The Pro Moto is a flat bar. Nice bar though. The Carnegies have good sweep but they too are flat

hey good call Messiah – they're going to fir the bill me thinks

tos – thanks, but I have some warheads at the mo, nice bars, but just not enough sweep to avoid wrist aggravation.

I was told by a Spesh dealer if I tried to change the bearings and got stuck he wouldn't step in to complete. From what I've read there's one pair of bearings which are more difficult to remove then others as there's no through hole in the frame and these are the potential pitfall

I don't know how much that puller is jon, but the bearings cost £40 wherever you get them from, and the whole job at the dealer costs £90.

As I understand it the pre 2010 FSR's might be easier

As for Mick's home made puller method, it sounds great. If my frame was older frame I might well give it a go

jon – what bearing removal tool have you bought – slide type or puller?

My suggestion would be 29" frame and build it up

TA fork – there's only the Reba Team or Manitou. Reba's are very scarce on the ground, so choice there looks academic.

You could go for a HT Banshee Paradox – very fun bike and takes 2.4 in the rear so plenty of cush. Not sure what the biggest size is. I know you asked for suspension but the 29" wheel in the Paradox gives alot. The other choices would be Swift of Niner (although I'm not personally a Niner fan)

An excellent choice would be a custom steel HT 8)

Specialized decided not to offer 29er's in the UK following last years sales figures. I picked an FSR Stumpjumper frame (5") from the US (1K GBP). That's going over your budget though, but maybe you could stretch it

I tracked my regular local loop with this device and then navigated it. The experience was good.

I loaded this route into Google Earth and on very high scale you can see the line tracking the exact route. There's no room for error, every one of my wobbles are there.

The route I followed today is totally wrong, impossible, no track/route there whatsover – route says go up sheer mountain..etc.

This was saying turn left into a gourge – impossible to ride. It just didn't work

Hey Mike, are those riser bars? And these

CRC list them as being flat and yours look like risers ??

Apreciate the comments, especially sunlight avoidance

What I was really after is home made practical storage solutions for say 2 dozen tyres, mine are in a big heap on the floor at the mo.

The rail on hooks suggestion sounds good as does the Ikea bags. I like the idea of being able to flick through them and easily pick one out to use, or am I just being idealistically impractical?

We would have to see the studies you refer to, but the ones I studied 5 years reading were favorable for osteopathic treatment

With treatment that could be down to just a few days

Good to see some osteopath recommendations and I'll add my +1 as I am one

An osteopath will take a case history, asking you how the incident happened, carry out an examination and any tests necessary, and then diagnose the problem and explain how they will then treat it

Usually problems such as you have described are cleared up in a couple of visits

I would phone up a local one to you today

Have you found it a PITA having to use 2 hex keys to remove the wheel?

I suppose iy you're on the trail you would use a multitool which would make it a little quicker…?

One important thing to note is that Manitou call the Minute a MARS air spring. Not sure what it stands for but it is a hybrid. There is a small coil spring in series with the air spring. The fork is supplied from the factory with a medium spring. For a 200lb rider they recommended a firm spring. You can set the sag using air pressure but the resultant higher pressure results in a less linear feel. In other words, a ramping up of it's action and possibly not getting full travel. It is a very easy job to change the spring.

The main gripe folk have with this fork, as Si says is needing to undo 5 hex keys to remove the wheel

I don't think you'll get a pair anywhere on the planet

Manitou's seem the way to go, they're cheaper plus they don't get creaking crowns

I'm after some myself – Andy I'll take a few if there's some going 😛

Will you be using it on flat/hard surface, or garden/grass/lumpy grass?

I went for this Tacx T3025 Spider Professional Workstand.

Sorry not sub ~£100 but tripod design, and very sturdy, especially outside

Stu – yes, latest acquisition 🙂

You've got to be tapped to spend on a vice when you can buy brand new Records for ~£30 – 40

    Makes me happy though
