Enville is near enough to include in a ride. Pretty too around the Hall/sheepwalks

LOTS of styles been put up on Kinver and the walkers are snooty

I have used framesaver, and spray can waxoyl on mine, and re coat every 12 months depending on use/conditions

    You know it makes sense

My Tracks will record your route as a 'track'. If you want to use it any kind of GPS device (or I suspect mapping software) you will need to convert it to a 'route' or other useable file format

'spose Canadian bikes should be included too – their geo usually sees more UK favour

Good idea. It would be a reference overview of how the very best of the USA 29er bikes translate for a UK trail feel

The whole point of my thread

But why do we need to resort to Teutonic efficiency (& expense)

OK, burning question for me then –

Who puts in fully soiled, and who rinses

And who stands at the back door while the missus hoses them down 😛

    Is Miele German?

Edit: yep just checked – a rider's wife's friend was saying she washes with a Miele – fully soiled too!

Well said. 853 TT & DT is just not going to give much trail feel difference.

Niner SIR9 is very overpriced, and is plagued by EBB problems. SIR is 800 pounds. A full custom steel such as a Shand is the same or less…

But as you ask for off the peg, Sam seems to have cornered the niche there, and would be my recommendation

Yes but Steve, you wouldn't notice if your shock was locked or open… 😮

I suspect it's a Boone ti chainring or something similar.

It is indeed a very, very beautiful Boone 🙂

I thought 853 is too stiff for the rear (harsh)

What was the package size stumpy?

Was it the normal frame box size, or was it a FS frame which had been 'folded in half' into a smaller box?

    Cheers

PS – how long did it's journey to you take?

FS or HT bike? – difference

This is exactly what I find with my simple single pivot

Heavy, high speed braking and the bike goes into nose dive with the rear end hard, jacked, skipping. if you have to negotiate something and let the brakes off to do it, you're faced with a rocking horse situation…

You Trek boys get none o' dat?

Heather, where do you get your maths from – you're way out

If I take a crank, crankset, wheels/tyres, bars, chain, brakes… and half build it up, it's impossible to say anything

I had a glow in the dark bike – atomic blue Niner RIP 9.

If you left it under fluorescent light for a few hours before going out it would glow better

    Sorry about that 😳

My Niner's (RIP & SIR) were both twitchy, especially when pointing downward.

    I fitted a w-i-d-e bars (29") and a 50mm stem

This may sound crazy, and bar/stem set-ups are hugely personal, but most twitchiness went after that.

I guess I just prefer slacker angles, which is why they both went

I tend to think HB has it about right. Take a bike bag with a wheelset, crankset and a couple more odds, and the game's on

On $2.5K ****t tax works out to be £406

Cleaning my HT I turned it upside down and water ran out of the ST slot indicating trapped water.

As there was no BB hole I drilled a 2mm dia one and no more water

Your BB will be toast in no time otherwise

Ahh but Bonsetter, you must compare apples with apples :). We use a 100% Merino with no polyester – ie Smartwool or any other number of Merino Laminates. As such the textiles will react differently from one another.

That said yes, Merino, pure Merino, does hold moisture, like many other materials if you sweat enough, the big thing is the moisture does not impact the thermal its regulation properties and pure merino does not 'collect' odour, unlike anything with polyester in it.

In regards to our UK distributor… well, not so much any more but Scott, our old UK distributor, at Otagocyclesport does have some of our Merino kit in store still.

I really like the Lab-Gear tops I got from you, fully bespoke with extra long length – now that's something the others don't do! and tbh, any top I wear mountain biking, summer or winter always ends up soaked.
