Good to see you better sorted

ESi’s on my loops after initially going with Ergons. Totally different after

FYI 6’3″ 25″ Jones Plus 70 stem, no spacer (and I normally struggle to get bars high enough on any other bike)

What’s ‘the thing’ this bike does which is special Stu? (as I know absolutely nothing about the bike)

There’s a pic on page 1 of the width

    bonesetter

Ton – I’d say a tad narrower, yes

They come up to about a 2.9″

Chronicles are probably the ‘widest’ 3″ of all

Looks quite pricy – at a couple of grand for a course

Are there any practical takeaways? I’m thinking you would need a few machines to DIY frames at home in the shed?

    Looking good ^^

I see you’ve splashed out on a new saddle ;)

The XT cranks look right at home

Are those Loop bars? How are they on the Stooge. Looking to build up a Mk3 B+ and may go Loops

EDit: Just spotted your other thread on this bike

Whatever you do don’t ride them with + tyres

How ‘colder day’ are you talking?

    That’s an important detail

    bonesetter

Turns your entire chain/cassette/chainring/jockies black, with caked on gritty grunge within a few miles of the first ride

But hey, if you OK with that, that’s cool

Running a new chain like a KMC with their storage goo will contaminate the rest of the drive train too, so the cleaning task is much worse

I remove goo, and apply thin water soluble Prolink Gold

Mine’s the cleanest chain in the gang then :-)

Dysons are crap – Sebo are brilliant and can be picked up easily on the Bay

I love it when a new bike comes together

And this one sounds rather fun indeed B+

(who were saying the other day + doesn’t work and will fade away??)

Stooge is a small outfit, so can’t see too many variations on the theme

Stooge philosophy has always been simplicity, which means rigid fork being integral

Do you guys ever look on mtbr?

They were a decade ahead with 29er’s and have a big (think USA big) + fan base. Plus is not going to go away, and it works

There’s not a decent UK choice for + tyres, especially mud ones

My fat bike had Spesh’s 4.6 Ground Control on when new. Hit almost any mud slop and super quick washout

I changed to a 4.8 Bud and totally transformed the front into a grip miester. Almost zero slide

It only gets + at near true 3″

Most ‘2.8’ widths are no where near 2.8

Did it work out the box?

They usually come with partial charge

Those Fuji’s look great – X10 has a viewfinder too (can’t find it on CEX though)

I’ve had a few Lumix’ (TZ…) and both stopped working

I do have a GF-1 which has been very good, but I wont take that riding – it’s also a bit too big

So, after something a tad more rugged

    Thanks

    I’m getting no-where fast

I’m not going to drink ‘pop’ you clean toilets with that

J2o and the like contain too much sugar and I need to consider my impending diabetes

I’m prepared to concede and accept a flask a bad idea (we all come up with bad ideas)

I’m surprised no-one does the flask thing though

OK, I knew I’d flack for this, but some pubs I go to don’t serve tea/coffee.

If they do, I’ll buy one

    Like the ‘House Stu

I emailed next day tyres asking if they could get them in, but had nothing back (not even an automated)

The bikemonger sells Maxxis – could try dropping him an email request to stock some

It’ll have to be, unless you can find a used Stache 5 – no more new ones

    bonesetter

    Thanks Chris

I’ve owned both, at the same time

Geo of the the stache means you’ll be more weight forward, but you’ll get used to that, and of course you can tweak the cockpit (I ran a Stooge Moto bar which works fine)

Stache CS’s are super short and it feels it. With B+ and if you like the CS’s short then you’ll be popping off anything you can find, albeit at higher speed stability sacrifice

    Stache is mega lightweight too

Stooge gets the nod for me though, and shines better in B+ mode. You can feel the steel

    OK ta – think I’ll try one…

Going by their sizing chart think I’ll need xl, even for my modest frame

Stu – Is all the jacket and arms the same material, or is it thicker on the front or any other kinda combo? Cheers

Yeah, we switched our lights off last night for a few sections – great

    Moon was particularly bright

They don’t still make many 52″ er’s ? Seven foot bean poles maybe, but rare are those barrel chests

I bet you could do this ton:

    26″ rigid is harsh
