Changing from 120mm to 150mm is something I’ve considered for sometime now and am pleased Yeti replied the response they did.

What fork are you running? Be good to know your thoughts over the next few weeks and may determine if I go 140mm or 150mm

Has anybody ever been fined for going over the average speed limit?

I frequently drive around 55mph(according to sat-nav) all over the country and never had any fines through the letter box..I’m not sure they work and I often see people driving much faster than me when traffic is not that congested

The wheel shown in the picture is the wheel that has just been returned by Planet X after having a new free hub body fitted as a good will gesture, no bearings on this wheel have been replaced by myself and would like to think/hope it came back from PX ready to go straight onto my frame and into drop outs, which incidentally don’t look worn to me.

It’s a puzzle that’s for sure but am sure we’ll get to the bottom if it.

    Thanks again guys…

Sq225917 I have sent you email with pictures.

Am pretty sure I haven’t lost a washer as even though I’m not 100% sure what am doing sometimes with bikes I am pretty savvy at keeping things together when dismantling parts, and on top of that one set of my wheels have just came back yesterday from PX (with a new free hub body replaced as a good will gesture, which I thought was nice of them) and the wheels should have been ready to be fit to bike, so unless they have lost the seal too?! Which is always a possibilitie then I’m thinking it’s not a washer.

I don’t know I’m at a loss and as said going LBS at some point this morning. Perhaps this is blessing in disguise as was meant to be on a 6 hour cross ride today but weather awful so giving me chance to sort this and other stuff.

Once again thanks for the reply/input

Yeah bearings only replaced in one set of wheels, and am pretty sure no parts have been lost in the process, I’m stumped too and going LBS later as it’s open from 10am

I have only replaced the bearings in one set of wheels, I have new bearings waiting to go into another set of wheels but have hung back since this started to happen.

I’m thinking it must be the cassettes being too big, but they have ran in the past, though there was two races last year where I had issues with the rear wheel coming loose when I applied pressure to the cranks at the start of a race!

Lbs open at 10am and will head down for there opinion as need this sorted ASAP as got training I need to be doing for couple of events etc

I will post picture later too, but it is very tight between dropout and cassette when compressed!,

Hi guys and thanks for the reply’s.

Darrenspink I here what your saying about going lbs and that is on the agenda if I can’t sort this myself, don’t think the frames are bent though as there carbon, but in will double check just in case that is possible.

Pitchpro2011 could you explain in more detail what your saying please? Where you saying to put a washer? I’m thinking the washer would compress against the end of cassette thus causing same problem if I’m thinking you mean put washer between dropout and end of cassette?

Dooge the hubs are Planet X and no they haven’t been serviced on any if the 3 sets of wheels I’m running, well at least by lbs, I have replaced bearings though. And the axle pokes out by about 5mm but as said when you tighten QR it compresses up against axle/end of cassette. Perhaps something is missing, but I am usually ok at keeping parts together and to lose something off three rear wheels is not like me.

Once again thanks for the help so far on this problem

Bearnecessities I don’t really get your sense if humour and would be surprised if anyone does, but than you for your brain dead input!

Gofasterstripes you may have a valid point, though you would think or hope all would work fine as everything is Planet X except the cassette which is SRAM.

But what your saying makes sense as there is not much space between the cassette locking and drop outs and it does look very tight!

Could it be the cassette that’s the problem? Is there anything I can do except buy new cassette?

Can do pictures but will be this evening..

I’m pretty sure they are cartridge bearings and not cup and cone, I will take a better look tonight.

So is what your saying that when I tighten the QR it is compressing drop outs against free hub which in return is pressing against the cartridge bearing thus preventing it spinning freely?

Thanks for the help so far…

I do have support and that comes in the way of a very good friend with good local knowledge of the area.

I had the use of my friend last year and had no problem finding him as we pre planned where he was going to be beforehand and anticipate that we will stick to the same places this year, though this year instead of being there with supplies he will be there with my more or less identical cross bike with the exception of better tires with less drag than the land cruisers for the road sections.

As for being mid pack you never know but i will be hoping to make a bit higher than that with some specific training, i mean i didn’t go to bad last year with not that much training so am hoping to be higher placed, but like everyone knows anything can happen to prevent that!

Once again thanks for the tips etc

Thanks for all your input so far people.

Crazy-legs i will check out the sammy slick thanks.

As crazy-legs says your not to run road specific tires on the bike, they have to be cross tires to keep with in the spirit and like you crazy-legs i have to agree if they just made one bike compulsory then it would take away all this confusion/hassle of which tires to run etc

Perhaps though i need to get out more with the draggy land cruisers and just MTFU and train better this year

We will see…need to get entry first too!!!

Am starting to wonder if the bike will take a 150mm travel fork and save having to insert the spacer…

Anybody know if a Lynskey LT 26” HT will be fine with a 150mm fork? It’s designed around a 140mm fork but i have been running a 120mm fork for a while with no issues…Just a thought

I wish i could tell you!! A few years ago i jumped straight in and done a 24hour and everyone thought i was mad because i had never done a 5hour or 12 hour before!!

I really enjoyed the 24hour and it was very well organised so IMO you will have a great time and you will have nothing to worry about… just enjoy you only live once!!
