Higher the Mb/s the better. DanDisk Pro has a 90Mb/s but costs £470 (joking)

More down to earth solution is a SanDisk Extreme 20 Mb/s

At an minimum one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transcend-16GB-SDHC-Class-Memory/dp/B0015AOK1O

FRC – correction to mine above. It is a 29T up front. This suits my riding terrain very well and does not spin out on the way to and fro the trail – recommended as 1×9

You’ve got some good fun to come…

The Singular is very pricey – £1600… for less you could go full custom

eg Burls (very nice and full custom) ~£1K; Ridgeline ~£1K
or there’s the US builders which you’ll pay about the same as the Pegasus for.

Then there’s the type of riding you’ll be doing which has a big bearing on the choice…

Short rear cage, chain as tight as, no drop device. Never drops with rough trail riding.

Rear cage too long, and chain a bit long – then you wouldn’t need that drop device…

After seeing the weight difference of the two bikes, I decided to see what 5lbs actually looked like, so I went to the kitchen scales and it took 2 big full muesli bags to make it up. Or 2 1/3 standard size bags of sugar…

Yes, the descents were a little faster, but the HT can be skipped and floated more, overall the FS did not have the sprightly feel to it

I’m drifting into FS/HT differences, but the pedaling effort needed was very noticeable. This the biggest thing

What I can say is the HT was much more enjoyable.

Crikey! I’ll be on a 29er SS rigid and growing a beard at this rate 🙂

Yes I have and I’m not a million miles from DY, only about 120. Do you ever come dahn saath?

Hey Martin – I think you may be da guy! Getting dahn would be no bother, cheers

I’m trying to decide right now between a sus fork or rigid, either on a custom ti Vertigo like this one or a Spaceframe Jones – I know tough call eh?

Or just sticking with my steel ‘AM’ Strong as MrTall points out and saving myself an awful of headaches and keeping my wallet intact

He he, (Brum born and lived in Jeff Jones famous Yam Yam for 34 years and prefer it :-))

So, all this postcodes and accents talk is giving my thread lots of bumpage, but not that much further on finding a Large JONES

Looks like it’s trying your 23″ Stu 😉

So I really need to spend £800…?

What sort of weights are these ~800 options?

    Thanks for the replies

For 300 notes though you can't go far wrong.

    Pretty much what he said

Aaahh, yes I've seen good reports on the Gryphon. I like the idea of a light bike, will Gryphon fit the bill?

Have looked at the Tricross. Again favourable feedback and Andy at Two Wheels thinks I should buy a Genesis Day One off him. Got to say it fits the budget at just £300 for a complete bike

I have the brained FSR Expert 29er (drifting OT slightly perhaps here), but I love it. The suspension is outstanding, easy to set-up and amazes how active it remains, especially on braking. Geo is spot on and forward thinking for 29er FS bikes

The complete bikes are good value, or there's frame only

My XL Big Mama is riding very nicely at the moment, i just don't know how to post pics on here!

Surprised that no one's posted a Niner yet?

Niner's are so last year now, they haven't moved on, not to mention overpriced 😈

Anyone tried Ashima replacement pads for the Formula's?

    Going cheap on CRC

I think if you started a post asking about alot of brakes you would get an equally mixed reply

I run Formula's and have had issues – mainly excessive & spongy lever travel as well as difficulty bleeding (tried the upright lever method, ending up taking down the lbs)

When they're working they have been excellent and better than others I've tried…

750mm (29.5") Kodex Strut Bars on my FS 29er with 50mm stem.

The bars have more sweep than normal (11deg) as it follows you need more sweep the wider you go. Very happy with them

All e-reports say they're really good (both sizes), so looking forward to trying one – which is on the way from Chevin 🙂

I have the 2.4 Ardents on my HT & FS (both rear mounted) and quite like them.

Not the last word in outright grip though, esp climbing traction and braking, but that's a nit pick.

Fast rollers, but only come up as 56mm which is the same as a RR 2.4.

Good God! Stay away from WB's – they'll be back in service more time than on your bike

The Manitous seem the best all round
