Bikes can be come quite obsessive but i have never got to the point where i am dreaming about them, though they do take up a lot of my time wether that being riding/training/building or maintaining so i guess if your perhaps like me and you go to bed with things on your mind then you have the chance you may dream about bikes!!!

Me… i would rather be dreaming of fit females riding a bike!!! lol

Oh and i would if you can afford go for XTR over both XT or SLX…lol

andrewh…Am thinking about doing the manx100 and been wondering what travel fork to run? would you think 120mm would be the way to go?

Be interesting to see some pictures of there wear if possible? IMO there is no way you should have been able to wear the roller out with that small amount of mileage…

I run a tubs version of them front and back on one of my cross bikes and IMO they are very good in wet muddy conditions but guess that could be down to me running at a low of 24/26psi and in turn getting plenty of grip, I also run top end cross tires on another bike and so far IMO the RR’s do as good of a job and at a lot less cost…

LS I took your advice and removed the tires and all water now removed, thanks for that.

I have now re glued the tires for the first time and all seems to have gone OK but guess the proof will be in when i race again this weekend!

On the downside though i have managed to get a little glue on the outside edge of the tire and wondered if you(LS) or anyone else could recommend a solvent that would help in the removal of the glue from the outside edge of the tire? I have used Vittoria Mastik one glue and it talks about using a solvent in the instructions but dosen’t mention which one or type….Thanks

It’s quite funny but right now they are in the Bathroom with a dehumidifier on the go, they have been there for past 5 hours and it seems to be working, well at least two of the wheels sound like they are drying out!!

Also just been told to place them into a cardboard box with some bar carbonate soda and that will also pull the water out…How much fun is this??!! and you learn something everyday in more ways than one!

Karnali they are yours after the season has finished and i have no doubt wrecked them!! Are you doing much racing these days?! been a while since a seen you?!

Really silica gel, will that work really?? much rather do that than drill into rims…

    bones76

OK so if i go for the drilling a hole option then what size hole do we think? i actually have some Mavic Carbone cosmics that have the hole pre drilled but that hole is around 5mm if memory serves me correct and also any particular drill bit that needs to be used on carbon?

To everyone else who has tried to help me with this matter, thanks for your comments and nice to see everyone on here is not a muppet like a certain few!!!

ChunkyMTB are you telling me you have never used a pressure washer to clean your bike when it’s pitted up to the eyeballs??!! And i’ll tell you what, i have been pressure washing bikes for years and if done from a safe distance like i do then you have no issues IMO, what do you think am doing standing there close range and blasting my bearings to bits, get a grip!!

If you had read my post you would have read that on yesterdays course there was lots of deep pools of water which is more than likely how the wheels came to have water in the rims not from the pressure washer which yes could have added a few drops.

And as for blasting a pressure washer at my face, like am going to do that you Muppet!!

Away out for the day but will no doubt return to your bollocks comments that are as much use as nothing!!

Very kind words from you there cynic-al but surly we all have to learn somewhere of things to do or not to do?! Or where you born a know it all??!!

Am not sure how easy the valve extenders will be to remove but i will have ago tomorrow now as the wheels are locked away with the bikes for the night.

As for pressure washing i try not to but sometimes i have no other choice as time very precious or just no time to clean some weeks to the standard that i like to do due to all sorts of reasons and far to many to mention!!!

Will see how i go tomorrow and post how i get on!! once agin thanks for all your input!

I have been told that sometimes us cyclists ride with the hip/top of the leg to bunched up and it’s a case of opening up the hip flexor but you also have to watch not to open up to far as this can cause issues else where guess it’s just trial and error unless you have a bike fit done by someone who knows what there on about.

Would be interested to know how you get on so please keep me updated…

I would say that when your using your rollers your bike position when seated is correct but i would hazard a guess your saddle/seat post could be slightly to low, am no expert but i had a similar problem and when i raised the seat post a little the hip stopped giving me grief and to this day my all over riding position seems 100% better…Hope that helps

It’s good to see Wigan council wanting to help out with letting you have events/races there and a cross race next year would be great!! It all can only be good for the area and hopefully other council’s in other area’s will feel the same and either start or continue to support biking events/races in the North West for years to come.

Sounds like a winner to me and a welcome race/event to look forward to due to HTN unfortunately not being run this year, sounds very similar IMO what with being able to use Cross bikes as well as Mountain bikes.. 😀

You will be fine with the Landcruisers but make sure you inflate to around 55/60psi even when off road to make sure you don’t puncture and like you said they are a very good price, but i would say keep an eye on the tread as they don’t last that great IMO

Land cruisers for me too…Rode during 3 Peaks and had no issues with punctures and that was over some tough terrain, only downside for me was the drag on the road but guess you can’t have everything…

I’m not on it fella, came off a while ago, my post was just a thought this morning as i was checking out the forum and thinking how good of a day it would be to get back on and get some wind assisted KOM’s

I really have no issue with Strava, in fact i used it for well over a year and can see it’s benefit, only reason a came off was because of how much of my life i wasted having to download my rides due to the fact i don’t have a good enough mobile phone to do it automatically, nearly 15 to 20min of my day which am sure you would agree is far to long.

As for people beating what KOM’s i did have and i never had that many and the ones i did have i didn’t even know i had sometimes, well they came and went and sometimes came back but here is always someone better out there, wind assisted or not!!

    Hope that helps…

I also love the cross bike these days and can’t get enough, am addicted…

I bought my first one last year as i intended to race and i did and still am racing but i also choose to enter the 3 peaks and so i started taking the cross bike off road a lot more while doing my training and i can’t get over how much stick you can give these bikes and how rough of terrain you can actually ride and descending is just awesome and am descending things that i thought a year ago could only be ridden by a mountain bike!

If you have never tried one of these bikes then you need to have a go!!

Be warned though… if ridden well they are highly addictive!!!

brokensoul that makes sense and will try that some time over the weekend and one other thing that i thought about the other day is do i need a special tool for fitting Sram GPX BB’s..you know to get that final finishing tightness? i know Shimano have there own tightening tool..

Sorry for jumping onto your thread jekkyl
