a tight trail is attainable without going to a trail centre or the back country.

Brilliant – the info you can get here on plain white t-shirts :)

Thanks everyone. I’m going to try the Gildan 5000 as I like the heavier weight (have been using FOTL heavy) and an AA if I can get one

    Thanks very much everyone

My mate’s Thompson slipped on his Stooge – tried everything, in the end he got himself a Bontrager and hasn’t slipped since

    He tried a Hope

    Sore shoulders only?

Over the past few really cold night rides I’ve used 2 base polyester bases (Jacket and then gilet over the top) which has kept me dry and I can feel warm (and dry) layers of air between the layers – sweet

I was using 100% merino but once wet, you’re staying wet (probably cold as well)

Have just got some Ground Effect 3/4 tights which are brilliant – ~30% merino and the best placed chamois I’ve used

Well, mt ‘large’ long sleeved arrived yesterday – total disaster as I can’t even get it on – £25!

So, went down Go Outdoors and picked up 2 for £6 each – a Hi-Gear and a dare to be – both just I was after

    29×3.00 Minion DHF Plus 120tpi folding 1110g
26×4.80 Jumbo Jim LiteSkin PaceStar 1190g

    Not far away!

    It’s still a long way off a 1630g Bud

    ~1100g isn’t ‘heavy’ for a winter tyre

what does it do that the 2.5″ doesn’t already do very well?

The DW, to its credit is almost 3″ too, so it’s not the width, but more the general stoutness of the Minion which gives it an all round more stout look. The knobs are huge – taller and larger base

Ran it for the first time at 10 psi last night (I’m 189 lb’s) and unsurprisingly it was performance was as my mate said tank like (that’s not to say it was at all slow)

Short TT you say. The one above has (ETT) 25″

    1 1/2″ longer than Stooge. There is also a 24 & 23″

    bonesetter
    Free Member

It is – comes in different sizes too

Stooge is brilliant, especially when you consider cost. The Jones trumps it though on a number on levels. Fork integration is the biggest factor (which would add upwards of £400 to the Stooge tbf

Hey Dibbs – you got deep pockets?

    Those inferno’s are £62!

They sound good though. One mag reviewer said they are just too warm above 7°
