I was on holiday there over the BH

I would like to move there to dedicate my life to Zen thinking and mtb’ing :)

It’s good to be accurate and know how hard (or soft) you are to the next rider, for comparison sake

Just looked at the Mendips, seems like some decent riding

    3 month update

I had a Hope fitted by LBS and it creaked

Took it back and they refitted which stopped it, but it’s now back again

I don’t want to take it back again as I’m sure it can’t be a fitting issue, not twice by a good LBS

    So… I reckon, options are:

Buy a Hope fitting tool (£37 above link) and re-grease every couple of months, or ditch the Hope and go back to something else, like Shimano’s mentioned above (the OE one didn’t creak)

    What do you reckon?

    ^ Easy – both :)

Anyone know if the next (with extra, larger size available) batch has a change in rear clearance?

You probably need an adapter, like the TireTek one

    Bit of a faff really

Which way is the Topeak reading do you think?

    bonesetter

My 5 is the only bike I ride now

So fast once in the flow.

Still B+ rear and 29+ front and 11/12 psi (Topeak D2)

Also, XT brakes, Stooge Moto bar, 60 stem (21.5), Layback post, and a creaking Hope BB (screw together expensive one)

I thought the saddle ok to begin with but now I can feel a centre ridge and it’s looking worn

One thing – check your headsets as I did and it was rusty. A few have found the same on mtbr

3… not heard of anyone running a fat tyre on 3. Not even for beach use

I have got a Presta Schrader screw on adapter so managed to get the gauge working

Front 29×3 Chronicle is running at 11 and the rear 27.5×3 Bridger is at 12

The whole look of the D2 doesn’t make we want to jump

    … woeful.

Wouldn’t think it worth riding again

    Give in

I’ve just received the Tire Tek Flexi-Pro gauge

It has the Schrader specific chuck with no option for a Presta

What’s the best way around this?

Wainwright is ok, and the food is good. The pub is down to earth (as Clent pubs go)

I go for the scrumpy myself :)

I sit outside the Vine quite a lot (as one does after a ride) and am staggered at some of the speed the cars are doing going both ways…

BUT – some of the roadies are doing similar speeds!

Ah, thanks. Yeah that looks like almost the top of the hill from the Vine

I think that was the one Houns. There was a car involved I was told

Version I got was around a bit from St Kenelm’s Pass

Do you have any more detail?

Can you get away with a 29er tube?

I think if running tubeless, you need to check every ride as they let ~1 psi out over a few days

^ That’s my favourite combo too

Cush, grip, bulldozer grin factor, and staying agile with the ‘smaller’ rear :)

Spec MAX goes 56-64 and although listed as XL has an XXL sticker inside. Been using one for years (not the same one)

    Sensible money too

Thanks ton (I know you like the Wingnut)

That link was the ONLY one I could find, and is only available in black

    I wouldn’t mind a different colour

Thin on the ground it seems

That’s what I really like about the Blowfish – winter and I carry a light woolen and jacket for the pub stops so the expansion is great

Summer, don’t need it, so smaller mode

The Skyline looks just a little lacking on height – I have a longish pump for example?

Is the Osprey’s hydration better integrated than the Skyline?

Stooge from CTBM comes in at a porky 35lbs. Great bike and can swap out parts for better as you go, or ask Charlie to fit a lighter wheelset from the off

Or, there’s arguably the better performing Stache 5 – 2 brilliant bikes

Double size option from Stooge imminent

^ Oh that explains it then

    The rigid 5 isn’t flexy
