I ran the Shimano’s for years and looked att he Lakes and thought the same

On, they are not bulky at all and in fact are a lot more comfortable, as well as significantly warmer :)

    In fact, check this

    + 1 Lakes over Shimano’s

Lakes are warmer when it gets proper cold, are ‘better’ made and will last longer

    My Stooge doesn’t feel stiff

Down to set-up and intended use I would’ve thought

    Great Stooge pic

I went WTB’s as my mate Stu did ;)

The Blunts seem a good way to go

Let us how you get on :)

    The Scrapers are 45 internal

Mr Stooge is running 30mm Blunts (?) and says they work fine

The ones linked in my post above ;)

I have zero experience of this wheel size, and in the Stooge frame too, so can’t really comment, however from reading and asking around, it would seem 30mm internal would seem a good minimum with 50 being max

    MK1 or MK2 frame dependent

    Thanks Singlecrack

I’ve just ordered a pair of WTB Scraper rims

And a WTB Trailblazer 2.8 along a Vee 3.25 for up front

Here’s a plus video for anyone interested

I agree they look very nice, and in a retro kinda way

    ^ It’s those MB’s… that’s your boat anchor ;)

A lighter BB will change the CoG of the Stooge too 8)

The Sultan’s I have tried have been more of the Mondeo rather than the Focus or Fiesta, but always the safer side of any flair

CS’s are very long compared to most and that anchors you back

I’ve been using MD cleats (Shimano’s) for years without a single issue, on many different shoes, pedals, and bikes

Tried Time’s and couldn’t get on with them (can’t remember why now)

I’ve got two Krups – one for the coffee and the other for spices. Need two as your coffee will taste of spices otherwise

Had them for a few years, as has a friend. No issues

I think that’s what it is – a good honest bike

How important are short chain stays on a 27 plus bike?

    (I really don’t know)

Here’s how mine is at present

    Looks quite discrete

However, it does seem a tad low for clearance

I used a crud catcher last winter which worked well

With a 29+ up front and your weight balance right, a lot can be achieved

Need to check back with shop for del

I’ve been using Stans for years

I generally keep up with top ups

I fill by pulling a tyre side off a bit, inspect and deal with whatever I find

    Works – I think I’ll stick

Yeah, MTBR go on about the fork

For my riding, the rigid 5 will be fine

Alpine Bikes Glentress have one, I think possible it’s in the demo fleet. Doesn’t look as ridiculous in person as I’d hoped.

Oh, you’ve seen an in the flesh one?

    It just looks so right

I’m happy to allow the chainstay for function, but no way does it look “right”

I don’t think I was thinking of the CS when I said right – more the whole package, but I think like people, bike manufacturers should be allowed to do what they want

Wheelbase stavely have the black & purple ones, Cheltenham cycles have a purple one too. However non have a lrg which considering they are 29ers seems a bit daft given the likely height of riders who might want one

Those are the 5’s and the 7’s which have been out for a lil while now

    It’s the 5’s which haven’t materialised yet
